    Nice install. I used to do a bit of trade with with irrigation. I always used the hard PVC pipe for mains and laterals and then used a a T fitting with flex pipe to attach the pop up heads.

    We used to rent a portable air compressor at the course I worked at, to blow the water out of the lines. With a deep frost line, what can you do with a home system like this to drain the water out before winter freezes the lines?
    Edit: Been watching the videos for a while now, very informative. I've began assembling some materials to start fixing up my yard. A lot of crab grass, and clover to take care of. Thanks for the videos!

    Haven't seen that type for flex pipe stuff used for a irrigation system very cool! (PVC pipe is mainly used in my area) as a side note for people who live in colder climates, i wouldn't recommend the way they hooked up the water off the exterior house faucet. it's very susceptible to freezing and breaking, unless you can shut off the water in the house (where it's warm) to that particular faucet and drain it so it's can't/won't freeze. that's a sweet trench shovel @ 8:50 gotta get one of them!!

    • @jackmeoff7686
      @jackmeoff7686 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are pumps that can do that. Might want to check your residency’s laws on how much pressure they’re legally meant to give you and how much you’re getting. 300+ kpa should be fine. You could get a rain water tank, fill it up, buy and connect a pump that has decent pressure then connect your irrigation system to that and you won’t have to worry about too little pressure coming from your mains water.

    Just curious, I have a grassed yard that I am just not happy with. I would like to introduce a irrigation system into my yard. I assume I would first need to get my plans and send them to you (or an irrigation company) to get a plan of what I actually need. With something like this what type of money would you be looking at assuming I do all the hard work myself. I understand it would change depending on how many heads I need but cost of things like the Hunter irrigation system in the garage doesn’t look cheap

    • @jackmeoff7686
      @jackmeoff7686 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard to determine actually. The amount of sprinklers, piping/hose for the sprinklers and dimensions of your land of where you want it your irrigation all come into play. Better off emailing him or an irrigation company :p

      With the Hunter MP Rotators they have a "double pop" when the heads come up and recede so they flush themselves. A pressure regulator would be a wise investment especially when using polypipe like in this installation.

      Unfortunately it wouldn’t be suited for Perth.

    • @phizzle24
      @phizzle24 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shaun kw I’m in Jane Brook (up Toodyay Rd a little bit behind Swan View) so I have sandy soil that doesn’t hold water and 3 seperate grasses areas (6 zone retic including a garden bed per lawn). Side lawn is buffalo, great in winter, poo in summer. It’s slowly been taken over by couch/kikuyu from lack of washing the mower between areas (lesson learnt!). Front and back are typical Nullarbor couch but the backyard getting invaded by Kikuyu from neighbours grass getting in. That’s why I want to go with TifTuf, high resistance to weeds/other grass but also because it’ll use way less water and be easier to keep up to spec. If I had more of a budget I’d definitely go for Sir Grange but it’s about 2x the $/m2. But I’d rather spend that on better quality replacement soil (dig out and replace 150-200mm) as the difference after that would be minimal in my opinion. I will use exclusively Hunter MP rotators for the lawns as well, near impossible to beat in a home situation.
