    I just got the 3350. It will be here tomorrow. It was a toss up between the Miller Infinity or the Lincoln Viking. I like the Analog over the Digital. Plus I didn't want a clock in my weld hood an all that. Plus that little bit better 1/1/1/1 to Miller's 1/1/1/2 To me back to the Viking

      its way more comfortable compared to the digital infinity and the clarity is amazing but the only fault i have is that the arc sensor doesnt work like its advertised,it was fully darkened under a fluorescent light...which is not good,especially when i was taking an aerospace grade test...

    • @BakersGas

    what's the point of a hood review without a arc shot?

    • @STOkitten
      @STOkitten 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      None rlly

  • @rixogtr
    @rixogtr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've had my old version of 3350 for over 5 years now and the shading cartridge is loosing it's capabilities. As I weld at darkest shade it changes sometimes all the way to like 9 or even the lowest setting while welding at 300A+ on AC, very uncomfortable.
    Anyways, nice to see they've done some upgrades, however this review doesn't mention the weird latching/locking mechanism that makes the old helmet fall while I'm marking out or just leaning over the part. Which is what started happening after maybe a month of use on three separate helmets. Some say why don't I just tighten the screws but that doesn't solve the problem, just creates another one. The mechanism looks like it's different and it makes a click sound so I could use some more information on that.
    Also great to see a new style of the pad at the back of the head. Although while the foam might make it more comfortable, I'm curious how long would the pad itself last. The original hard foam pad on my old 3350 is disintegrating pretty badly, but still provides somewhat comfortable grip to the helmet.
    I like the changes on the new one, looks like a promising replacement for the old 3350. Except the matte black finish makes it look so cheap, this is a major step back in my opinion.

      @@BakersGas I’m from Australia haha, but thank you I appreciate it!
      Anyways, while I got you here I want to scratch onto other topic, so I’ve watched your video about the Optrel Crystal 2.0 and decided to buy it. You showed it on camera, I liked it for a long time but never actually needed it. Now that my old helmet is having issues I decided to invest. However, as I opened the box there was the helmet and use guide and that cheap plastic cover for the helmet but that nice bag you’ve had on your video was not there! That got me really disappointed as I was looking forward to have that bad as well😂
      Seems that they sell it separately now as well as the advanced head band 😪
      Did you get it for free or was it a part off your order with the supplier?

  • @lucasstark2906
    @lucasstark2906 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I know you said it's the same 4c technology but is the color when you look through the lens the same?

    • @BakersGas
      @BakersGas  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes the view through the lens is the same clarity. Only upgrade to the lens is the Sunlight Differentiation which can identify the differences of a welding arc and sunlight without the need to switch modes.

    You like this sunlight feature more over Millers X mode feature? Which one is better.. I use to have a Lincoln 3350 with 4c technology but switch over to the miller digital infinity with their clear light technology

    • @BakersGas
      @BakersGas  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      David - what is nice on this hood is that it is built in and you do not have to change modes. As far as performance they are similar. Another difference to note is the Lincoln 3350 has the traditional knob interface and the Miller Elite/Infinity have a digital interface.

    • @tylerchilders7474

      David Santa Cruz which one do you prefer? What color is the arc through the ClearLight?

    • @BakersGas
      @BakersGas  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tylerchilders7474 the ClearLight technology makes the view more true to colors. It is a lot less green in tint! Totally worth upgrading if your doing a lot of welding!

  • @tommyt2854
    @tommyt2854 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Did you mention of it was lighter in weight?
    Also, when you demo'd the Optrel Crysral, I got the impression you were blown away by the clarity/ color differentiation. But that's a $600 hood. This is a $250 hood. Is there a point of diminishing returns? (Kinda like comparing rifle optics: from $80 to $400'ish, there's a tremendous difference. But from $500 to $1500, maybe not so much).

    • @BakersGas
      @BakersGas  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      They both weigh exactly 1.4 pounds! Just went and weighed them myself to be sure. We are going to be 100% honest with you and tell you the Crystal is definitely the clearest, lightest, brightest helmet! Yes you can tell the difference when welding with the $429 helmet compared to the $250 range. Is it tremendous no. The Viking is clear and the quality/price point simply can not be beat. In our opinion we think that if you are welding all day you should invest in a quality helmet. The Crystal is a premium product and if you are TIG welding quite a bit and its not out of budget it is a good investment. However the Viking 3350 is not super far behind and if you select this helmet you will not be disappointed. The new Lincoln is a great hood with all of the features the premium hoods have. Before this upgrade the 3350 series was lacking the grind button, comfortable headgear and did not have the sunlight differentiation feature.

    I own 2 of the Lincoln Electric 3350 helmets with the 4C lens. BOTH are BROKEN. They stopped working within a month of ordering each one. Don’t get me wrong, I love these helmets, but both helmets had the little solar panel fry or break because they went from purple to clear on half the strip and now they don’t work at all.
    Luckily these helmets come with 3 year warranties and Lincoln is going to send me 2 replacements but something tells me I’m going to run into the same problem. The only thing I can think of that’s causing the issue is the fact that I sweat heavily and maybe it’s getting inside the ADF sensor. I don’t know, but for the $280 I paid for each helmet, you’d think Lincoln Electric would see this problem more often since most people tend to sweat when they weld.
