    I like Travis self-taught vibe and fact he's successful into developing something of his own style, so distintive yet really genius, and you the haters, so called yourself a pro and think you could play with better technic but end up sounds like everybody anywhere else. One thing I hate about drummer is when they has a privilage and all that stuff like attending drumming school then bitchin' other drummer who has the style like Travis does have. In the end, everything is about feeling and enjoyment, I respect 'bout theory tho but come on man, fuck that shit...

    There's something people need to understand while watching videos like this... The two artists are jamming out together, they are not trying to one up each other. Music is an expression and there is no right or wrong way to do it, there are no winners. Anything like a "drum off" or a "battle of the bands" is just a fancy way to market something.
    We have football and hockey to give us competitions. When it comes to music, it's about chilling out and enjoying the show

    • @danmoar5102
      @danmoar5102 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well in a battle of the bands comp with prizes, it's a literal competition to win a prize, so

    • @michaelwinans4853

      So much this. I remember doing a "battle of the bands" in high school, and someone was surprised that I let a guy from the previous band borrow my bass strap because he forgot his. Wtf am I supposed to do, make him sit on the floor and play??

    • @dannyhawkeye1412
      @dannyhawkeye1412 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know I’m mega late on the comment but yes thank you. I at no point read drum off as competition I read it as how they did it just back and forth jam

    • @stanpopovsky
      @stanpopovsky 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      However, they show everything they are capable of. Just because it's jam doesn't mean they're equally good. They don't just have different styles - one of them is better. And who is better is obvious. I'm a big No Douth fan and I love what the drummer is doing there, but Baker is a monster. He's just better and it's not a matter of taste.

    @rowerss Vinnie Colaiuta is better, for one. Not just better, but by lightyears. If you were to compare their drumming vocabularies, Travis' would be a children's book, Vinnie's would be the Oxford Dictionary. As far as covers go, there's a kid on youtube here named Cobus that does better covers than Travis. And a guy called tbartels that does the best Tool covers. There's also a guy I know here in Calgary called Jim Llewellyn, who's been playing since the sixties, that can cover anything.

    It's funny, because most people who say Travis sucks say "I could play what he plays." So basically what you're saying is that for someone to be considered good they have to make a beat or song that NO ONE ELSE EVER can learn how to play?
    Being good drummer doesn't just mean to have skills. You also need creativity and showmanship, and Travis has this, plus skill.

  • @PoeticJustice05
    @PoeticJustice05 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @dawilal I'll deny that last point. Vinnie Colaiuta is still lightyears more creative than Travis, even when hired to play popular music. You want an example? Listen to "Seven Days" by Sting; Vinnie's his hired gun, and the drum part he conceived for that song is legendary. And it's in 5/4, something Travis has never done in his life.

  • @PoeticJustice05
    @PoeticJustice05 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @docduo Maybe. I know a lot of guys that have been playing a long time but never improve because they don't step out of their comfort zone. That's why I doubt Travis will ever truly be great, he's good, no one can deny that, but nothing I or many other non-professional drummers can't do.

    @JustusMax80 Metal drummers can easily play this. Punk music is like the baby version of metal. They incorporate a lot of the same techniques, same fills, etc. The real difference is in the double bass.

    @Derjumba2forever Vinnie plays EVERY style. And I can compare them because no matter what, Vinnie is better, by far, by way far.

  • @FrederikWeile
    @FrederikWeile 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    Neither of these are very talented to be honest... Especially not compared to drummers like Neil Pearth, Danny Carey or Mike Portnoy

    @ETSJoshVoxx No, you're right, he definitely is better than Travis, and should be on that list, although near the bottom end.

    @jacobsmith78 no I didn't. Those guys don't measure up to the drummers I mentioned. They're hardly a class above Travis.

    its not that he is better than everyone else it is that he knows what sounds good and he understands what's necessary in a song and that shows that he is a musician not the best drummer ever but he is extremely creative and you cannot take that away from him.

      So he is better then everyone else because that the purpose of drums in music

    @xtremdansio if you think Travis Barker is the best drummer in the world you know nothing about drumming.

    @AsianInABox Hahahaha what the hell?I dont dig Firstly, this comment does not have any relevance to mine, and secondly.. what?!
    In my comment, I meant that Just Beiber is just so talked about (im not a fan or a 'hater'- but i dont like him) What im saying, is that Justin is the sucker of singing, and Travis is the sucker of drumming. As in he sucks. Travis only plays really simple beats very very loud. Its not technical, theres no feel. end of. Whats with your justin rant?.. confused :/ Ya Dig?

    Adrian Young isn't good like, at all in my opinion... Travis has a background of marching, jazz, punk, ska, and hip hop, which makes him kinda versatile, but that marching snare solo sucked balls.... He could be so much better if he tried to drum like Royster or some jazzy guy... Blink will always be my favorite band though, go trav

    @phengaman Yeah, I don't like this "he is better than him" argument too but in this case it's not just a diffrent style and way of drumming, these guys are far far away than Travis Barker or Adrian Young. But Yeah, ech one has his own type of style and it's normal situation. Sorry for my english, Peace, and Marry Christmas for everyone : )

    @TuckerWeems94 Saw him when he was with the Ska band Aquabats in Cincy at Bogarts. The opened for that one hit wonder band he did a cover of come on Eline. If you ask me he saw an chance to get money with Blink when Scott didn't sow up and jumped on it. I would have done the same thing.

    Listen, travis barker is a great drummer, preformer, and over all person, he was great in blink 182, +44, and sum 41. But the only reason he won is because he is insanly fast. And to all the people who say eather of these drumers suck, id like to see you do better.

  • @JoeyvanLeeuwen
    @JoeyvanLeeuwen 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is ok. The sad thing is that the things that are the hardest to play don't sound good to non-drummers. The snare drum solo was kind of interesting. But check out say, Eric Moore or Dave Grohl, Vinnie Colaiuta, et cetera. These guys have a long way to go.
