I didn't even hesitate when I found out about this one. I've had it for a couple months and no regrets! I can now comfortably fit everything I need as an EDC/ school/ GHB. It's very sturdy yet flexible in its properties as a backpack. You hit all the points that I think we all love for the most part. Even the medical part of it as I work as an EMT. :) it's just an amazing piece of equipment. Really pricey but I got it on sale and it was a gift to myself so... yeah. Love this thing.
Great review as always. I was upset at first only because I bought the 20 then two months later this came out. The 20 is a little small. Soon as I save up for this one they will probably put out another better one haahaa. Been watching you for a month now & Im running through all your videos daily. Pdf files while watching make it soooo much more helpful. You're one of the top reviewers and you need more subscribers. No reason not to be over 500k right now
I'm glad you have been enjoying my channel and this video! I would love to get to 500k someday. I'm just thrilled to have made it to the 100k mark. I'll keep cranking out videos as efficiently as I can while also balancing my other life tasks. I think you would not regret upgrading to the Trident-31 whenever you are ready.
Good review. I enjoyed my Vanquest Trident 20 (black) for about a year and a half. It's really a good bag. I eventually stopped using the internal organizers and became a bit bored by the abundant PALS webbing. The size led me to switch, and in place I chose a Goruck GR1 (26L, black) with GR1 and Echo field pockets for improved organization. I finally had left over space! Then quite suddently I decided to reduce my daily EDC bag loadout as I'm never far from home, my vehicle, or third story office. I reduced my GR1 internal contents and finally realized I was carrying a mamoth bag. I bought a Goruck Bullet (10L, black) to become my EDC bag, and I'm LOVING the small, light, nimble approach to EDC. I bid farewell to my Vanquest bag and now it's on Ebay looking for a good home. I debated for weeks about whether to keep it because it's much like an old friend. I think the Trident 31 layout is geat, and I think the size is great, but it wasn't for me. Primarily, I wanted something simpler.
great review. feel the molle on the back of the bag makes it stand out? i have a 5.11 bag for my edc I'm gonna replace soon b/c it stands out so much with all the molle.
i'm in agreement that i think there should be internal loop fields for attaching labeling patches for organization and ease of finding a certain compartment. overall, a good-looking pack with some nice organization.
Thanks for watching, Sean. Yeah, smaller items could easily get misplaced in one of the various pockets in this backpack. Leveraging the color coding would be a nice solution to help with the aid of item location.
This OCD viewer likes your review very much. Great video. You are so right, it's expensive, but it will last a long time. Alway like that you do the pros and cons and suggestions for improvement.
I think the bundle package would be killer.I personally use the Eagle Creek Quarter Cube, but it would be sweet if you could get a Vanquest Recommended module layout.
This is the Backpack that they should've always made. Great functionality and aesthetics too. Shame about the price though, that's a fair amount for a backpack! Thanks for sharing.
I agree. They worked their way up to this point. I personally like seeing how the product line has evolved. Often times, it takes trial and error until you can really get a product to this level of refinement. I love that Vanquest is always trying to raise their own bar.
Good vid Cliff. It's nice to see that Vanquest is moving away from paracord zipper pulls..finally! One thing I'd like to see, is less internal Velcro, & more zippers. I hate the sound of Velcro pulling.
Very nice presentation. But as I watch you show the side, zippered compartments, I couldn't help to notice the stitching. Seemed a little thin. Especially where zipper is threaded to bag. Your thoughts?
Great to see a video from you, I was missing your videos. My favorite thing about Vanquest packs is the orange interior. I am now deciding between the Maxpedition Riftcore and the Vanquest Trident 31. Great Video! Cheers!
Sorry for the delay. My wife and I have been house shopping lately. Yes, the orange interior is great. I have a few more videos almost done. I've been backlogged again.
Great vid Cliff, always the right blend of entertainment and education. OCD tugs at my heartstrings! the 31 hasn't made it to the UK yet which is a great reason for me to win the giveaway :) House hunting is time consuming so that probably explains why I've not heard back from you regarding the M RN's radio computer interface project. I left my email in the comments of your original vid. Keep up the good work as best you can and good luck in your search for a new HQ Tom
Do you think it too heavy for female edc to work and such? I seem to be carrying an average of 8+ pounds and the four of just the bag is scary, but the bag is very nice!
again great review. I sure appreciate the quality of this brand. and I sure like the many pockets and organization capabilities. grat vid to show pros and cons. best review ever!
Looks like a backpack with which you can walk into the apocalypse organized and in style ... price a bit steep though, the first couple of times a zombie drools on them you are going to be so aggravated just due to that. Not to mention the way it would look and smell if you use it to behead one... not to sure if that would be to the point you might decide not to, which could obviously be rather dangerous... still though, tnx for sharing it in depth.
Are you going to continue the vehicle preps series? I just bought my first car and I would like to have a good, yet organized, amount of supplies in it and your organization is great
Yes. I just got sidetracked because we started having car problems and had to get a new one (with different storage options). I just need to pick back up that series.
As always, such a great review! Do you think that having too many pockets would reduce the weight? I like your organization but at some point is it too much micro-managing? $200 is definitely outside of my price range for that type of bag. We all know the quality is really high but are there any other comparable bags that are not as expensive that you would suggest? I can do the research myself too but just wondering if you'd given any thought to other "like" models.
Nice review Cliff, and I know what you mean about so many compartments. I have easily accessible inventory lists for my packs/organizers to help me find items that are infrequently used and hence out-of-sight-out-of-mind.
I seriously need you help! We have unique Dietary issues in my family. Trying to find food for long term storage is very difficult if not near impossible.
Thanks for another great showcase. That is a sweet looking pack, but it is even more out of my budget than even the Trident 20 is! I look forward to the contest though! I'm building out my backpack kind of as I go, but I'm having a very hard time finding the purple quarter cubes. Any other alternative suggestions for organizer cubes that come in the various prepping colors!? Thanks and keep up the great content!
Great vid. I’m thinking about purchasing this over the Falconer, but I see that the Falconer has compression straps, which is huge when your bag isn’t totally full. Have you compared the two bags personally? Any thoughts? Thanks very much
Is there really space enough to carry a hydration bladder, without losing too much space in the main compartment, organizational possibilities or comfort? You mention that the ventilation for your back could be better; I'm not an expert but it looks far better than most other backpack I've seen in this size category. (except for the Osprey suspended mesh structure)
I'm looking for something like this backpack but bigger (50 litres or more). something with a very similar design. Someone knows if there's a backpack like that? Thanks in advance.
i wish it had compression straps so you can keep the pack compact and close to you, like the maxpedition falcon does. that is something that matters to me on the comfort department
Thanks for another great video. Vanquest makes awesome gear. The one ting I miss that they took off was the bottom grab handle as one the first gen trident packs. It makes for me to grab it and swing it around to the front. Granted, it's not necessary but I like it.
Thanks for watching. I never liked the bottom grab handle, but I know that others loved it. To me, it always felt like an unused tail that was leftover from evolution. :)
Cliff, a most excellent review of the "Trident 31" The pros, cons and varied features. Given the review and price. For the price, simplicity and added size of a 48L bag. Would the "5.11 Rush 72" pack provide a viable alternative for the more price conscious prepper? Cheers, Mate.
I've been looking for something very much like that for work so that I can attached water bottle holders on the sides, I wouldn't need to spring for the holders for this one.
very thorough review thanks I might put this one on my birthday / late Father's Day gift list. by the way U.P. is there an infrared camera or infrared night vision set of binoculars that you would suggest for not too much money?
Booksie! IR and Night Vision is typically not cheap. Let me see what I can find though. Thanks for watching this video. I think this backpack would be an awesome late Fathers Day present.
Ugh! That's a really tough one. They're both awesome. I suppose it depends how you plan to use it. Do you like to use rectangular modules for gear organization? If so, go with the Trident-31. Do you use more of a free for all approach but with the Velcro Tactigami? The Gamut EDC would work great for that. Plus, it has two water bottle holders. Again, you probably can't go wrong with either.
very interesting and a ton of info! thank you for putting this up. no need to look for the lucky winner. im right here! haha cheers and keep these videos coming!
Hmmm.... I'd have to think about that. I usually don't like those type of bags. I either go double strap backpacks or messenger bags. Single strap slings always feel weird to me. I remember really liking the Vertx version though.
looks like a great bag to have especially if OCD on organizations lol. it is unfortunate about the price, but like you mentioned you pay for the quality. another great video.
I'm grinding my teeth as torture myself whether to send my Trident 20 back in favor of the new bag. I feel the 20 confined me to make better decisions, I've got an Oakley Kitchen Sink but stopped carrying because it was too heavy and had too much stuff. Decisions, decisions, decisions.....
Great Video and about the correct size for a Day Pack ! Clicked on the "Bell" so will not miss any more of your videos ! The TH-cam sub is failing... Have the 5.11 Rush 24 for a Day Pack and think it was just over one hundred USD (U$D) and about three pounds... The store had it in only non-tactical Black ! A FDE or Sandstone color and would not need a flashlight to see inside the pack ! A Day Pack with "The Ten Essentials" by the Seattle Mountaineers (B.I.=Before Internet) will keep you safe overnight and bring you home the next day. Have a Two-Wheeled Carry on bag for the airlines...Easier than to carry. Thank you for the video ! tjl P.S. One little old lady I talked to went to the airport W/O luggage... She had it shipped before by UPS/FedEx !
#TheUrbanPrepper Thanks for the review, liking your channel so far! For those looking to grab this bag, Vanquest has their end of year sale right now and this backpack is about $174 I think.
Nice review. Yes, a bit pricey. Good idea about a bundle package with the color coordinated cubes or cubes with the colored tags. Looks like it would be too big for me, I'm a bit more petite, maybe the 20 would be more my size. Anyways, thank you for the review.
Great review, thank you! I really laughed out loud when you said this backpack is OCD heaven :-) But unfortunately it seems to be missing some pen loops and a pocket for the wallet and other valuables which is only accessible from the back.
I didn't even hesitate when I found out about this one. I've had it for a couple months and no regrets! I can now comfortably fit everything I need as an EDC/ school/ GHB. It's very sturdy yet flexible in its properties as a backpack. You hit all the points that I think we all love for the most part. Thanks for sharing your feedback! I'm not surprised that it has served you well thus far. It's a great backpack.
I just love the organization aspects that Vanquest implements.
Good to see another video from ya...Your's are always well spoken, high quality and spot on. Kudo's.
Thanks. Sorry for the delay. I had to take care of a few family things. I appreciate the compliments!
Great review as always. I was upset at first only because I bought the 20 then two months later this came out. The 20 is a little small. Primarily, I wanted something simpler.
Great review! I have both the Trident 31 and 20. Your reviews help me better leverage the available features. You have a fantastic review formula.
I totally agree on the bundle idea. I wish something like that was available!!
great review. feel the molle on the back of the bag makes it stand out? i have a 5.11 bag for my edc I'm gonna replace soon b/c it stands out so much with all the molle.
Not really. I never received any comments about it being tactical. I think patches can help distract from the molle.
good to know...thanks!
Excellent review! Thanks for featuring my patch!
Nice to see your logo as a patch on the bag.
Thanks Stefan. I love your new patch!
i'm in agreement that i think there should be internal loop fields for attaching labeling patches for organization and ease of finding a certain compartment.
overall, a good-looking pack with some nice organization.
LOL! Like I said, it's OCD Heaven.
Thank You, for the continuance of excellence in all of your videos. always thorough and informational!
Thanks a bunch, Jason. That really means a lot to me and helps keep me motivated.
As ever Cliff, an interesting, thorough, and informative video. Really enjoyed it.
Thanks a bunch for watching!
You were the first person I scribed to and I have not regretted it yet , so thank you
Wow! Thank you so much. I'm honored. I'll keep cranking out new videos for you as efficiently as I can.
Are you still doing a give-away for this pack?
The giveaway happened over 2 years ago. :)
Thank you for the in-depth reviews! I look forward to seeing your vids! Cheers!
I always learn a lot from this channel!
I have the 20. I wish it had a good way to hook on my telescoping suitcase handle.
Thank would be an awesome addition!
i love this backpack, would be perfect for school, or camping, or pretty much anything! thanks for the video!
I'm sold +TheUrbanPrepper. Great review.
Awesome! It really is a great backpack that will last you decades.
TheUrbanPrepper I still use my Alice Pack issued in '92. I know what you mean.
I love my backpack. Agree with you they should have a bundle. I had a hard time picking the right pouches to fit in the main pocket.
I think the bundle package would be killer.I personally use the Eagle Creek Quarter Cube, but it would be sweet if you could get a Vanquest Recommended module layout.
It's been a while since a backpack review, great vid, thanks!
I know. It has been a while. I didn't drag this one behind a car. I'll be giving it away, most likely next month.
TheUrbanPrepper I'm totally in for that giveaway!
Great review! Orange is a great color in the bag. I can't see into the bag with black interior.
Lol very nice. I love all the organization pockets and slots.
I really do like that backpack I'm also OCD and love all the pockets in it great review
This is the Backpack that they should've always made. Great functionality and aesthetics too. Shame about the price though, that's a fair amount for a backpack! Thanks for sharing.

Great review. I'm considering it for my BOB. Thanks again
Good vid Cliff. It's nice to see that Vanquest is moving away from paracord zipper pulls..finally! One thing I'd like to see, is less internal Velcro, & more zippers. I hate the sound of Velcro pulling.
I agree. Getting rid of the paracord zipper pulls was great. I too prefer zippers over Velcro. It's hard to be stealth with Velcro.
Any new updates to you BOB or EDC??
Man, I wish that were more affordable.
Very nice presentation. But as I watch you show the side, zippered compartments, I couldn't help to notice the stitching. Seemed a little thin. Especially where zipper is threaded to bag. Your thoughts?

Tom
How is the house shopping coming along, did you get the house you bid on ?
Do you think it too heavy for female edc to work and such? I seem to be carrying an average of 8+ pounds and the four of just the bag is scary, but the bag is very nice!
again great review. I sure appreciate the quality of this brand. and I sure like the many pockets and organization capabilities. grat vid to show pros and cons. best review ever!

LOL! Too funny.
Hi there, what are you thoughts of the trident 32 backpack?
where do you guys live? any idea which other youtube prepper lives in the way of hurricanes happening now?
Is this company still going! Finding them in the U.K. is almost impossible.
Are you going to continue the vehicle preps series? I just bought my first car and I would like to have a good, yet organized, amount of supplies in it and your organization is great
Yes. I just got sidetracked because we started having car problems and had to get a new one (with different storage options). I just need to pick back up that series.
Love the vanquest line, great vid
I love their product line too. Lots of great gear. Thanks for watching.
Still satisfied with the backpack after a year of use?
Great review! Looks like a very versatile pack and had a lot of thought going into it.
Thanks Shane! They definitely put a lot of thought into this one.
Great video! We always look to any gear reviews you do! Taylor @ Vanquest
As always, such a great review! Do you think that having too many pockets would reduce the weight? Nice review Cliff, and I know what you mean about so many compartments. I have easily accessible inventory lists for my packs/organizers to help me find items that are infrequently used and hence out-of-sight-out-of-mind.
Thanks for watching! Yeah, it would be totally easy to lose a smaller item in one of the pockets.
I seriously need you help! We have unique Dietary issues in my family. Trying to find food for long term storage is very difficult if not near impossible.
Thanks for another great showcase. That is a sweet looking pack, but it is even more out of my budget than even the Trident 20 is! I look forward to the contest though!

Thanks for the review, now I need to go buy one.
Great review, I have the Trident 20 I use as a camera bag. My favorite bag. l like the side pocket on the 30.
Great vid. I’m thinking about purchasing this over the Falconer, but I see that the Falconer has compression straps, which is huge when your bag isn’t totally full. Have you compared the two bags personally? Any thoughts? Thanks very much
My husband has murdered several backpacks in the past. This one looks like one that can withstand even him. Great review.
Haha. I think it would survive your husbands wrath.
Is there really space enough to carry a hydration bladder, without losing too much space in the main compartment, organizational possibilities or comfort? You mention that the ventilation for your back could be better; I'm not an expert but it looks far better than most other backpack I've seen in this size category. Any chance of getting a video of your loadout of this pack?
I'm actually starting to use it for my work GHB. I'll keep you all posted!
Nice! I never owned a back pack before I think Im over due, lots of stuff to carry, I would like to purchase one.
Did you give it away yet? Trying to find one at a good price. Great review
This bag is amazing but I think I will wait for a discount..
Excellent review! Now I just got get me one.
I'm looking for something like this backpack but bigger (50 litres or more). something with a very similar design. Someone knows if there's a backpack like that? Thanks in advance.
Great review as always. Which pack do you prefer overall now, the 20 or 31?
Hmmm.... They're both really good. I can tell you that I use the 20 more often.
i wish it had compression straps so you can keep the pack compact and close to you, like the maxpedition falcon does. that is something that matters to me on the comfort department
Great Review as always! Thanks for the video!
Bo knows backpacks!
Looks great! How does the fit compare to the 20? For me the 20 was too tight.
I think the fit is much better on my frame than the Trident-20. Plus, the straps are more comfortable.
Ha, that's a good one! XD
Cliff, a most excellent review of the "Trident 31" The pros, cons and varied features.
Given the review and price. For the price, simplicity and added size of a 48L bag.
Would the "5.11 Rush 72" pack provide a viable alternative for the more price conscious
prepper? Cheers, Mate.
Thank you so much, Jack. The Rush 72 would be pretty big for EDC purposes, but better as a BOB.
Thank you for another great review.
You are very welcome, Danny.
I've been looking for something very much like that for work so that I can attached water bottle holders on the sides, I wouldn't need to spring for the holders for this one.
I think you may have found your new backpack then!
You should've came out for GORUCK Constellation a a couple weeks back. You missed one great training opportunity.
Very good review, well explained. A bit pricey for me. Being handicapped, the sections would give easy access.
Thanks for watching, Martha. Yeah, it is definitely pricey compared to other backpacks.
very thorough review thanks I might put this one on my birthday / late Father's Day gift list. by the way U.P. is there an infrared camera or infrared night vision set of binoculars that you would suggest for not too much money?
Booksie! IR and Night Vision is typically not cheap. Let me see what I can find though. Thanks for watching this video. I think this backpack would be an awesome late Fathers Day present.
Do you think this bag is probably too big for an EDC pack to carry around town?
I don't think so. Well, maybe for a small frame person, but for me it works great.
Great improvements Cliff, slightly scary price point but seems to be worth it looking at the features. Thanks for the video Sir :D
Great Review .
! I do Not/ can't drive so I always have a backpack, rucksack,
Knapsack ! This looks like a great choice!
Thanks! This backpack will definitely last you a very long time.
Excellent review. I like this bag but too expensive.
awesome review. as always very thorough. bit pricey for me at the moment though....
Thanks for watching, Adam. Yeah, it will be one that you need to save up for.
How tall are you?
This would be a great EDC bag for me but at $204-$245 Vanquest priced me out of my ***NEW*** EDC Backpack
Great review, in your opinion which backpack is better for EDC, the VERTX GAMUT EDC or the VANQUEST TRIDENT 31?
TheUrbanPrepper thanks
that's a sweet looking backpack!
Sweet Bag Great Review !!
Thanks Alan!
very interesting and a ton of info! thank you for putting this up. no need to look for the lucky winner. im right here! haha cheers and keep these videos coming!
Lol matroschka-backpack. Could it be of any use you put a backpack into a backpack?
Ha. Not really. I just wanted to show that the Trident-20 could fit in the Trident-31.
Great review! thank you
I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was fun to test and film.
Hey UP, what would you say is the best one shoulder style backpack currently out and why?
Hmmm.... I'd have to think about that. I usually don't like those type of bags. I either go double strap backpacks or messenger bags. Single strap slings always feel weird to me. I remember really liking the Vertx version though.
Thanks for getting back to me. I'll totally check that one out.
I like it, it matches the interior of my Tacoma.
looks like a great bag to have especially if OCD on organizations lol. it is unfortunate about the price, but like you mentioned you pay for the quality. another great video.
Thanks for watching, Jerry. Yeah, the OCD runs strong in this backpack.
Good vid as always!!
Great review.
Very nice backpack, unfortunately it is very expensive here in the EU...
LOL! If you're able to, I would upgrade to the 31. It will give you more options in the long run and is just a better design, IMO.
Good balanced review😀
Great review & like all your vids. the bag looks like my new edc, however at 200 PLUS shipping to EU... heard you will do a giveaway...
OCD, Sweet, I love it!
Excellent !!!
Cool backpack dat hat thou
I prefer the rush series packs from 5.11 Tactical.
Those are nice backpacks too!
Thanks for watching, Jade! Yeah, the Trident-20 could definitely be a better option for certain framed people.
Great review, thank you! I really laughed out loud when you said this backpack is OCD heaven :-) But unfortunately it seems to be missing some pen loops and a pocket for the wallet and other valuables which is only accessible from the back.
Haha.... OCD Heaven is a glorious place! Yeah, some pen loops would be a nice upgrade.
Nice Review!
Thanks for watching my friend.
That is a nice 👍 backpack 🎒
