    Such a great topic dude. Re-reading LotF right now and this is very, very relevant!
    Corellia is also such a Star Wars planet. There's the classic thing where an entire species or race is based off of the one character that appears in the OT. Corellians are spunky like Han, Hutts are gangsters, Twileks are temptresses or slaves, Wookiees are incredibly loyal, etc.

      That's kinda what they did in the end. While Coruscant and Alaskan were brutalizing each other, the Prince-Admiral of the Corellian Hegemony snuck attacked both powers. This ending the conflicts around 3,017 BBY, I do believe, with the guy essentially holding the Senate at sword-point. As for why they didn't do it in every conflict, its primarily the fact that Corellia was not being dragged into them and did not care. It wasn't until Jonash e Solo finally came to power and had enough of the two planets' nonsense to finally do something about it.

    • @edwinrosario3849
      @edwinrosario3849 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure if this has been answered somewhere else or not but the Galactic Alliance was the successor state of the New Republic. Rather than being a true government, it was more of a united nations of governments within the star wars universe during that time. It sought to maintain the peace by being a place where all the factions could have discourse and work out issues but it still had the trappings of a government due to being on Coruscant, collecting taxes from alliance member states, and aiding in reconstruction efforts across the galaxy in the aftermath of the Vong War.
      The Second Galactic Civil War is featured in the Legacy of the Force book series, it details how Corellia and several other worlds are manipulated/forced into fighting against the Galactic Alliance. This is started primarily because of the idea of Sector Defense limitations, though its quickly found out that Corellia is lying through its teeth about not being able to defend itself. It also details the fall of Jacen Solo to the Dark Side thanks to the Sith Lady Lumiya.

    The Sector Defense Force limits, aka the Senate at its dumbest since backing Palpatine's rise to Emperor. Seriously those limits would cause dissent under any circumstances. Doing so if the aftermath of the Vong War, aka the war where the central government's forces ceded territory to the most brutal force the galaxy had seen in thousands of years if not in its history so often that it was almost standard procedure, is utter madness.

    • @edwinrosario3849
      @edwinrosario3849 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not entirely, the Sector Defense Force limitations was to ensure that situations like Corellia would not occur. Because of how relatively new and weak the Galactic Alliance was made to appear as during the Swarm War, various planets would have, eventually, attempted to take advantage of this. Hoarding resources to 'defend' themselves and make all sorts of excuses to not follow Alliance law while benefitting from Alliance membership. This is clearly seen when Corellia built up a secret defense fleet with their own dreadnoughts while claiming to be taken advantage of, even though, their fleet had been untouched by the Vong and Swarm Wars alike.
      After all, the build up of military forces will become too tempting to have them sit around. Someone is going to empire build, its just not surprising that Corellia, the essential rebellious child of the galaxy, was the one going to do it. The Galactic Alliance knew which direction the wind was going and made this limit, also what is being forgotten in the video is that Lumiya had a prominent role for getting the Bothans and people of Commenor involved with the war in the first place. As for the Hapans, they didn't really care all that much for defense limitations, they wanted a complete reversal of their situation so they can go back into isolation.
      It would have been more utter madness to continue to let defense forces continue to build up and make the situation worse than it already was.

    • @roguerifter9724
      @roguerifter9724 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why would and why should systems and sectors trust the Galactic Alliance to defend them enough to disband their local forces after the Vong War where retreat in the face of the enemy was almost standard procedure for much of the conflict?

    • @edwinrosario3849
      @edwinrosario3849 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@roguerifter9724 Who said anything about disbanding their local forces, that is what the Empire did in order to bolster their own forces during the Imperial Period. Also that retreat in the face of the enemy was due to lack of cohension within the New Republic's own military command and being undercut by the failure of the Chief of Staff at the time, Borsk Fey'lya, to take the situation seriously. The New Republic had every chance to stop the Vong prior to them establishing themselves but since an invasion from a force outside the galaxy was deemed impossible, it was ignored until the Vong were hammering at the New Republic's door.
      Take into consideration that once the Galactic Alliance was formed and actively began to take the threat seriously, the Vong were on the backfoot, then lost the war. Even before that, the New Republic had successes on Borleias thanks to the ingenuity of Wedge Antilles and at Hapes which gave them the space needed to fight back.
      Working together did that while looking out for each other gave the Vong the advantage needed to take so much of the galaxy as they did. Which brings us to this point, the Alliance was putting limits on Sector Forces to keep planets from empire building, there was no disbandment involved. By having those limits in place also enabled for credits, supplies, and material to go to worlds who were in desperate need of them because of the Vong War, enabling the build up of their own sector forces. This rather than places with already large PDFs to leech off other worlds as the Core Worlds had done with the Outer Rim for centuries in order to make themselves feel safer and leave nothing for anyone else.

    • @roguerifter9724
      @roguerifter9724 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Galactic Alliance is basically a renamed New Republic. Also what we now of the defense force limit laws mwan they would hurt smaller planets and less industrialized sectors more then the big one militarly. The ban on exporting military hardware to other worlds means that worlds and regions that can't manufacture weapons and combat ships won't be able to obtain them legally. And that was mentioned in the first book.
      The whole reason Jacen and Ben were on Adumar was to prevent the planet from exporting weapons to other member worlds after all. And between the devastation of the Vong War, and the way the New Republic abandoned so many systems during the war there wasn't a worse possible time to start limiting region's ability to defend themselves.

    • @edwinrosario3849
      @edwinrosario3849 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@roguerifter9724 Yes, the ban kept worlds from exporting to other worlds illegally for their own profit which would go on to further fuel their own defenses later on. Which would have been more painful in the long run, we literally saw in those novels how the more industrial and powerful PDFs were utilized for war very quickly. Both Bothawui and Commenor struck at the Corellian Exclusionary Zone without much issue after Lumiya's prompting was done. Without Sector Defense limitations, those PDF fleets would have been far larger and far harder to take down. It placed an upper limit on how much they could use for their own forces. Take into consideration that PDFs are supposed to be supported by the galactic government's navy to bolster them. This happened in the Clone Wars also and worked well to that effect.
      Having military hardware sold to individual systems would also hurt less industrialized systems far more than if the Sector limits were not in place. They would have a repeat of the last 100 years of the Republic when powerful Core Worlds made massive planetary defense fleets and leave worlds on the Outer Rim essentially weakened. By the Galactic Alliance acting as an an intermediary, buying the weapons and then suppying them to less industrialized and economically weaker worlds at no cost, it ensures stronger defenses overall. And it redistributes resources that are normally hoarded by the Core Worlds to the Outer Rim Territories so they can adequately defend themselves. Not only that but did you forget about the reconstruction efforts that were present during that time too? Those limitations ensured those worlds devastated by the Vong and abandoned by the New Republic were able to be taken care of.
      And even if you want to call the Galactic Alliance a renamed New Republic, it actually did manage to achieve this goal later on, lasting for over 100 years with planets having strong PDFs. Also, there is a worst time to have limitations for Sector Defense Forces, that would be in the Sith-Imperial War.

    • @CoreysDatapad

      Lore channels as a thing really didn't exist until after the reboot in the first place, and there's plenty of topics that haven't been covered, and different styles to do it in. My experience working on Thrawn's Revenge has made me very familiar with Legends, whereas I haven't engaged much with the newer canon, and part of why hardly anyone knows about it is because there's still a lot less there to know about. Also, the channel isn't solely for Legends lore. When I have suitable topics that I'd want to talk about with the new canon, I'll address those as well, especially comparing that was happening to different characters between the two timelines. This is only my second lore video on the channel, after all.
