I'm happy that you decided to branch out. I worry about how easy it is for content creators to become boxed into one singular niche due to audience interaction. I am hoping this reaches your audience and more because I want you to enjoy the content you produce! It's YOUR content! You won't be happy making things solely for other people.

Tears of the kingdom could of used a bit more dark gothic elements honestly id love twilight princess remake in a more open world element with alot more depth and content not going to lie or ocarina style i miss the horror elements tears of the kingdom does well alot but i always feel like alots missing in the kinds of styles they could of explored in them even tears of the kingdom feels short to me and i spent thousands of hours in it

One unique twist they could do with a 2d Zelda is do what they did with Zelda 2, where the world was open world Isemettial gameplay, but the dungeons and caves where 2d side scrollers. I would like to see Nintendo experiment more with that type of concept. Anyway great video, keep up the good work.

I really love the idea of Metroid sequence breaking in a 2d Zelda. My favorite part of a Zelda game is the item progression. Starting as a weakling with nothing, and slowly becoming OP with an item to handle every obstacle the game can throw at you, is the best. Getting items early is often done for speed running, and its always very satisfying. If they could package that and serve it to a regular player, it would be phenomenal. This only makes since though if there is, in fact, a preferred sequence of items. I did enjoy Link Between Worlds quite a bit, but the one thing I didn't like about it, was the shop. There was something about being able to see all the items right up front, and choose which item to buy, that took all the joy out of the item progression for me.

The beautiful thing about the original Zelda at the time was that you found secrets and talked to your friends about it. It's really hard to mimic that type of conversation now days. Using a guide is needed. Although the original Zelda did ship with a map so you could know where to go as well.

I like this idea. I didn’t see it shown in the video but look up the prototype for Breath of the Wild. They tested open world in a very cool looking 2D original Zelda style but modern looking. A full game like that, with the same out-there world as Koholint and Termina would be a dream come true personally. Before I got to the end Mario Wonder also popped into my head haha - good video!

I kind of want a 2D Zelda in the style of The Adventures of Link. Having a side scroller with clever puzzles and a really intricate combat system would be awesome. I think having dungeons like a side scrolling setting is really awesome and maybe have the overworld in the open world like original Zelda

The 2D Zelda games already felt somewhat niche compared to the 3D titles with broader appeal, and that gap has grown significantly further with the success of BOTW. I think the issue is that besides the earliest games, 2D Zelda has been tied to the handheld side of Nintendo, and Handheld games tend to not get the same respect as home console/pc games.
I think that's a shame, Link's Awakening alongside the Oracle games have some of the best overworld and dungeon design in the series. A Link Between Worlds was also an important stepping stone for what became BOTW. There's a lot of room for innovation for 2D Zelda games, and they would also just be great to have while we wait another 6+ years for the next 3D entry.

I'd love to see an "unchained" Zelda to be honest, multiple storylines and quests Link can choose to complete or not, sure you could run to the Ganon boss fight, or you could find Zelda, but you could also save hyrule from various other threats with no connection to Ganon.

"I don't want a zelda game that is just metroid with a fantasy twist", i respect that, but i always felt like they are already the same formula? you explore a world, to overcome challenges, to collect items that unlock more of the world, until the final challenge uses all of your items and the game ends triumphantly

Remove unnecessary fast traveling If your going to make a fully open world game because it removes the exploration aspect and the feeling of adventure. P.S. I really recommend playing Botw and Totk without unnecessary fast traveling because it improves the experience exponentially and it really feels like how the games were intended to be played.

I would like a new 2d Zelda, I'm not the biggest fan of them compared to the 3d adventures we've been given. But I agree with a lot of what was said in this video.
I really enjoyed this video and I hope you do more in the future, but I would also say stick with Minecraft as the main thing as it is popping off

I do plan on sticking with Minecraft as the main thing on the channel! Every once in a while, I would like to make videos about things that aren't minecraft. Seeing how this one is doing, I may choose to keep the Minecraft content free, but make non Minecraft videos locked behind members only as an extra perk. Im happy you enjoyed the video though! This one will remain public, no worries about it going away!

New sub here. Personally (unpopular opinion) I did NOT like ToTK. I loved breath of the wild but I couldn't force myself to play the new one, it was just so boring to me. I would love another 2d zelda, link to the past and minish cap are some of my favs and I actually like them more than the BoTW and ToTK. And I wouldn't mind if the next mainline zelda game was more linear and traditional. Also, Pokemon should only be 2d and sprites. 3D Pokemon doesn't hit right for me.

    • @TheGeekFactor_
      @TheGeekFactor_  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I have very mixed feelings about ToTK. I like the game. I think it is a well made game and I think it improves on some things in BotW... however... it also seriously flopped in some other ways particularly around dungeons and content within the depths. So much of ToTK's content in the depths was just Amiibo content from the previous game.. which was cool at first, but in retrospect comes off as very lazy. Like wow they made all the stuff that cost money free now instead of new content. I liked finding the retro link outfits... just wish there was more to the depths. I guess it wasn't very.. deep. >:)

I agree, but even BOTW had me bored by the end. The mechanics and art style of BOTW and TOTK are amazing but I find these massive open worlds with not much in them kinda boring. I really miss the days of 2D Zelda games, Link to The Past will always be my fav and not just because of nostalgia. I feel like it had the perfect mix of dungeon puzzles, gathering new tools, and world exploration.

I don't understand why you think a new Switch is needed and at the same time you showcase games on the current Switch that have the features, graphics and size you want to see in the next 2D Zelda. I don't think a new system is necessary. The Switch is not very powerful, that's true, but Nintendo and other developers have shown what a well optimized game can be on this system. The size of the game really is the least problematic aspect on the current system, especially in 2D where a huge draw distance is not necessary. It can all be managed with clever loading and maybe a bigger, more expansive cartridge if necessary.

You're wrong because 2D and 3D zelda are different teams. You're just wrong that 2D will be open. You when you purposefully spread misinfo. Also Eji isn't even the lead creator of Zelda. His word doesn't work for 2D anyways as he mostly did 3D stuff.

BotW and TotK are fantastic games but unfortunately they never resonated much with me. The LA remake however I adore, although for a big part due to nostalgia.
I would love to see an open world Zelda which is not the massive size of totk but focussed more on explorative, almost archeological progression. For example, you’re in a village and by helping villagers, you slowly figure out the secret of how to reach the hidden temple in the forest. I am a huge fan of Outer Wilds and its “player knowledge” based progress, and I’d love to see that in a Zelda game one day.
I am currently playing through Tunic and I, personally, get so much more from that than the two open world Zeldas.
I understand Nintendo wants to pursue this approach in the future and I’m sure they’ll be successful with it. I just hope that smaller Zelda releases which I enjoy more will not completely cease to exist. 🥲
