I'll never understand HOW a grown man like you (lates 40s) NEVER listened The Bee Gees, c'mon Man , I could understand it on a young man, or teenager, but How is this possible? I've seen a lot of Black men of your age or close to, saying that never hear that band, How old was you in the 80s? This song is from 1978/79, I was 9 years old, and I'm from a far away country called Argentina, and I know this group since that time. Really I start to thinking that some youtubers fake this when Titled, " First time reaction to some artist" I am a Musician I love since my childhood and teenage years The "Black Music"from USA, and with The Bee Gees you can hear the BIG influence in their music.

I understand what your saying brother. But in 1978/1979 i wasn't even born and plus i was born in Africa so we didn't listen to the music from USA or had the technology to. I do think people fake reaction i see all the time but i keep it honest and to me that makes the best reaction. you knew about this group at 9 years old and i was watching cartoon at 9 lol. when i was in my 20's i'd hear jokes about them so people in my world never listen or talked about Bee Gees so i had no idea who they were. I am so glad this my first song tho i love it... I can ask you if you know a artist from my country and people in USA or you wouldn't know because it's not in your radar you know but that artist is big in Africa and other country's.

Agree with you, only issue I have is that you wrote it like they're an American group, they are British musicians and started their band in Australia, I think Barry the oldest brother was 12 and the other 2 were 9 when they moved to Australia, not sure if that makes them a British or Australian band, but definitely wouldn't be American.@@CVTECK1

As you travel down this rabbit hole you'll discover that their voices are not always in the falsetto range. The primary falsetto "era" for them was in the late 70s to early 80s
A good example of Barry Gibb's regular singing voice would be the 1980 song "Guilty"...a duet he did with Barbra Streisand or "Words" from 1968. Their catalog is vast enough to keep you busy reacting for years.

The one in the middle is the oldest brother and the only one still alive. The other 2 were twins. They wrote somewhere around 1000 songs in multiple genres and for multiple artists, many of them huge hits. All the procedes from this song were donated to UNICEF, the UN children's fund. It has amounted to millions of dollars. They started singing harmonies together at 9 and 6 years old and writing songs before they were teens. They did not stop until the younger brother with the beard (Maurice pronounced Morris) died suddenly. They were amazingly talented singer/songwriters who took a lot of flack because they wrote songs during the disco era that became so popular that they overwhelmed a lot of other music.

I love seeing the younger generation listen to this music. I remember when this was on the radio, daily. The BeeGees are amazing. The lead singer, (although they claim there is no “lead” singer) is Barry Gibb. And the other 2 are fraternal twins, Robin on the left and Maurice (pronounced Morris) is on the right. They wrote over 1,100 songs and have also written and performed with countless other artists. Unfortunately, Robin and Maurice Gibb, have since passed. They also have a younger brother, Andy, that was too young to be in the group, but, had his own successful singing career, unfortunately, he has also passed at the young age of 30.

  • @cherylfisk7698

The Bee Gees had a younger brother (12 years younger then Barry, the oldest brother) Andy. His career started several years after them, but they were TOTALLY supportive of him. Often sang backup for him. He was supposed to join his brothers, but sadly 😢 died too young, from heart complications (due to drug abuse/addictions) before he could. But you can also check him out as well.

Bee Gees donated royalties of "Too much heaven" for UNICEF in January 9, 1979
It was in a special concert at United Nations in US
with ten artist who also donated royalties of a song:
british: Bee Gees, Andy Gibb, Rod Stewart, Olivia Newton John
north americans: Rira Coolidge, John Denver, Kris Kristoffersin, Donna Summer, Earth Wind & Fire
and only one no English speaker:
    the swedish quartet ABBA
That night ABBA premiered their song "Chiquitita"
    which was an extraordinary success,
especially in Latin American countries like mine, Argentina, in South America.
ABBA is a quartet basically made up of two musicians, composers and backup singers, and two female lead singers, who in the beginning were also couples.
ABBA has around 20 world hits between 1974/1982,
their first hit was "Waterloo" exactly 50 years ago
    and their biggest hit is "Dancing Queen";
and after almost 40 years they recorded again and released a new album "Voyage" in 2021
Just as the Bee Gees are masters of vocal harmonies,
so is ABBA, privileging its female voices
That's why it's my suggestion that you react to "Chiquitita"
contemporary song from "Too much heaven"
I hope to see you soon with ABBA
    My best regards from
    Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷
    South América

They were amazing. No gimmicks , no messing with the sound just pure talent. The documentary about them shows how they never got to be showy or thinking they were better than other's. Down to earth and fantastic. When I see these reactions to songs that I grew up listening to. I actually feel sorry for the generation of people who have not experienced good singing music. I feel sorry for the " not going out to meet with people who are strangers you talk to on a good night out. Then there is no way to contact them. Hoping that when you go to the club next weekend, that person will be there and still wants to talk to you. The BEE GEES come on in the slow set. You dance close to the person and enjoy the closeness and the scent of their after shave lotion and the beat of the music. As the night ends, you may make arrangements to meet up during the week to go for a drink together and get to know the person. This all goes well. You go on with your life. Then one day you watch a reaction video of the Bee Gees and call your husband in to look at the videos. 42 years after we met. 3 daughters and 8 grandchildren later. We can still dance close and feel the beat of the music.
Some many young people don't know how to communicate with actual people face to face in a social setting. Sadly they will have hundreds of " friends" on social media. But how many actual friends have they got.?. Technology is a blessing, but it is also a curse. There is so much to look at and listen to that the day is over before you know it. But you have no contact with people in the real world.
    With ❤from Ireland 🇮🇪

I was 18 when the Spirits Having Flown album came out. The first 3 tracks Tragedy, Too Much Heaven and Love You Inside and Out were #1 hits! I am 70. They are the best group ever, this my favorite song ever since it came out. The bands and singers today? They are not music. THIS is music!!! And I was so fortunate to have the music of the 60s 70's and 80s to grow up to. Junk, get rid of "music" today and start playing all our music, it i 10:02 s uplifting and beautiful!!!!

This high-pitched way of singing is called "Falsetto" and it's become their trademark in de early seventies. The Bee Gees had six platinum albums before they discovered they could sing like this as well. Not to mention a few number ones as well.
The Bee Gees are brothers. The one on the left is Robin, Barry is in the middle and Maurice is the one on the right side. The Bee Gees are one of the most successful bands that ever existed. They are songwriters first and singers second. So they wrote, sang and co-produced practically their whole catalog. Which contains around 1000 songs. Well over 200 million albums are sold worldwide. Barry is in the too 5 of most successful songwriters. They even outclassed the Beatles in terms of the amount of hits they had. Although the Beatles were really groundbreaking at that time and were a great influence on the Bee Gees.
So, you have heard and seen the power of Barry's Falsetto, but this is just one of the groups strengths. Take Robin on the left, he is an awesome vocalist in his own right. And by the way, he and Maurice are twins. Maurice has a great voice too, but he's the strongest harmonist and a musical mastermind.
After their monster succes in the seventies the Bee Gees got blacklisted from the radio for over a good decade. Admitting you liked the Bee Gees often let to be made fun of. It was not cool to like them anymore, when a radiostation played one of the songs it was always with nasty commend to come along with it. Something they definitely didn't deserve. In that time they amped up their writing game for other artists and were really successful scoring number one hits for Barbara Streisand, Dione Warwick, Kenny Rogers and Diana Ross. Barrty also wrote the theme song for the musical film Grease.
The Bee Gees were super talented and for me, and for evert other Bee Gees fan we are so glad the new generations are getting to know the Bee Gees and their awesome music catalog.
Thank you so much for your reaction. A dive into their vast catalog will reward for sure.

Cvthe Bee Gees is my era. I was a teenager when thus song came out snd many others. When they came on the radio no matter what I was doing I would STOP and put things down to drink them into my soul. They were incredible.
Their younger brother Andy was a beautiful singer as well ♥️

They were singing in all falsetto in this after they got good at it. This song was recorded for charity. They have lots of songs that weren't falsetto, then they could easily go from regular voices to falsetto. They have many hit songs like, Jive Talkin, Fanny Be Tender , Tragedy..

"Too Much Heaven" is a Bee Gees classic
probably one of his most famous songs worldwide
    worldwide success between 1978/1979
Although it is a very beautiful song
I have other songs by them that I like much more.
    generally the oldest, such as
    Massachusetts (1967)
    Lamplight (1969)
    My world (1972)
    Mr Natural (1974)
    and after them
For Whom the Bells Toll (1993)
They complete my Top5 of the Bee Gees
I suggest any of these for future reactions.
In addition to his greatest successes
Bee Gees donate royalties from "Too Much Heaven" to UNICEF
His Manager organized a historic Concert at the United Nations, exactly 45 years ago, on January 9, 1979.
Several artists were invited, who performed songs and donated royalties to UNICEF
    Americans also participated
    Rita Coolidge
    Kris Kristofferson
    Donna Summer
    John Denver
    Earth Wind & Fire
    also the British
Andy Gibb (younger brother of the Bee Gees)
    Olivia Newton-John (british/australian)
    Rod Stewart
    and the only non-English speakers:
    the Swedish quartet ABBA

The Bee Gees were the group to listen to back in the 70’s when I was young and I still listen to them all the time. I’ll put my headphones on and find them on my iPhone and listen while doing housework. They were also part of the Disco era which I also loved. They could sing with just their voice and no auto tune or any electronics. Their voices were pure and true. We’ll always have their music, because it will live on forever. Sadly there’s only one brother still alive and the new music is no more. Barry is still alive, he’s the one with the high voice. All of them had talent and their voices blended so well together. Truly remarkable! ❤️🎼😊

Great reaction! The Gibb Brothers are something special! If the BG’s sing it, they wrote it. They have well over 1000 songs in their catalog, which include many they wrote for others. You should check out “Fanny Be Tender With My Love “, “How Deep Is Your Love “, “Nights On Broadway”, “You Win Again”, just to name a few. They were all OUR SONGS 😂.

Barry Gibb's natural singing voice is baritone. They switched to falsetto in the late 70's at the start of the disco craze. Barry is the only surviving member of the Bee Gees. The band Chicago played the horns in this video. I'm a 64-year-old Navy vet who grew up listening to the Bee Gees. No one will ever equal their songwriting and singing abilities.

I remember when Saturday Night Fever came out so exciting John Travolta just rocked that role and the music so iconic. I saw that movie so many times and still watch it to this day! Maybe haven’t seen it as many times as my Elvis movies but it’s a classic for sure.
