Hi so i have this machine and am unable to use the foot pedal due to physical issues, is there a way to figure this out use the finger trigger? Like settings for the 4t? Idk if you will see this but i would appreciate some advice on how to do this.
I started learning welding 30 years ago at Tech College, but after changing jobs and not having access to machines I had forgotten a lot of what I was taught. Now as a 50 year old with a bit of spare time and some disposable cash for tool toys, I've started to relearn. These videos are so helpful. Thank you so very much for the wealth of information you are sharing
Man as a graduate from a GTAW focused welding program , this is one of the best beginner exercise videos I have seen on aluminum. Keep up the awesome instruction. Your a great teach man.
Excellent, thanks for this and all the rest. This is exactly what a beginner needs. No secret settings or magical gimmick tooling. Just set up as instructed and drill, drill, drill. There's no way around it, but it can be daunting if you don't know where to start. This is the perfect starter if you've got a machine and are ready to learn.
Justin, first of all, I want to say thank you, I have been mig, and arc welding all my life, you have helped me learn to tig, kinda, I keep getting stuck, just like you said, on that Inside corner, I can never seem to heat the joint..but the metal around it
Awesome video man thanks . I’m a trained and skilled certified welder in Canada lol I learned to tug weld in school just good enough to pass my tests . 99% of my career was stick ,mig ,metal core . So as a tug welder I’m basically a newbie, your videos are a real help for young and old alike who want to weld tug . Thank you
As an educated Tenure Welder? A former TIG- Marine Boat, Aviation, and so on and so forth?, with a advanced skilled level in Technical Training? You are one of the best at explaining Welding Drills to a 'T'!!! groove on!! Thanks for the great vids.
Justin, I love these videos! You really teach the nuts and bolts. I've DIY welded stick and MIG for many years (although not consistently proficient), but only recently bought a PrimeWeld 225X to start TIG welding, and it was a great buy. With your videos, I'm now learning TIG techniques. I'd love to come out and take your classes in-person, but can't right now. This is the next best thing. Keep up the great work.
I’ve watched a plethora of welding videos online to try to learn TIG properly. This is easily one of the best and easiest to understand videos out there. The torch shots, the explanations.....easy to understand. I can’t wait to put this into practice. These are the exercises I want to learn before signing up for a class, because I’m sure I’m like a lot of people, and I don’t want to come into a class without understanding even the basics. Keep these up!
Beginning welder here. Father has an all aluminum pier that was wrecked by a drunk boater and we are looking to repair it. Love the videos and super helpful. My father is retired Millwright and has some welding experience but these videos are super helpful. Thank you for posting these! I will definitely be watching as much as possible.
I looked at many reviews and I looked at your views on several TIG and made welding machines and I end up buying this one here with the prime welder cooler and the number 20 CK worldwide liquid cool torch so your your review on this you know sold me on this machine especially at the price you can't be that and in my area welding right now which is we don't have a huge amount of welding coming through we got some but not where we need to be you know a professional machine so it'll do what we need to do at this point in time in the company small company right now we're trying to build as it grows will grow the machines to grow with it but so far it's been a great welder but I can't say that I've had it a long time and I can't say that I've done you know years worth of welding with it yet so I can't give a real good deal on it other than I like it at this point appreciate it brother
I've been doing aluminium welding for a week now, doesnt even seem to ray burn compared to steel I've noticed, im guessing its still not great for your skin though right?
I've got a project I want to do out of aluminum, and have never TIG welded aluminum before, but have welded SS, CM and Ti. I made some coupons based on the joints I specifically needed, 1-1/4" .125 wall square onto .125x2 flat. I jumped in and made a mess, very discouraged. I watched your video on the first drill, then went down into the shop and practiced it. Watched the next drill and did the same. At the end of the video, I repeated my initial test of a square tube onto the flat and nailed it. I am so happy that you share your knowledge, it inspired me this evening, thank you!!!
One of the best aluminum videos out there, thanks Justin! Recommendation for a future video topic: You're doing an aluminum weld on a project and you boff it up. It would be really good to understand which types of aluminum welding mistakes are "recoverable" (and how) vs. which type of mistakes send the part to the scrap bin. Keep up the great work!
First time I see your videos. I have to say, even if I am not fluent in english, you are very very clear explaining and so much prepared. Loved the exercises, everything! 🙏🏼✌️. Thank you!
Nice job Justin. I bought the PW 225 about a year ago, based on your and 6061s endorsement. The previous pedal was a bit goofy. I modified it by making a heel stop and long sole plate to resemble a miller type foot control. Your base settings are spot on as well as a # 5 cup. I did find a glass cup kit that offers a #4 thru #12 gas lens. I'm 65 years old with a pair of eyes to match and seeing thru the lens is a bit helpful. Keeping your hood glass clean and trying to eliminating background glare helps. Thanks Dave
Justin, You are the most Amazing Educational Instructor !!! I think you could teach Any subject! Practical and Motivating. I've watched this video multiple times while sitting at my weld bench employing the techniques you show. Thank You! And, I've purchased several kits from WMOL to continue my practice on Aluminum. Really appreciate the time, effort, and knowledge you share. -V
Hey man! Thank you for your videos! You are the only one I've actually been able to understand and I learned what was doing wrong. Have been getting better and better!
No more shall I be cutting to size, Brushing Clean my dirty Aluminum scraps... What normally would take me an hour to prep, I got to dabbing my 4043 Filler rods in less than 15 mins. I just frig'n love these Coupons!
I bought that welder because you had given it a good review. Came with the improved pedal, and had a push button switch for the torch to use 4 step. The pedal is good, as good as the pedal on the Lincoln I use at work. Still haven't welded aluminum with it, gotta get 240 out to the garage ( about 120 amps, long welds trip my breaker) but I'm perfectly happy with that welder.
Just bought a WeldPro tig. packaged same as the Primeweld. Menu driven settings. Used your settings on this machine and the results are amazing. (When I remember to turn on the gas.) Struggeled with a big old lump rectifier for years and couldn't get any good aluminum welds. Still not skilled, but getting great results for a beginner.
Just ran these drills for my first time ever welding Aluminum, and only a handful of times TIG welding in general, it was challenging and very fun, I did better than I expected! thanks for the awesome video and instructions.
This is the most helpful video I have come across. I just picked up an older transformer based ESAB Heliarc 352 welder for $100, so I have been watching video after video on tig welding. Thank you for making these amazing videos
Thanks for the video, perfect timing for me as I received my prime weld 225 last week. Over the years I've welded almost all metals in many processes except Tig aluminum. After a few hrs I was able to achieve fair results but some of these tips will definitely help, especially the control of the edge weld. Very happy with the machine so far, ( I used your evaluation to make my decision). Looking forward to more videos.
great video! I've been practicing on 1/8" AL coupons and have gotten reasonable results on all but fillets welds. I've struggled with getting the weld pool started, but your explanation is so clear. I'm going to try your technique today. Thank you!
I feel bad, I didn't realize I could order the welder through your link to give you a kickback. I saw your previous to this video about the prime weld and ordered it about 2 weeks ago. Still waiting on it to come in the mail but if I had seen this video as well I would have used your link. I really appreciate all your amazing content on aluminum welding
Since I own the exact same welder, PrimeWeld 225X, and also trying to weld 1/16" aluminum with piss-poor results, this video was the best video I could have ever needed to see. From the actual welder setup to the welding, I have so many things to try now. I absolutely appreciate you taking the time to explain everything. I was so wondering about the balance control and if it was doing the positive weld or cleaning with the percentages. Thanks so very much! I wished I lived closer. I would certainly take your course!
I have no desire to get into aluminum, as there are enough certified welders in the surrounding areas who do, and as a "farm welder", that's a liability I just don't want. Getting my feet wet with TIG, I'm finding all of these drills apply just as well to ferrous metals, as they do, aluminum. So grateful you put out these videos, Justin, they really help greatly reduce the level of frustration in learning a new process!
I never thought of a fillet weld as difficult. I always thought it was one of the easiest welds. It's good to hear you say that its hard since i do struggle with it sometimes. Like you said, my arc tries to jump to the side and not go to the root. I always end up with a super wide bead in the fillet because of the arc is wanting to hit the sides and not the root. I will have to try it with more power and see what happens. Thanks for the great videos!
I'm learning aerospace welding right now and I'm going to pass this drill and your channel on to the others in my class, brilliant CT! Great drills Justin! AD Aussie AF
the arc shots were the best, I haven't seen something like that before, I was really impressed, I am not a welder tho, just someone that youtube recommended a good video.
I love the way you explain the Tig welding videos but one important thing that you have to teach your students it's how to weld whit out food pedal cause when you work in the factories they used some kind of switch to make more production parts..
You are a master fabricator and your willingness to share and teach others is golden, I just wish that welder was available to purchase. Ready to drop the hammer but it's unavailable.
This has been a big help. Thanks. I bought a miller 220 multi last year and just started to use it to tig alum. It was going Horrible i mean i just could not get it going. Turns out i was using the wrong gas. I have two tanks one with argon, and one argon/carbon d. i have been using the argon all along for just mig. all this time. No wonder why my tig alum was just not working.
Great video thank you. Excellent channel also. I just picked up my first tig and I’ve picked up so many bits of information from you. Thank you so much 👍
I tried this out at school today, my instructor said I picked it up pretty quick and so I made a star wars spaceship with 2 T plates 😂 it’s pretty fun and easy it just takes some used to 👌
One thing I do not see a lot of videos about and how to correct it is arc wonder on aluminum. I run into this a lot where no matter how i manipulate the torch the arc will want to favor 1 piece of material over the other like when welding a butt joint or when welding 2 different thickness pieces together.
Not all of us can afford to use up our consumables practicing. We purchase our materials, not a company we are employed by. That said Every Time I weld regardless of the method and material is a lesson as well as practicing while getting the job done. No one regardless of how long they have been at it is as good as they could be. Beginners have to spend some money on practicing or it will cost them big time if they don't. Welding aluminum without a TIG is well worth learning. There are a variety of ways to weld aluminum. It is an exercise worth spending a little money on and quite fun. Brazing aluminum, arc welding aluminum, flux heat, casting aluminum bond aluminum are all worth learning how to do for a variety of reasons.
Subbed! I just bought me a Tig welder and watched this video before trying it. After trying on some scrap pieces I started to make progress using your techniques. I just bought me the aluminum starter kit from yalls site can't wait to get it in!
Love it!!! Especially the attitude of “just weld it” and have fun!! I’ve been having a ton of fun practicing on my own, but videos like this definitely keep me pumped. I know it’s beating a dead horse...but...cleaning aluminum...I’m always worried that I’m cleaning it incorrectly. You used coupons here...so am I...straight from the package. I get inconsistent welding experiences all the time. I’m worried it’s my “cleaning procedure”
I worked in aluminum Mills one 1 made 180 types of alloys, it's heat treated quenched in ovens, stretcher that elongated aluminum molecules make tank armour, aircraft wing frames, animal fat based coolant and hydraulic fluid everywhere highly flammable some of it, fire gets going and if you're in the basement when the cardox fire protection goes off it takes all the oxygen out of the air and you're history.
Watching your videos especially this one had made me decide to get a tig welder that allows me to do aluminum. Time to save a bit more money. With your videos i have seen all the other applications that aluminum tig can be insanely useful. Thank you for your knowledge and patience with doing these videos for us. I will be buying that exact welder your using in this video based on your review. Thank you again.
Can't wait to try this at school tomorrow now. We just started aluminum inside corners and they're kicking my butt...apparently I just haven't been running hot enough. We'll see tomorrow.
Don’t put the tungsten in the puddle. I know this I just do it to make sure your paying attention. I’ve recently starting watching your videos and they are really great you do an excellent job getting the point of the material across.
"Melt the whole part down and completely destroy it... Who cares?", "Burn some friggin metal and have fun"... That just sounds exactly like the way I built my first welding cart :)
Thanks for the enlightening comments about standard and gas lenses. I fell for buying those even though I weld nothing that calls for them. What a maroon!

Wow! I'm so excited. I'll be coming to Vegas for work in December and I really wanna take the class. This video was AWESOME I can't wait.
Another brilliant video the way you explain things are very good. If I lived in America I would come and take a class with TFS
Tried and true customer of that same Primeweld here and I can say its pretty damn good for the price
Great lesson Justin. Thanks for all your hard work!
just brought a rtec tig ,never used a tig before ,a bit anxious but thanks for your vids ,very helpful .
Can't wait to try this at school tomorrow now. We just started aluminum inside corners and they're kicking my butt...apparently I just haven't been running hot enough. We'll see tomorrow.
Got a tig welder 3 days ago, started with Aluminum and it didn't take long before I realised needed a pedal.
A very enjoyable way to learn that helps keep my enthusiasm levels high as I learn in isolation.
Don’t put the tungsten in the puddle. I know this I just do it to make sure your paying attention.
I’ve recently starting watching your videos and they are really great you do an excellent job getting the point of the material across.
Fantastic inside look into quotes from a fab shop! Thanks man this got you a sub
Thank for that class very motivated
"Melt the whole part down and completely destroy it... Who cares?", "Burn some friggin metal and have fun"... That just sounds exactly like the way I built my first welding cart :)
I love these videos. Just wish I could afford to fly out there and take a class.
It’s all in the vid, go with the flow 😊
"really not that complicated" as he laughs after that edge weld... lmao 👍👍
Keep after it, it gets better.
I would love to go to one of these classes,
Such an informative tutor.

very nice explanation of how to get this done.
Such a shame the UK don't have all these classes going on like you guys.
These videos really help a whole lot!
Awesome. Succinct, accurate, engaging, valuable. Thank you x
Absolutely great video! One of the best welding videos ever! Thank you and great job!
I just started tig this week, you've been a great resource, thanks for the videos
Thanks for the enlightening comments about standard and gas lenses.
I fell for buying those even though I weld nothing that calls for them.
What a maroon!
