the intro to Rest My Chemistry is so beautiful, maybe the best few seconds of music I've ever heard, I have it as my ringtone/morning alarm haha Leif Erikson is also an amazing track, almost every track off Turn On the Bright Lights is a masterpiece, except maybe Hands Away though that's pretty good too
Sam Fogarino is the drummer for Interpol, he always has great drumlines that are an integral part of their music. Also, you mention that this is an upbeat and lively song and it's ironic that it's called Evil, Paul Banks, the vocalist, often has obscure lyrics, he's said in an interview it's about "the art of falling apart," maybe a person changes from their usual personality and becomes evil. He also mentions "Rosemary" in the song, so most people have theorized that the song is partly about Fred and Rosemary West. Given your accent, what I believe is a London/UK accent, I believe you have probably heard about that English serial killer couple, they were from Gloucestershire, really insidious backstory to the song when you think about it in that context, hence the title of the song.
just discovered your videos! very excited to watch someone experience some of my fav songs for the first time! also v surprised these dont get more views your reactions are wildly entertaining
Mf… I’m American and never seen you. That aggressive intro with projects in the backdrop then you instantly bobbing your head just all love. Thanks for the reaction bruh that was wholesome I needed something positive
Nostalgiaaaaaaa. I had two different boyfriends dedicate songs to me on the radio. This one and the other boy dedicated the misfists last caress. It makes for some interesting self reflection as a teen. Same radio station a few years apart.
On top of the cohesion of the lyrics/story, this song has the best dynamics, and restraint I’ve come across in a long time. With the drums and base firmly locked in their groove, it’s hard to believe that they were able to just keep it from exploding all over the last bits of the song. Because, in my mind at least, the song is begging for more than just the “slow release”. But, ultimately, they played their cards right and when the recording and mixing were done, they had a masterpiece. A special moment in time where everything came together greater than the sum of its parts. Lol, just kidding, these guys are talentless hacks. 😉
I thought it was about JFK's sister "Rosemary" who got put into a mental hospital? "It took a life spent with no cell mate." she was insanely catatonic and was riddled with mental health issues. The Kennedy family put her out of the public eye and locked her away due to embarrassment and fear that people would find out about her having the IQ of a 2 year old. There's also a famous picture of both JFK and Rosemary on the beach, hence the lyric, "I could take you places, maybe to the beach." I saw a whole video about this, and it gave me chills. tbf, you should check it out

This whole album is 🔥🔥🔥
One or the best of all time
the first 3 albums are all fire.
@@jack_rabbit I like the third but first two are masterpieces. Third was a step down but it’s unfair to compare.
unpopular opinion, interpol, the album, it's incredible too, seriously give it a chance music critics don't know anything lallalaallalalalalalal
If you liked this one check “Roland” or “Rest My Chemistry” out! Or hell, just pick an Interpol song and you won’t go far wrong!
Not sure I could ever pick a favorite Interpol song but Rest My Chemistry is up at the top for sure.
