@@70_Torino_Guy that's the look I'm after with my 74 Ranchero. Proper stance. Bigger wheels, and tires. One day, bigger brakes. With the chosen Wiend intake, I can't get the air cleaner under the hood, so a shotgun style, butterfly flap scoop will be on there, on top of a 0.060 over 460. 😏
68-71 Ford 460 was rated at 365 horsepower and 490 ft/lbs of torque. Nice 351w based stroker. Would love to see that engine with a set of high ports, custom grind camshaft and 13.5:1 compression with a 1150 Dominator on it!!

In Australia there has been many engine builder's getting 460 out of Windsors for the last 20 years the first one I saw had an offset ground 400 crank with 360 mopar rods and long skirt high pin blower pistons it was the first experimental that opened the flood gates👍🏻
It would be really cool to build a similar BB 460 with really nice cylinder heads, similar camshaft and similar compression and compare the two. Measure the difference in weight and the difference in performance.
Always remember the 385 series can go as big as 800 c i if you want a big inch engine. Also could be all aluminum block, cylinder head, water pump. Whatever you CAN afford. Speed costs, how fast you wanna go.
@@j.e.d.8065 yep, just cause they both have 460ci it doesn't have anything to do with all the other variables. Piston speeds, head flow, intake flow etc. A 385 series I'd guess would out do it and not even break a sweat. Look at the intake port size on the windsor heads. A 385 head, even a c8,c9, or dove head is so much bigger. Let alone a cj head you can shove a tennis ball down. I'd bet a set of good Cleveland heads would work killer on the big inch small block.

There is no intake that will bolt up to a set of Clevor heads that will flow enough to feed 460 inches. @Brock Main3 naw dog, they're not good. Popular yes. But it's because they are cheap in all areas, cost, performance, quality. Just because you mass produce turds for X amount of years does not mean it's good. LS lovers need to try learning actual motor mechanics instead of an easy outdated performance. Sure 30yrs ago they were a thing. Now days there are way more engines and way better engines than any LS. You can get way more performance all around if you run a DOHC.

Nice Video as always. In my experience, the oil pickup should never contact the bottom the oil pan, which is why it is absolutely critical to get that 3/8" clearance. I go through the trouble of even welding a small washer to the sides of the pickup, sticking down a 1/4 inch just in case the flat bottom oil pan is pushed up by accident.
I've been kicking around engine possibilities for 10 years since my last 408ci Windsor! 4v, 3v, 2v, and Stroked SBF, LS or SBC's, even 4 or 6 cylinder turbo combinations. FINALLY I've been shown what will reside between the strut towers of my 93 Cobra! I've got goosebumps!
I had a 351w, and was able to get 418ci stroker out of it plus with a nice choppy Comp Cam and all high performance I was getting about 550hp. Not to bad for a 69 block.
I have always noticed when running carb style throttle bodies you always loose horsepower by running them open , can pick power by having a velocity stack it cleans up the airflow quite a bit .
In front of a built reverse pattern AODE with a ratchet shifter and 4.11 gears in a 67 fastback. All I was thinking was you could make that power.. cheaper with a bbf
Impressive numbers. Incredible engineering. Beautiful Engine.
Excellent presentation.
Awesome information.
Extremely Well done. 👍
I wish I could have one for my Z32.
Wow... someone putting an actual ford motor in a fox body instead of an LS for a change...
@Brock Main3 - All I can say is the LS is leaps and bounds ahead of the old tried and (mostly) true small blocks that began appearing in late 1954.
Parts are just cheaper. Wait for the hating to begin.
@@glennsambrana2919 people don’t think and hate. Obviously LS is a great balance of flow and cost. I just like seeing variety of brands/displacements/designe
I’m a big ford guy I don’t know why but it just bugs me for some reason that guys put Chevy motors in fords and or the other way around when guys put ford motors in Chevy vehicles I was just stating that I see a lot of fox bodies and other ford cars with an LS in it so it was kinda cool seeing someone sticking with ford power
Another engine to make the average guy's mouth water thinking about having it in his/her favorite project! Thank you!
Love to put that in my '79 F250 with 6in of lift on 35 in Mickey M/T I have that older 460 in it now bored 30 over with 750 holley on top. Said to be putting out around 450hp. Does the trick for the moment
I had a 79 F250 myself, school bus yellow with a 400 and a 4 spd. Would've loved a 460, bored and stroked to 557!
@@donellmuniz590 same color as mine. I've had it sitting for some years now. Had 4 kids. Truck had to sit. But now it's bout time to get her back out and get her going again. I would love to put this awesome motor in a Factory Five Daytona Cobra
ohhh God how dare you put that expensive idea into my head!
@@docstruthers Hows this for an even bigger Jolt as that Dart Block can be as big as 477 cubic inches Safely !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and When I when the Lotto that is what I am doing with a 03-04 Mustang Cobra rear end , which is an Independent Rear end
I'd put that into a 1994-2004 Mustang...fits like a glove, the right weight, and could road race or drag...
It would also look good in a '50's vintage Ford F100..
I have one in a Superformance. Wicked

Hate it when a rod takes a vacation!
Been there
Fox body Mustang. 1981 Cobra or Mercury Capri RS. The owner has the right idea! Love the 4.38 bore spacing 9.5 deck with TFS Twisted Wedge 225s and its 1.46 L/R ratio and undersquare bore to stroke...dont hurt it none. WAY TO GO!
Damn .... That's just nice ! Well done ! Love that flat assed torque curve -
Yeah its as flat as a table. A real stump puller.
I like Ford v8's, i like windsors, I like 460's ! I love this 460 Windsor! Awesome !😊 Cheers from New Zealand
almost got chills when it revved up
This is amazing and I love the attention to detail of the engine builder. Amazing power and torque numbers on a na engine. This would get me into serious trouble if I dropped it into my 89 LX 5.0 convertible!
Great idea on the washers. It would have saved me at least one race!
I would love to see this in my mates 70 convertible Mustang, he's just woken out of a coma, love to see his car do the same.
Love this video
I had a 351w, and was able to get 418ci stroker out of it plus with a nice choppy Comp Cam and all high performance I was getting about 550hp. Not to bad for a 69 block.
69-74 are the best factory 351w.I had a 74 out of a ltd and built it for torque, put 354 thousand HARD miles on it and it would not die.
They really opened up those intake runners on the heads, with that slight taper design that produces more velocity.
I think that would be awesome in a 65 coupe with a TKX behind it. Sweet motor, appreciate the attention to detail throughout out the build process.
have a 1970 ford f100 that would be wicked in. the patina is awesome. it looks like and old farm truck the 390 is great but this would be wow
I have always noticed when running carb style throttle bodies you always loose horsepower by running them open , can pick power by having a velocity stack it cleans up the airflow quite a bit .
I have a '49 Studebaker pickup that would be great in! Run it with a TKO 5speed and have fun.
it would work in my 73 bronco.
Front breather, rear sump - work great in a Camaro or Corvette
In front of a built reverse pattern AODE with a ratchet shifter and 4.11 gears in a 67 fastback. Electric steering and brakes, TCP/Global West suspension etc… I think the problem would be getting ALL of it to the ground. Would definitely be checking out other NA builds via the rear view mirror with that combo!!! Lol Not that I just mentioned my dream build or anything… $$$$$$$$$$
Still love the push rod engines over the OHC types. Cheaper to build and nostalgic to boot. jmho.
Did my SB 460 almost 15yrs ago. World products block and the very first Scat 4.250 crank for a SB that they made.
The port matching was awesome! Thanks!
Thanks a lot! And thanks for watching
Awesome engine set up. I'm doing the same block 427w with Molnar forged crank, Molnar forged rods and weisco pistons etc and a set of 240 cc tfs hi ports. Pump gas at 11.2:1 set up. Can't wait to fire it up this year
Those are good parts!
We need lots of video of that new stroker Matt......

itsa mustang 2 with a nice er interioe 😆😆 i loved em had a few mustangs an mavericks around that era dont remember a capri with a v8? did Ford ever do that one? i prolly just never saw one personally bein from rural ark
This thing would be fantastic in one of the new Broncos
Great build. 1969 lincoln 460 is 360 hp
Granted it did that with a .440 lift cam and heads that flowed 250/135 cfm at that lift
Throw an endless credit card limit, and the 460 with heads, forged pistons, big cam, headers, and say the same thing! And the stroke on the 385 block is " 3.85" ".
Great looking monster. I like the fact that you men ran it with carbs, then with the fuel injected. Easy to see the difference on the screen. Love it, what a monster.
they were not carbs ,they were Throttle injection
That's a lot of heavy metal to balance the crank. Awesome build!
A 385 series Ford 460 has a 4.360" bore the stroke is 3.85".
I love this channel! It'd be really cool if you included build costs.
Beautiful build. Well done. I absolutely love the detail you bring to us viewers. Perfectly explained.

1963 Fairlane, 4 spd top loader.
Great Show guys……..l think this motor could go in anything. The front throttle set up had more port velocity then the top set up does making more power in my opinion

Thanks a lot! And thanks for watching!
460 in a Windsor small block. That. Is. INSANE. :D :D :D I WANT ONE! :D
SBC's go to 490"...
I want TWO
@@BuzzLOLOL NOPE there is no SBC in a stock dimension block that can go over 434. A SBF has 9.5 deck SBC is 9.025 with limit cam to rod clearance. A SBF can swing a 4.175 stroke with minor grinding. That stroke in a SBC is not going to happen without a $$$$$custom block. 1 SBF aftermarket block has 9.8 deck so you can build up to 500cu in.
I've almost completed a 1971 Boss 351 clone that would love that engine. I"m using an old school 351C block with Rebuild Australian heads 670 Holley and Protonix electronic ignition to try and keep it period correct.
I bet thats gunna be a really fun car when done It will get up and go
Tell you what, the new 7.3L (445CID) Ford V8 would have been another good option. But still early days for that platform.
eep up the informative and interesting content.
Guys are feverishly working on it for sure. They are putting down well over a thousand hp on those godzilla motors.
Popular Hot Rodding did a 454 Windsor built with the then new FoMoCo aluminum z351 block. I can not remember exactly what they used, my feeling is they had a higher compression ratio. Anyway, that one pulled 730 horse, normally asperated. That build they did was when the new block came out. Maybe 5 years ago.
Love to put that in a shelby cobra replica. 😁
Yeah I was thinking a GT40 replica.
Absolutely

How bout a boat?
351w is one of my favorite two Ford engines. With the other being a 460.
So this one tickles both those fancies
Surprise, surprise on intake test. I thought the single throttle body would have more torque and hp at the lower end, below 5000 rpm. I was pleasantly surprised it out performed the twin throttle bodies top by a substantial margins. Great test. Just goes to see the dyno was a great de-liar. Test results and graphs tell the true tale.
