See them sing with another brother Andy. THIS IS MY FAVORITE SONG OF ALL TIME other than some church music. I am so glad people are rediscovering them!!!! There is hardly any good music today!!!

I’m so glad you loved the song. The beauty of The Bee Gees was not only their angelic voices, their heavenly harmonies but the fact that they wrote all their own music. They loved to use all different kinds of instruments in their arrangements. Knew were they wanted violins, saxophones, trumpets, etc…and all without knowing how to write or read music. The were all self taught and played guitar, piano/keyboard etc..Maurice was the multi instrumentalist of the three. They even wrote top hits for top artists. They wrote over 1000+ songs of different genres and they were heavily influenced by R&B, Soul, funk. They were perfectionists and would not release something if it did not meet up to their standards. The Mills Brothers were a big inspiration for them, especially when they were coming up. They stated in many interviews that their dad was a big fan of their music and their love of harmony came from listening to those records, among others.

Only they couldn't think of anyone who would fit in, and while they were playing around with their own voices, trying to see how high notes they could touch, they found their falsetto.. They tried out singing the whole song in falsetto and it worked so perfectly fine they decided to keep it that way.. And they did.. Before that, they sang with their normal voices, until that certain day..
I was married one year (1977) before this was released in 1978. This song would have been in my wedding. Love, love, love the Bee Gees. I am a black female, 68 yrs. old, grew up with them. (A bit lengthy, but a must read.) The Bees Gees: (from left to right) Robin, Barry and Maurice (pronounced Morris) Robin (Dec 22, 1949 - May 20, 2012) passed away as a result of kidney failure. Maurice (Dec 22, 1949 - Jan. 12, 2003.) Passed as a result of a twisted intestine. He was in the hospital for 2 days. Barry said he had a heart attack, but the doctors still operated. Maurice and Robin were fraternal twins. Andy Gibb, the youngest brother, (not pictured) had his own successful career. He was 12 yrs. younger than Barry. He and Barry looked so much alike, that they could had been twins. Andy passed away in 1988, at the age of 30. He lived a lifestyle involving drugs, and he had heart problems. The brothers wrote all of his songs. Barry (middle) stated, "I am the last man standing." He was born September 1, 1946. He has 5 adult children and 7 grandkids. The family didn't have much money and the three boys taught themselves to sing close harmony by listening to these recordings and the Everly Brothers on the radio. By ages 5 and 8 the 3 boys were in harmony. (Robin and Maurice are twins). Black Soul and rhythm and blues were their inspiration

The BeeGees stands for the Brothers Gibb. Barry is the oldest. Robin and Maurice are twins. They started performing together professionally as young children.
They were influenced at a young age by the music their mom played in the house..one of those bands were the Mills Brothers....
They were all Knighted by Queen Elizabeth ...Maurice had already passed away, so Queen Elizabeth presented the medal and certification to the two remaining brothers, Barry and Robin....

That's the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra backing them up. They donated the royalties of this song to UNICEF children's charity, forever...close to $15 million so far. They first performed in 1958, when Barry was 9 and younger fraternal twins Maurice, right, and Robin, left, were 6.They wrote over 1,000 songs, 10 number 1s in 4 different decades, including about 100 songs written for some of the top voices OF those decades. Only Sir Paul McCartney has written more hits than Sir Barry Gibb and his little brothers. They sang as a trio until 2003, with Maurice's death. Robin died in 2012, but Barry is still kickin' and still married to his wife, Linda, since Sept. 1970...so he's definitely walked the love song talk! Try 'Nights On Broadway' for a sample of their lower voices, and the first song they used their high falsettos in...a real rockin' song too! Maurice was a great bass player, I bought the Rickenbacker 4001 in my photo just because he played one like it in the live video of 'Jive Talkin'!
The Bee Gees are 3 brothers who were born on the Isle of Man, then moved to Manchester before emigrating to Australia. They then returned to the UK before moving to the USA.
They wrote loads of great songs over many decades and genres. They also sounded just as good live as on the studio versions and had fabulous harmonies. The Bee Gees also wrote for other singers including Barbara Stresand etc.

There we're 4 brothers the youngest Andy passed away very young. The others later in life. Berry is the only one left.
To my ear the most enjoyable harmonies occur between Robin and Maurice while Barry does his trill (if that’s a word) over the top. Known this one since 1981.

The Mills Brothers were a big inspiration for them, especially when they were coming up. They stated in many interviews that their dad was a big fan of their music and their love of harmony came from listening to those records, among others.

Barry Gibb is the lead and Robin is on the left and Maurice is on the right. Maurice & Robin are twins but the both have passed away. A younger brother Andy Gibb also had a solo career but passed away in 1980. Drugs & alcohol were not good to him.

I think you would really love to watch the video of the Bee Gees singing “You Should Be Dancing’. That was a big hit for them and in the video they add their younger brother Andy Gibb, who was starting his solo career at the time. It has an awesome beat and harmonies. Definitely a dance song and it was in the movie Saturday Night Fever.

A perfect arrangement, perfect harmony, amazing range to their voices, especially Barry's voice who just started singing falsetto about halfway thru their career during the disco era. This song may have resulted in the conception of more children while parents were listening to it than any song ever, saving perhaps the instrumental Ravel's "Bolero."
.. Them singing falsetto was actually a day in their studio when singing a song realising they would need a woman's voice.. Only they couldn't think of anyone who would fit in, and while they were playing around with their own voices, trying to see how high notes they could touch, they found their falsetto.. They tried out singing the whole song in falsetto and it worked so perfectly fine they decided to keep it that way.. And they did.. Before that, they sang with their normal voices, until that certain day..
I was married one year (1977) before this was released in 1978. This song would have been in my wedding. Love, love, love the Bee Gees. I am a black female, 68 yrs. old, grew up with them. (A bit lengthy, but a must read.) The Bees Gees: (from left to right) Robin, Barry and Maurice (pronounced Morris) Robin (Dec 22, 1949 - May 20, 2012) passed away as a result of kidney failure. Maurice (Dec 22, 1949 - Jan. 12, 2003.) Passed as a result of a twisted intestine. He was in the hospital for 2 days. Barry said he had a heart attack, but the doctors still operated. Maurice and Robin were fraternal twins.
Andy Gibb, the youngest brother, (not pictured) had his own successful career. He was 12 yrs. younger than Barry. He and Barry looked so much alike, that they could had been twins. Andy passed away in 1988, at the age of 30. He lived a lifestyle involving drugs, and he had heart problems. The brothers wrote all of his songs. Barry (middle) stated, "I am the last man standing." He was born September 1, 1946. He has 5 adult children and 7 grandkids. On September 1, 2022, he and his wife Linda celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. (They were married on his 24th birthday.) On a sidenote, the first born is their sister, Lesley, who was 78, January 12, 2023. Lesley didn't have an interest to be in the limelight, but she can sing. They wrote all of their own songs, and songs for other singers, which they sang after the songs were released for the other singers. He's the amazing thing, they could not read musical notes. This meant they were also awesome musicians and just played by ear.

At one time 5 of their songs were in the top 10. Another time, four of the songs that were written by them for others were in the top 5. A song that Barry wrote for Andy was #2, but then it went to #1, and the Bee Gees song became #2. They have sold more than 220 million records worldwide (I'm quite sure more by now.)

Barry is the oldest. Brothers Robin and Maurice, twins, both died in the early 2000s. Maurice, pronounced Morris, of a post-surgical medical error, and Robin of cancer a few years later.
In this video, Maurice is on Barry's left, Robin on his right. Unusual lineup, for the boys, it's usually Mo, Robin, then Barry.
Baby brother Andy, died early 80s from a heart complication. Check him out, too; he sang solo, even though his big brothers helped. You can find a few concert clips of Andy running out onto the stage to join them.

They were brought up on the music of the Mills Brothers, here in England their father was a Big Bands Drummer and their mother sang with the big bands until they married. The family didn't have much money and the three boys taught themselves to sing close harmony by listening to these recordings and the Everly Brothers on the radio. By ages 5 and 8 the 3 boys were in harmony. (Robin and Maurice are twins). Black Soul and rhythm and blues were their inspiration
