Brother, this is Elvis at his best. At the time, Elvis was dealing with his marriage being done, Priscilla moved she and his daughter to LA, and he was experiencing some major health issues that resulted in his dependency on prescription medication. But, he delivered time and again. With humility.

To say Elvis was hated is really an understatement, he was burned in effigy. He has always gotten undue hatred, judgment, and criticism while his accomplishments are lost amidst the controversy or challenged by naysayers and his charitable givings are basically known only to his most ardent fans. His life was filled with tragedies and challenges most can even fathom, for all this and his amazing talent, I will always love Elvis.

Being from New Orleans where "King Creole" was shot on location, the term "Creole" basically is defined as a mixture of Spanish, French and African within individuals, culture and food/cuisine. It's as if someone who is considered Creole has a mixture of Spanish, French and African bloodlines. And like our jambalaya, gumbo, etouffee, bisques, etc are considered part of Creole cuisine. Being a major port city, the history of New Orleans and Louisiana in general was owned/settled by Spain and France before the US took over which mixed the cultures of those nations over time along with the African slaves which gives New Orleans that unique blend that you probably won't find anywhere else in the USA. As for this performance, this was one of Elvis' top 5 concerts of all time from start to finish!! All of the songs were top notch, and he nailed each and every one of them!!

I love your reaction and how you can relate to Elvis. He went through so much in his life, but never wavered from his true self. He was punched, thrown down a flight of stairs, threatened with death and criticized like no other entertainer before or after. The mainstream media hated him and racists hated him because he ignored segregation laws and the status quo. He studied karate most of his life and became an 8th degree black belt so he could defend himself. So many hills to climb and he fearlessly kept going. He gave so many people hope and the courage be be themselves. I feel like you have the same qualities, so hang in and keep climbing those hills. Elvis is still being criticized today for no reason other than ignorance and jealousy. We fans fight for him every day and wish all could know the man as we do.❤❤❤❤

He was the first singer who did hip, leg movements. Back in the 50s, he was the first to try to be canceled because of that. Then he opened the doors for black artists, including Little Richard & B.B. King. Because he pushed the boundaries for his personal expression and standing up for blacks. He grew up with them in the ghetto. That is why he was so hated by the establishment.

Elvis could relate to the song. His mother didn't 'die giving him life', but he did have a twin brother who died when he was born, and he always wondered why he was the one who survived. At the pinnacle of his early fame, his mother got ill and died, just before the army sent him to Germany, and he never really got over it. In this timeframe, his wife had left him, and they were going through a divorce, with her taking their daughter.

He was literally in a prison as soon as he became famous. And his character, talent and morals have been unfairly criticized by too many people for reasons beyond me. In my opinion, he was the absolute most charismatic and iconic musical talent and entertainer of the 20th century, even tho he only lived to be 42 years old. His memory deserves better than it gets from many including Priscilla. But so many of us who loved him back then still love him today and always will.

He did two concerts in Hawaii for this Satellite show. One was the rehearsal show taped on Jan. 12, and the main show on Jan. 14. The songs "What Now My Love" and "Fever" from the Jan. 12 rehearsal show are the best, in my opinion. But "American Trilogy" is the absolute best from the main Jan. 14 show. It´s not written by or for Elvis. But Elvis covered songs that fit in Elvis live situations. Elvis was not born in the desert, but in hot south, his mother did not die just after he was born, but his mother died early in 1958. Then Priscilla, his wife left him, took Lisa Marie with her, that was actually the next mountain, he had to climbed. For all the circumstances Elvis felt in prison. Elvis the GOAT, tell all the life stories like no other.

I’ve played Marty Robbins on the radio. He did a version, but no one ever belted it out like Elvis, what a powerful voice, and this man showed it in this song he is the king of rock ‘n’ roll the greatest of all time! This is from Aloha from Hawaii the first person to ever have a live concert satellite throughout the world at one time Elvis did it first and he did it the best.

Good reaction. Bit of trivia about this particular concert in 1973. This concert was seen live by 1.5 billion people in 36 countries. There were only 4 billion people on the planet in 1973 so a huge portion of the planet was actually watching this that day. Hard to wrap ours heads around today, but he's performing live here in front of a billion and a half people. But it shows what an Icon of his generation Elvis had become at this point. When Eddie Murphy said that nobody in the entertainment business had as much presence as Elvis, there was a reason.

The songs from this Satellite Concert listened to by 1.5 million people live. It was a remarkable achievement. 😢 He bleeds what he sings. A true soul stealer. That’s the greatest gift he gave us. To inspire peace 46 yrs after his death is amazing. He truly is loved by millions. They come from all over the world to visit his home, his grave and during Elvis week, his life. Haters will die out. Elvis never will. Thanks so much. I watch you all the time but am sometimes too ill to comment. But I’m there. 😊😊😢❤❤

To piggyback off of what you said or how to question the question, it comes down to: Hating someone just for who they are! Yes EP suffered without cause; which is why I've always stood and still stand amazed of how he was able to sustain himself and function through it all, and in how we had him as long as we did, even though very short lived~ it was jammed packed!
I'm glad you schooled us on the true meaning of Creole! 😉 👍😊❤
I always dig how you respect and are so honest with your reactions with EP!
Btw; I'm with you on that mountain issue. I find that God often allows mountains in our lives to teach us to trust Him more, to walk by faith, and help us learn how to cry out to God for help!
The faith, is in the not giving up! One step at a time. I appreciate you sharing this. You are not alone.

Elvis favored songs that were related to what was going on in his life. He just went through a divorce and was separated from his little girl and he could put his soul into the words of the song and make it his like no other!!!

Look at “Elvis and the Black Community “ parts 1 & 2. He had hate when he started out from Tom middle class white people who decided he was vulgar. Love watching your incredulity at Elvis’s range and powerful voice. He loved ballads, blues, rock and roll, country, with his favourite genre being Gospel. You have so many exciting things to see and learn. King Creole was set in New Orleans in the 1950s. Elvis loved his part in this film as it was serious and gave him a chance to really act. Sadly it didn’t do well at the box office because his fans wanted more songs from him in a less serious environment, hence all the more frivolous films later on in his film career. Enjoy King Creole, and look at Jailhouse rock too. All so cool and classy. Thanks for your great reaction , looking forward to seeing so much more that will blow your mind. Elvis brought up by poor parents in a ghetto and was bullied at school. He could relate to people from all backgrounds. 👌💕🕺

Elvis was not really hated , He was certainly loved more than hated and you are responding to the lyrics of this particular song and there is no doubt that he shows all the emotion in a song that there is to show but do not forget how great his voice was too!!

Can’t wait to hear how you feel about the movie!! Aloha from Hawaii concert’s favorites included “American Trilogy” and “My Way” that blow people away, and “Fever” is my personal favorite. He always giggles when the women scream, like it surprises him they do, even though he plays it up for them. Super fun and sexy.

I was at Aloha Concert n sat 3rd row center n couldn't take my eyes off of him. Yes "Fever" was a favorite n being 21 I went crazy. I think I know every word to all the songs he sang. I never met Elvis but became friends with Charlie Hodge his confidant and best friend for years after Elvis died n he told me many great stories about Elvis. I lost my friend Charlie in 2006 of lung cancer but he is back with Elvis singing Harmony

BRO, Whatever issues you had growing up, it appears you've overcome and risen above. You shine on video, bringing a wholesome perspective to your art.
A request, not from "Aloha", but in his closing years. From 1976 "It's Now Or Never", a song he'd recorded years before.. His backing tenor opens the song with "O Sole Mio" from the Italian version, where the melody of "It's Now Or Never" is taken from. Live on stage, ELVIS is having fun Also, another song that demonstrates his dynamic vocal range and ability, is "Hurt", also live.
THANK YOU for your stellar reaction today!

Elvis and his wife Precilla had just separated and were going through divorce proceedings right around the time of this concert (their divorce was finalized in October of this year). She took their baby girl with her, he still had visitation rights, but I'm sure he could totally relate to this song, making it even more of a powerful song for him to perform. Great reaction video, thank you!

Absolutely. And I want to add: The Elvis intervju August 6, 1956 - Lakeland, Florida. Where he at 21 years old stands up to the critics and defends not only his music but also defends his fans. And probably his longest and best intervju on August 17, 1962 - Hollywood, California, where you really get to know the person he was. So much respect and admiration for this man. The GOAT.
