Yeap, Autism is a spectrum, for some reasons, most of girls have a more mild version, while most of severe case are significally, males. This % suggests that most or all the mutations related to Autism are in the Y Chromosome I think Rachel could have married a 'normal' man with high patient
The fact that Griffin asked Rachel for her consent before he even kissed her is so precious and special. He could teach a lot of men a lot of things! ❤
The reality is most women aren’t going to want a man to ask consent every single time for a kiss. Especially if they are already in a committed relationship/married. Griffin is doing what feels right to him and there is nothing wrong in that. Plus his wife love him for him But most women would not want that let’s be real.
I know it's rude to laugh, but Griffin saying, with full confidence, that Rachael has Down Syndrome made me nearly spit out my drink. I wonder what he thought you were asking...
He obviously knew the question was about Rachel and her disability but his answer shows how "limited" he is compared to her when it comes to mental capacity. I find her patience and how she handles him fascinating.
@OhiChicken Griffin quite literally says the first thing on his mind usually 😂 We all thought it was very comical! And yes Rachael’s patience with him is truly a symbol of their love 😊
Which is really saying something as Griffen admitted he gets frustrated when he doesn’t get his way of what he wants. I think Rachel lets him have his was a lot of the time by her interactions. Such a calming person she comes across as You can see the adoration they have for each other. Just beautiful
Griffin smarter than he sounds (no offense meant by that at all!) he’s really got some stuff figured out better than majority of men like 😂 like he may not articulate very well but he does articulate the most important parts ❤
I don’t think Griffin necessarily misunderstood the last question. I think that his genuine answer to “How can someone have a happy marriage?” is “by marrying Rachael!” That’s what worked for him! 🥺
that was funny. because you have down syndrome is why you have autism hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah i don't even have down syndrome by the way because but still that was so funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@@twelvelookslike She reminds me of someone - some actress - I can’t quite put my finger on who but it’ll come to me later I’m sure 😅 Edit: Emma Stone! She reminds me of Emma Stone, both in her looks and mannerisms.
She is very thoughtful! Just so you know, there’s no such thing as “more advanced” autism. In this case, Griffin would be described as having higher support needs. Because Rachel has less support needs when it comes to communicating (doesn’t need as much prompting or help explaining herself), that doesn’t mean she doesn’t need a lot of help with other things or doesn’t have serious issues that impact her life in the same way Griffin appears to. Autism is described as a spectrum, which you could think of as different colors on the spectrum of light. Someone with “purple” autism is not going to be “more advanced” as someone with “green” autism, for example. It impacts every single person differently and varies in terms of support needs.
“What does love feel like?” “Love feels like life.” “How do you feel when she says she loves you?” “I feel happy.” “And, grateful.” I’m in love with the parents. This is one of the sweetest documentaries I’ve ever seen ❤
"if someone wants to have a happy marriage, what should they do?" "They should love each other" Why do people generally not understand this. Very profound. Lovely job interviewing these two Chris! You're very talented at what you do
I know, this has got to be my favorite video from Chris because I feel like I can learn the most from it. I actually feel like I relate to Griffin more, but wish I was more like Rachel because she is more mature than I was her age. Women should mature differently than men. I was just very “left-brained”. Thanks to Chris, Griffin and Rachel for sharing their story to the world. Love is enough when it is mutual; they work towards being what the other needs within their respective boundaries and abilities. There is a mutuality between them despite their differences. This is a sacrifice of themselves for something greater that they share between them. That is love.
@@Jayy_Peait takes work because it's usually very complex but with those two it's really quite simple. Everything's out on the table and there's nothing more to it other than what you see. If they care for each other and get concerned for each other then that's enough.
@@Jayy_Pea Griffin is using the word love as a verb, not a noun. - Love the noun, the feeling and the fireworks, is not enough, as you said. - Love the verb is the key to happy marriage. True, it is not enough all alone, but without it, I don’t think there can be a happy marriage.
HEY! Normalize different/atypical marriage styles!! This is total genius! They don't live together because it doesn't work for them, so instead of forcing it and crashing their marriage- they don't. They do their own thing that works for them. Take notes folks. I love this, everything about this, God bless them and you all.
Whenever I see people who are neurodivergent living their lives to the fullest I am filled with so much joy. Their joy and authenticity is refreshing and infectious. I am reminded of how their priorities in life are often less infiltrated by greed, malice, or other intense manipulative emotions. They are so sweet to each other. I love this adorable and genuine couple. Truly wish the very best for them!
"Love feels like life." Such a powerful answer. 10 times more striking than most neurotypical softball answers. And her parents seem to be absolutely wonderful people.
I’m autistic and this gives me hope that I’ll find love some day. Thank you Rachel and Griffin for sharing their story and thank you Chris as always for this beautiful community.
You will :) ! There’s love for everyone! My friends fiancé has autism! But my friend doesn’t. And they both just learned to understand and love each other
Rachael is so sweet and mature, yet innocent. They're so cute together. May Allah keep them safe and well for long and healthy lives! They're so supportive of one another and it's just the most beautiful thing to see! Rachael is so patient and Griffin is wise in his own way.
Yes!! I was going to comment on that. They look at her with such happiness and love and the way she speaks about them is so beautiful. You can tell she was raised with so much love. They even built her her own space to be more independent 😭🥰🥰
This is how marriage with love works. They take turns talking (and with “getting [their] way next time”), she’s patient with him, & encourages him (“you’re smart”). He admits he listens to his wife (when appropriate) and doesn’t want to do bad things in front of her. Compromise, patience, encouragement, quality time together. Their union is perfect🌹just like them.
I love Rachel’s style, her necklace and gold eyeshadow are beautiful. Griffin saying he “ listens to his wife & does what she says” makes me smile….he’s a smart man realizing the key to a happy marriage “happy wife, happy life” “Love feels like life” what a beautiful saying.
@@luku22 I'm autistic, have ADHD, am severely chronically ill, and I used to live in Japan and I unfortunately felt rejected and misunderstood by a lot of people, especially older folks. "Hit the nail that sticks out" is a common saying in Japanese. It gives you an idea of the mentality. Sadly, Japan has a history of hiding people with disabilities and treating them differently (sometimes mistreating them too), but it has gotten a little bit better in recent years. However, I'd say that when it comes to mental health, disabilities and any marginalized identities, Japan is years, even decades behind North America. Also, Japanese people don't usually say what they think to your face (even when you ask them to be honest) so, it can be really difficult for autistic people to figure out what people want and mean. (Even neurotypical folks struggle with it!) You constantly have to read between the lines. It's also considered rude to ask a lot of questions and question the rules which is something I do a lot because I need to understand the logic behind everything and it was very frustrating for me to not be able to get answers and being perceived as rebellious and rude for asking.
I did too. She could feel more comfortable and independent around Griffin, he's her partner and not someone she necessarily needs to impress if that makes sense. Her parents seem to mean a lot to her and she looks for their validation, she was getting emotional while talking about how much she loves them so maybe vulnerability is difficult? I'm not sure, I'm just so happy these 2 have each other and the support they need and deserve.
I wonder if the dynamic between Rachel and Griffin has helped Rachel take on more of a maternal, independent role almost? That she might not instinctually take on with her parents
@nardinarf, you are projecting. The parents encouraged her to live more independently by giving her her own space. That is inconsistent with your view of the parents.

Awesome couple. I have Asperger’s and got diagnosed late in life at 34. I am 44 now. I cried four times today listening to this and how beautiful these two are. Maybe someday I will find a partner. It has taken me 10 years to unmask since being diagnosed. Thank you for all your interviews. Peace out love y’all.

The best thing to do is go to places & events where people with autism & Aspergers meet. They have dances, games, sports, & just hang out time. Sometimes you just gotta go find love ❤ I know there's someone special just waiting to find you too!
I was diagnosed this month, with exactly 34 y.o. I hope to be able to fully unmask and find myself. I'm so happy for reading your comment, for some reason🫂🫂🫂

They are an adorable couple! ❤ Fantastic job on both sides in regards to parenting. It's so difficult getting our kids to understand such complicated concepts regardless of their diagnoses. You guys have done well 🎉
So inspiring. I'm a mother of two handsome autistic boys. And the teenager has struggled so much and suffered a lot of disappointments trying to go on a date.
Im a mom of 2 autistic boys too. They are 3 and 4. Both cnsidered nonverbal and are such different personalities. My teenager also has adhd but i suspect he may be on the spectrum.
Both of my roommates are autistic, and I love helping them get ready for dates! Most of all, I love their stories of what happens on their dates. They can be so much fun to listen to and more genuine than I am.❤️
i am a 22 year old autistic woman (ADHD and OCD too) and i find that i do best dating/being friends with other autistic or neurodivergent individuals. i only ever met people online until i met my partner. he has ADHD and is wonderful to me but i honestly recommend mingling with other autistic people as we usually understand each other.
I have ADHD and my late boyfriend had a traumatic brain injury. He was four years younger than me and we clicked so well. I'm usually drawn to people younger than me. My boyfriend and I had pretty much the same maturity level. He loved the heck out of me and always treated me with respect. He told me he loved me every single day, multiple times. He was never annoyed if I got whiny. I'd apologize to him and he'd say "you weren't whining, you were voicing your discomfort." He praised me every day and loved me unconditionally. I treated him and loved him the same. I'm speaking in the past tense because he passed away in 2020 from a seizure caused by his traumatic brain injury. I miss him a lot and I'm afraid I'll never find that kind of love again.
Beautiful couple. They may not have what many believe a traditional marriage is, but they definitely have their own marriage. It is so obvious that they love and care for each other, know each faults but do what they can to help each other through life. In many ways, it may be better than a traditional marriage. Kudos to both their families for their support and understanding. My wishes to both of them for a very happy adventure through this life.
Me and my husband are both autistic. Thank you for telling your story, it helped me realize a few things about our relationship, and that it doesn't have to conform to Neurotypical ideals for us to be happy.
Same here. But my partner has ADHD. We have been together for 14 years but don't live together. We eat dinner together almost every night. I spend the weekends at his place. People think that it is strange that we don't live together and aren't married. But it works for us.
The honesty between them is very heartwarming. I love seeing human beings simply getting along in a compassionate and loving way. It's such a great joy for me personally and this channel always provides that for me, thank you to everyone willing to share their story and those involved in sharing it!
Love them. I actually fully support this type of relationship - love, respect, not living together, no intention of doing so because, well, they are happy the way they are. It's beautiful.
Rachel and Griffin, thank you for sharing your story. My son Mark is 24 and would love to be married and have a family. Seeing your marriage gives me hope that Mark's dream of marriage can come true, even with his autism.
i love this so much. as an autistic adult, i just love the way y'all's parents have completely supported the way you want to live your lives together. society wasn't built for autistic people, so you guys built your own type of marriage and it's so cool that it works so well!
as an audhd woman who's often held to neurotypical standards + had many exes storm out because they 'had enough of (my) behaviour', even after my best efforts at communication and explanation, this gives me hope that there's always someone out there who will love you for you, and you them ❤
Sorry but I don’t believe Griffin should be with a woman or married. He is childlike. This seems like everyone did what Rachel learned was ‘normal’ and they had griffin who can’t answer a question or think for himself available
They are so wholesome. I am auDHD and it’s always so nice to see other autistic people finding love. My friend/crush is also autistic lower-functioning/higher support than me(I don’t like to describe it that way, but I don’t know how to better describe it), and our interactions are also pretty similar to this. It can be hard to interact with an autistic person because of the loss of attention. We’re currently both teenagers (17&18). But this video gives me hope that maybe I could have a great relationship as an autistic person with another autistic person, even if they are higher support than me. It’s nice to see people with disabilities getting married and living life because sadly a lot of people with disabilities get discriminated against and can’t find people who love them like that.
As someone with Autism i loved this. My husband has adhd and autism. He helps me out a lot like Rachel. I dont always understand whats going on and cant express myself fully. This video is great for us to show we can love each other and have fulfilling relationships.
She's literally the sweetest person I've ever seen in my life or however heard. Her patience and kindness. Just radiates. What a great job those parents did!
I have 5 children and 2 are autistic and I am actually waiting for testing on my youngest child (Pretty sure he is), I am a single mother, I dont have any family or support where I live, 1 person checks on us. watching this really gives me hope that my babies will be able to be in love and get married as they are verbal and 1 is high functioning. Its so hard and I appreciate this channel so much. I cry every episode. Here where I live, I have tried to reach out for support with no success. I wish I lived in a city where I could meet other ASD families.
Super props to the parents that are meeting these two where they are. I hope these two grow old and in love together. It makes you realize that our relationships don’t have to be as complicated as we make them. How to have a happy marriage “love each other” I think a lot of people forget that.
The parents are super supportive and loving, i do wish they are able to learn a bit about asexuality as maybe that would help not think of sexual intimacy as the ultimate development in case that is not how rachel and Griffin end up proceeding. I think it's amazing they are able to live separately in their own comfort zones yet still know they have each other forever.
I certainly understand it now but had been told by teachers and professionals that that time would come. Mine came with a simple need that she understand her choices and that they both be able to respect each other’s decisions and choices.
@@AnnLutz it is awesome how you didn't make the topic taboo or consider it not necessary as some people infantalisingly do. I respect your informed decision making at the time! Sorry if it felt like criticism of your choices, instead i had hoped you had explored this option for her too and that's amazing you have! In my personal experience with it while i understood how things worked it was just never relatable and i wondered if that's what was going on.
it’s really encouraging to see the difference in how autistic men and women differ in terms of masking. i am autistic and mask heavily and i feel very seen when i see Rachael in this video
These two are really good together. The way Rachael helps Griffin and how they both love each other and compromise is great. I'm married and I'm grateful for my husband who understands and supports me and I do the same for him. I wish this type of love for everyone who wants it.

I'd say in some aspects, yes and in some no. Our lives are pretty "normal" in a lot of ways. They accommodate my autism beautifully, but we've pretty much like your average Joes, just with more sensory blocking headphones and food aversions, haha. Thank you for the question! @@CaptchaNeon
I couldn’t stop watching this video! These two are absolutely fascinating and beautiful to watch. I’m so happy they found one another and I hope they have the best life together!
I am autistic, and my husband has ADHD seeing these two people so in love just brought joy to my heart. My husband has had to learn about my eccentricities over the years but he understands me. I think more than anyone else in my life. Plus he gives great hugs with a perfect amount of pressure.❤❤❤❤
As someone who has lived with AUDHD all my life but unfortunately went misdiagnosed for 36 years (finally properly diagnosed with AUDHD at age 37), this video really helped me realize that I'm not broken or damaged. From an outsiders perspective I would probably be considered "high-functioning", but this is actually not true as I spent the majority of my life masking while struggling very much internally. I've never had a career, I've never left home, I have had many relationships & been fully intimate, but I do not want to live or sleep with my significant other which has caused most of my intimate relationships to end. I actually am fine with being with family & my best friend, it does not really bother me if I have a romantic partner or not... But hearing Rachel & Griffin's love story gives me hope that living separately with your partner is possible ❤ Thank you for sharing!
It’s totally possible. You’re just different and know what you want and what makes you most comfortable and you obviously don’t compromise/cave in for the sake if keeping your partner. So the right person will come along one day - and I’ll tell you a secret: they always come into your life when you least expect it / when you stop looking…. Just make sure you’re still going out with friends and in public so it’ll have a chance to happen. And start saying yes more. In general. It’s a thing. Look into it ❤
What a wonderful couple! I see Rachel's parents getting all the praise for their demeanors here...and I just want to say that Griffin's mom just seems like the most affirming, easygoing person ever who wants for her son what he wants for himself and just goes with it and supports it and identifies their relationship as a marriage with no ifs, ands, buts, or caveats, because that's how they define it for themselves. Everyone needs a mom like that.
This video made me so happy to see how supportive their parents are and how much they love each other. I'm autistic and sometimes I feel like I will never find someone who is my person, but this helped me feel like I can have hope that I can still meet someone who loves me and supports me like they do!
I find this video empowering because I am also an autistic adult in a long-term committed relationship. I love how their relationship differences are highlighted and celebrated. Thank you so much to this couple and their families for telling their story. ❤
I’m autistic (& other disabilities) and 27 years old; my partner of 3.5 years is not autistic or disabled but we have made it work!! It takes a lot of compromise; and radical acceptance. Household stuff is different than a couple where both adults are abled & working. My partner has seen me through meltdowns, sensory overload, shutdown, autistic burnout, depressed. He helps me a lot verbalize how I am feeling and he can always tell when I’m hungry or tired or needs my meds before even I do sometime. I know my family is happy that he educated himself & is my support cause it makes them worry less when I’m not staying at home. (With partner half the week and parents other half….its the reality for many of us who have medium/high support needs.) I know the future is unique for us & will not look like the relationships or marriages(?) of most our friends. So for anyone watching these videos whose autistic and discouraged on love- it is there and whether u find is also on the spectrum or another person abled or differently abled. And it can happen and you CAN be enough for someone who’s “normal.”….
My eldest is autistic and her bf is not. They've been together for only a few months, and I'm wondering how this will work out with him, not knowing fully the support she needs, even though she says she tells him. She's capable of taking care of herself, but not financially or anyone else.
they have applications you can fill out for an interview 🙂 i also have autism (plus ADHD, OCD and CPTSD) and i am planning on contacting them for an interview one day

„Doing things my wife says“ ❤😂 so precious!
Which is really saying something as Griffen admitted he gets frustrated when he doesn’t get his way of what he wants.
I think Rachel lets him have his was a lot of the time by her interactions. Such a calming person she comes across as
You can see the adoration they have for each other. Just beautiful
Is this not just everyman?
@@dantemedici8179Too many, sadly. This is why I will never married.
Griffin smarter than he sounds (no offense meant by that at all!) he’s really got some stuff figured out better than majority of men like 😂 like he may not articulate very well but he does articulate the most important parts ❤
😂😂😂❤
I don’t think Griffin necessarily misunderstood the last question. I think that his genuine answer to “How can someone have a happy marriage?” is “by marrying Rachael!” That’s what worked for him! 🥺
Lol that's so cute !
Yes that answer is kinda deep .It like how can I not be happy I got Rachael.
@beckyshell4649 exactly maybe he even meant that. 🙂👍♥️🥰🤗
❤
that was funny. because you have down syndrome is why you have autism hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah i don't even have down syndrome by the way because but still that was so funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No matter the situation, it’s always the woman helping the man recall the details of the story in the story😂. I love this. Too cute. 🥰
I know right🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪 am listening this from Kenya and am like even if it's a couple that's not on the spectrum it's the woman who remembers the details.... 😅😅😅😅 men will not remember these things
aw she's so kind and gentle and loving. I'm so happy for them both that they have found someone who is a fit
Rachel is so incredibly articulate and thoughtful, she’s like a perfect mentor to someone with more advanced autism.
She is very pretty also
@@twelvelookslike She reminds me of someone - some actress - I can’t quite put my finger on who but it’ll come to me later I’m sure 😅
Edit: Emma Stone!
She’s probably more functioning or maybe has a less severe case
@@emprezeshthank you for explaining autism and how the spectrum works. 😊
“What does love feel like?” “Love feels like life.”
“How do you feel when she says she loves you?” “I feel happy.” “And, grateful.”
I’m in love with the parents. This is one of the sweetest documentaries I’ve ever seen ❤
"if someone wants to have a happy marriage, what should they do?"
"They should love each other"
Why do people generally not understand this. Very profound. Lovely job interviewing these two Chris! You're very talented at what you do
Love isn't enough and you can love someone and still not be right for them. A marriage takes work.
I agree. There is something to be said about his “simple” response. Don’t over complicate things. Just live!
💯 loved this answer from him too!
Love is life
yeah. Such an easy yet profound answer. ❤
"Doing what my wife says" lmfao you are damn right brother!

He is onto something here!!
Limited as he may be, he quickly picked up on that very important pro tip!
That made me lol and he’s not wrong, either.
He's learned the secret quite fast! Good for you Griffin , you'll be married for life!

You will :) ! There’s love for everyone! My friends fiancé has autism! But my friend doesn’t. And they both just learned to understand and love each other

I am autistic and it took me 8 years to find someone. But it was worth the wait. My partner has ADHD. We have been together for almost 13 years.
Of course you will find love. You need to find the right person who loves you unconditionally. Do not settle for less, and be a good partner yourself.
“Love feels like life” absolutely. People always ask what love is or what it feels like, and I think that’s the best answer.
I do not understand it.
Rachael is so sweet and mature, yet innocent. They're so cute together. May Allah keep them safe and well for long and healthy lives! They're so supportive of one another and it's just the most beautiful thing to see! Rachael is so patient and Griffin is wise in his own way.

Yes as marriage should be.
I love Rachel’s style, her necklace and gold eyeshadow are beautiful.
Griffin saying he “ listens to his wife & does what she says” makes me smile….he’s a smart man realizing the key to a happy marriage “happy wife, happy life”

I’m honestly curious about what the views are around disabilities in Japan.
@@ShikisaiMaki thank you for answering. I can definitely see how some of the cultural norms would make it very difficult to navigate.

Did anyone notice that Rachel was being a little different in front of her parents and more confident and articulate with Griffin.
They could be controlling
Yeah
I wonder if the dynamic between Rachel and Griffin has helped Rachel take on more of a maternal, independent role almost? That she might not instinctually take on with her parents
@nardinarf, you are projecting. The parents encouraged her to live more independently by giving her her own space. That is inconsistent with your view of the parents.
Love Rachel’s dimples and her brother’s expression when she revealed his marital status! 😂

So inspiring. I'm a mother of two handsome autistic boys. And the teenager has struggled so much and suffered a lot of disappointments trying to go on a date.
Dating coaches help tremendously.
Im a mom of 2 autistic boys too. They are 3 and 4. Both cnsidered nonverbal and are such different personalities. My teenager also has adhd but i suspect he may be on the spectrum.
don't feel too bad, it's not just autistic young men that struggle with that nowadays
I couldn’t stop smiling all through this video. All of it even with the parents speaking about them. I hope they are happy with each other forever!❤
I love these two.

Same here. But my partner has ADHD. We have been together for 14 years but don't live together. We eat dinner together almost every night. I spend the weekends at his place. People think that it is strange that we don't live together and aren't married. But it works for us.
@Lilycat5 please don't be offended when I asked this but why have you all decided not to live together and what level of autism do you both have.

It says so much that the one thing Griffin never struggles to articulate is how he feels about Rachel ❤
Rachael is one of the sweetest souls I have ever come across. The amount of love and gratitude she expresses is just...amazing.

I agree - I also had this thought!
I certainly understand it now but had been told by teachers and professionals that that time would come. Mine came with a simple need that she understand her choices and that they both be able to respect each other’s decisions and choices.

But hearing Rachel & Griffin's love story gives me hope that living separately with your partner is possible ❤
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for sharing your experience, ❤.
Look into it ❤
I am so glad that you got the help you needed. Do you have any suggestions for getting diagnosed?
Damn doctors giving out that diagnosis like candy these days. Every ditzy cray cray girl now has one. Ffs
This is the sweetest. I admire the couple’s parents for all of their love , guidance and support.
(With partner half the week and parents other half….its the reality for many of us who have medium/high support needs.)
I know the future is unique for us & will not look like the relationships or marriages(?) of most our friends.
