    Thanks for another awesome video! My father passed away recently and this video really meant a lot to me. When I was about 12 years old I built a big block with my dad and he let me do everything every step of the way. Thanks for the quality content bringing back awesome memories!

    I’m guessing an extra 110 HP from the bigger cam. That’s the most beautiful, efficient, and effective big block that I’ve ever seen - just WOW!!! Keep up the great work, guys!!!👍

    Great video. I'm surprised it made that much power with that little of camshaft. Those cubes and those cylinder heads, a camshaft with 266@50 intake 278@50 exhaust 110-112lsa and around .780" lift, I'd guess would increase power by approx 70-80hp. An extra point of compression would be nice too

    Years back I used to run a all Dart 540 with a solid roller cam. After just several hundred miles on it, it snapped a lifter ear off and the needle bearings just wiped the bottom end out. I wished I had your current lifters back then. It cost me over 12 grand and didn’t last long at all. I know people that read this will give negative feedback, but I since have gone LS with a procharger. But much love to the BBC!

    I’d say 50-75 more hp with the larger cam. I feel some was left on the table with other things too. Thinner ring pack and vacuum pump, as well as slightly more compression, maybe 10.8-1. Still on 93 of course.

    • @JamesBrown-ux9ds
      @JamesBrown-ux9ds 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Without complaining, 50-75 is quite a spread. With 35 to 110 I would always 'be correct'. I guessed around 70-80 hp so we can cross both our fingers - new timings still way from extreme, so low to midrange torque should not suffer too much.

    • @JamesBrown-ux9ds
      @JamesBrown-ux9ds 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      AMG Mercedes now brings 421 hp out of two Liters @6.750/min. 5x obviously 2100 hp. At least 1200 - 1300 hp should this engine here do @ 6700/min with a little bit of boost - it would be so nice to see.😊

    • @JohnThomas-vb9se
      @JohnThomas-vb9se 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@JamesBrown-ux9ds there’s a lot to factor in on my guess. Some of the variables are the dyno sessions happening on different days, the other is how close the camshaft is actually ground in relation to the cam card. They’re never perfect. You’re talking a 2-3 percent differential between 850-875hp as an end result. There’s more of a correction factor than that in the Sniper ECU.

      Well that post was a long time ago but basically get a set of dart pro-1 355cc runners cnc ported use a tall profiler intake and I used a prosystems single blade carburetor built just for this engine I used 1.7 rockers steel rocker arms with 7/16 pushrods 80 wall I don't have the lobe numbers in front of me right now cuz it's late at night here but the duration was 271 at 50 on the intake and 276 at 50 on the exhaust hydraulic roller from comp. If I'm not mistaken the lift was around 750. If I was at my shop I could give you the exact lobe numbers. I had it made on a 112 LSA and I degreed it in 108. Make sure to port match the profiler intake to the cylinder heads that's very important. And I think my timing was 34 on 93 octane and 37 on 110 octane. You're going to want a 2.250 primary header with a three and a half inch collector.
      There's obviously a lot more to it than this but that will get you in the right direction
      FYI I have built the same engine with 271 at 50 on both intake and exhaust and it is a torque monster so don't be scared to try that .

      @@puppygadget3189 So with all your intelligence I'm guessing you thought Prices were going to drop after coming off a Pandemic, when you have a Government that won't work together and vote down every idea one side comes up with because they don't want said side to achieve anything that may make them look good and we pay the price, he had a plan to stop Oil Companies from Price gouging and the Republicans shut it down, why ? Because they don't want the other side to look good and we all pay the price, we need to get rid of all of them and start over with term limits.

    Honestly I've never been a huge fan of Comp's custom grinds. So often you see an exhaust lobe that is bigger than the intake in almost every way. For those heads I'd be looking for a cam with a good 12 degrees of split @ .050, around .700-.730 lift on the exhaust, and a whopping .800ish lift on the intake.

      The efi is hilariously better than any kind of carbureted setup you can put on there. The efi offers a much more efficient fuel delivery system. Especially when your trying to get the max horsepower gains with bigger cams with longer duration. This way you can insure the proper amounts of fuel at the proper time.

      @@jeffreyeaton9934 they might make peak horsepower relative to other carbureted setups but there is a very good reason that going from carbureted to efi is considered an upgrade. The efi is able regulate pressure and amount of fuel sent through the intake. I know that new carburetors are much more efficient than they used to be but will never be on the same level as efi. It's just not possible my friend.
