Finally! Someone on TH-cam is talking about The Dark Nest Crisis! Star Wars Reading Club never really talks about it, nor Metanerdz Lore, Star Wars Theory, or Manda-LORE, or even Eck most of the time, but Corey broke that drought right here! Thank You!
I always saw the Dark Nest trilogy as something that tested true EU fans. Brainwashed Jedi is always hard to read - then Fate of the Jedi came along! But I did enjoy the idea of Luke, when he was on the asteroid and he was an unmoveable object “anchored to the universe”.
@@conglomo1326 Absolutely, IMHO these are the best of the EU. Personally I still regard the EU as the real star wars, though I still watch the best of the new Star Wars, the Mandalorian is particular is fantastic
Can you do a video breaking down different popular fan interpretations of Star Wars technology, specifically as it pertains to starships? I'd like to see at least a summary of, for example: The FractalSponge approach, where all energy required for a ship to do anything and everything comes from the reactor, compared to people who believe sources that talk about blasters and turbolasers and such needing some sort of matter as ammo. Edit: Clarification.
Aside: Each time I read your channel's title I am reminded of some novels describing a character's desk filled with stacks of datapads, like they can travel a galaxy and do space magics, but their Ipads only hold one book lol. Like, damn it, I just saw Corey's Datapad, how did it get buried in this pile of datapads?!
I'm not that much into this bug species, they haven't changed at all since Rakata empire which is silly to me. But the parts that are absolutely amazing to me is R2 revealing the recordings from fu*king revenge of the sith to Luke and the team. 3PO can even finally find out who he was and what he was doing before his memory whipout. Amazing!
I like the Dark Nest books but this was the point in Legends where I feel the series veered off in a less great direction. They change a few things about how the NJO played out and in general I think things kept happening too fast in the Post-Vong War Legacy era.
@@DIEGhostfish The Vong War is my favorite SW era by a huge margin. Lol But if it had been up to me, there would have been no more major conflicts set for about 10-15 years at least. I would have much preferred giving the chance to develop the newer generation more and letting the OG heroes retire from any front line action. Especially Han, given that he wasn't a Jedi.
I like to believe that the Swarm War did happen (thank Supernatural Encounters for that), but I must admit, the events of the Dark Nest trilogy *surely and mostly* did not happen (poor Jaina Solo).
Jaina was trying to deal with figuring out what being "Sword of the Jedi" meant. Her brothers were gone, and she had a bit of a quarter-life crisis, trying to find purpose again by defending the Kiliks against the Chiss. It wasn't her finest moment, but that's what happens when your characters are realistic as opposed to Mary Sues.
@@davidb9639 True, but I've seen better written character flaw arcs for female characters like her then and now. What even was Troy Denning smoking at that time?!
@@michaelandreipalon359 considering this book takes place at the time Disney says TLJ is taking place, it should be appreciated for the fact that Luke is absolutely dominating it in every scene he's in. This is where he become the Grand Master, and every fan of Luke should give these books a go.

Agreed, I always thought dark nest was one of the best story arcs in legends

I love the running gag on this channel that Luke Skywalker is some random nobody Corey doesn't know.
Loved the fleet breakdown
Chiss: Are we to believe that you are just that stupid?
Alliance Members: Yeah, that's kind of our thing.

Oh my god releasing one of those animated videos next week seems insane to me

Honestly wasn't a huge fan of the Vong war anyway. But it got worse after.

Agreed - this was the turning point for the EU.
Yeah, I always follow up The Unifying Force with Supernatural Encounters and the Legacy comics for this very reason instead of this... muck.
Okay now I can see them taking over the galaxy in EAW and understand why you are making them a new faction in TR.
As a 40k fan . Don't underestimate the bugs..
