Gabe Goes Bowling! Autistic, Nonverbal Teen learns the art of bowling and takes on the arcade!

- Gabe is autistic and nonverbal! His therapist Kiana takes him to do different activities for two hours each week. He has recently started to enjoy bowling!
His bonus mom and I decided to take him to the local bowling alley that he has been to with Kiana. He was so happy!
Gabe loves loud and exciting places, this was the perfect activity for our family!
First we started by using the ramp but eventually Gabe took it upon himself to try bowling without it! We were shocked and so proud of him for trying it his own way! He made so much progress in just an hour. He was paying attention to where the bowling ball ended up and seemed proud of himself with each try!
Afterwards we headed to the arcade! Gabe learned how to play ski ball for the first time and even succeeded in making one in at the very end! It was an awesome feeling to see him do so well! Even just trying is a huge accomplishment! Later we shot hoops in the arcade which was my favorite part of the afternoon! Stay tuned for that video!

Gabe’s world is constantly getting larger ❤ Caroline is a natural born teacher and mother. The patience she shows is absolutely incredible❣️Way to go Gabe and his mamas 🎉🎉🎉
I can't read his feelings, but he seems to enjoy it. You two are doing a very good job and are there for Gabe, God bless you. Five years ago I did a photo exhibition, I'm a photographer, and I noticed a boy who was standing in front of the pictures completely excited, the next day he was back. His mother told me that he was obsessed with photos and photography. He is also autistic and rarely speaks even though he can. I invited him to my studio and he loved it. After I explained the technique to him, he immediately wanted to take photos and obviously remembered everything I explained to him. Since that day he has come to my studio very often and now he has his own key. He also does exhibitions but he never goes there when there are visitors, he doesn't like it when there are too many people.

I have ADHD and suffer from social phobia. I also somehow live in my own world, so that I often find it difficult to understand the "normal" world. I'm fascinated by people like Gabe. I'd love to know what Gabe's thoughts are on a day like this. I hope I didn't write anything wrong? It's always nice what Gabe mother does for her wonderful son. Gabe is a great young man and always looks well dressed. I think and hope that he is a happy man.
You may have social phobia and you might have the combined disorder: ADHD & Autism.... Gabe indeed, he always looks to handsome, and he can speak with his hands, but he rarely does, in the videos
I have really bad social anxiety but my boyfriend and sister forced me to go bowling recently and I actually enjoyed myself towards the end. Sometimes you just gotta push yourself or have someone push you to face your fears

Very very good parents, patient and loving but I can promise you they don't have time for pillow talk at night their head hits the pillow and they are asleep it is stressful to keep this pace up

I coach 3 children with autism. 1 is non-verbal. We have a great time every Saturday! We integrated them into our teen bowling league and all of our kids help each other. Acceptance is our biggest rule. That's one of the reasons I LOVE bowling, everyone can do it. It's one of the most inclusive sports. Great job, Gabe!

Sensory overload.........lights, talking, noises, pacing, music, flashing, .......just breathe and take your time.......he is fabulous
From what I've seen, Gabe doesn't seem as sensitive to overstimulation from this kind of thing as many other autistic kids are. Gabe seems to do just fine among large crowds with lots of activity and noise.

Not everyone with autism gets over stimulated. In fact, some thrive better with lots of stimulation and Gabe appears to fall into that category
I love the way he had “Happy Feet” when you put on his bowling shoes. It looks like this really is Gabe’s Happy Place because he just wanted to dance away. Loved this vlog. Great job mom’s!
My favorite part
Most adults would not go so far from their comfort zone. Gabe is definitely trying hard because you are able to see the immense progress and he's proud. Gabe's Mom, you are doing a magnificent job with your son! Blessings to all of Gabe's family. 🥰
Both Moms are doing the best for Gabe as not selfish and share lovingly. Gabe is this happy as trusts his Moms and friends introduced to.

As a Christian guy that's on the older side I keep a prayer journal because I can't remember from day to day who I want to be praying for lol. I have Gabe on my prayer list so I remember to pray for him every day (hey, it works lol). When I pray for him and I also see a new video up I get excited!!!
I can see Gabe processing things at a hundred miles per hour mentally so I was really curious to see how he was going to deal with a really busy place with tons of lighting input like the arcade. So many lights demanding his attention all at once was like an overload but he did great, I was feeling very proud of him.
The bowling part - I wish they offered those side rails sooner, it looked like a awesome idea so every ball wouldn't go into the gutter. It must have been a wonderful feeling for him to see some of those pins fall down once he got the point lol.

I know you moms know almost everything there is to know about autism and I know nothing, but watching Gabe made me wonder if it would be possible for him to communicate using simple American Sign Language. My grandchildren learned how to sign before they could talk watching Signing Time videos. He just never gave up on his bowling. So calm and great to see.❤

Nice ambient glow on those lanes. Every bowling alley I've ever been in was way too brightly lit. That one looks cool.
This looks like so much fun. I like bowling too, or actually any kind of sport where it al comes down to aiming at the right spot. But I actually have gotten less good at it because I rarely ever get to do it anymore and going to those kind of places by myself is something I'd never do.
If I would be closer to you I would love to hang out with you guys some day.

Gabe is very sensitive to the noise of music and to the collision of the bowling pins and the ball. Does Gabe gets tired quickly and does he show it? It seems that the music catches his attention and he shows it with his head.
What he did is a very great achievement. Don't worry if he doesn't do it with the strength that you do and thank you for doing various activities with him
