    Great review, really psyched me up to explore more Vanquest products. Love the Urban Prepper channel because of the articulate presentations, concern for detail and practical applications. The family involvement also makes them more genuine and enjoyable. Keep up the great work! Love to receive the Vanquest's super backpack.

    I review several TH-cam Channels related to Prepping and I have to say that one of my favorite videos is the series of videos on your Urban Prepper Channel showing the evolution of your EDC system. It is great how you employ the modular concept and show how to mix prepping for the unknown with dealing with the daily routine.

    I love your videos, Cliff! One person who introduced me to prepping was Tactical Intelligence. He does a lot of different things on his channel. But the one I like the most is how to make your own water filter. Keep the great videos coming!

    If I was in the market for a pack I would definitely consider this if they could bring the price down just a bit. It really does look like a great little pack, and top notch presentation here as well TUP, thanks for the review.

    I just received my vanquest trident 20 and I can't wait to start to put together my new edc. I plan on doing a modular system similar to the one you had in the urban prepper video of your trident edc. The only difference is I plan to use either the vanquest punches or max petition pouches similar to +equip2endure video of his EDC. I enjoyed this video and the falconer is an awesome looking pack. Like you I can wait until they come out with a 40 liter version. Have a great weekend and God Bless.

    Man, your channel is great. That pack really looks amazing. I like that smaller packs really make you choose what you actually need and cut down on the bulk. I see so many BOBs that look like they weigh around 45-50lbs...without water...crazy. Even your 5.11 72 hour bag looks way too big. And I didn't realize how tall you are. so now I'm definitely not getting the 72 hour. At 5'9", I'd be falling over.
    I love Black Owl Outdoors. And I think their Bic Lighter Exposure videos are a great idea. That's a really cool way to answer a question a lot of people might have had about Bic lighters.
    Keep up the good work.

    Great review! I really like how well thought out this pack is. It may be my next pack. I also really like your idea for a hidden / collapsible water bottle pocket! I've always been torn on them. I like the idea of having pals / molle webbing on the side so I can expand my pack when needs with pouches, but I too alway like to have a water bottle with me. Your idea would be the best of both worlds!

    Excellent review, as always. Can't wait to see how you organize this for an actual EDC pack. My favorite TH-cam channel is yours for the simple reason that you are well spoken with organizational skills that I envy. I feel your flagship video is The Urban Bugout Bag from a few years back. I sub'd after that one. My current favorite low subscriber channel is Gadget Jeff TV. Great reviews and the dude is hilarious. Gotta check him out.

      Also wanted to point out a few packs that have taken slightly different directions with water bottle storage. Camelbak Urban Assault has two insulted side pockets that will hold a 32oz Nalgene. Tom Bihn Synapse uses a center pocket which works well to balance a pack; and there's the Direct Action Dragon Egg which has a side panel of PALS that unzips to expand and hold a water bottle... Not sure what size as I don't have that one... yet.

    In the shots where you wear the lavalier mic there's lots of ambient noise in the audio. It sounds like the typical audio quality you get from an in-camera mic. I'm wondering if you did actually use the audio from the lavalier mic.

    • @TheUrbanPrepper
      @TheUrbanPrepper  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Yeah, that microphone didn't work exactly as I was hoping for. It picked up a lot of my breathing. I used it throughout the video, even on the POV segments. I'm curious if it is somehow using both the lavalier and onboard mics? I'll keep tweaking my setup.

    Great video. Would this work as a laptop bag/go to work bag? You do a great job breaking down the different pros and cons of the gear you review.
    As for the contest TUP is my favorite/must watch channel and I love your Altoids tin builds; I've copied some of newer ones. I also like Black Owl Outdoors and my favorite videos are when they do a direct gear comparison such as "Vanquest Mobius Vpacker vs Maxpedition Jumbo Versipack". I have also found their "Fast Rope - 550 Paracord Carry" a great how-to video that I use to carry and store my paracord.

      Kevin Smith Thank you so much for the kind words. It doesn't have a dedicated laptop sleeve, and the clamshell opening would worry me with a laptop inserted. I wonder if there is a way to leverage the Velcro with some sort of add-on laptop sleeve?

    Great bag. One of my favorite channels is "An American Homestead". It is about two families that have moved off-grid. They demonstrate how to live a "simpler" life. In fact, they are living in their bug out location. The do demonstrations of how they live and throw in some product review. I think their signature video is Season One, Episode Six, Leaving the City.

    If you had to only purchase one bag that would combine elements of edc, get home, and bug out would you choose the falconer over the trident 20? I can only afford one or the other, that would be ready to grab at home and otherwise travel with me in my car. I'm thinking for the extra $25 or so the falconer would be the way to go since it will afford me additional space to add items as needed. I really like your modular approach and the falconer seems better suited to that as well. Am I answering my own question? lol.....still would like your input. Thanks.

    Also, how well would a 19" (17x10.5) padded laptop bag fit in the main compartment? I was looking at the 511 COVRT18 but the reviews say it isn't good for heavier laptops due to the bottom material only being 500D and it wears through after only a few months.

    Well Cliff it seem like a lazy way out but I actually put a lot of thought into choosing a prepper channel and video. After ruling out inactive channels and those that are much more about knives, guns, and and bushcraft than organized prepping, I selected your channel. And as much as I enjoy the EDC vids, I'm choosing your system organization video as my favorite. But I can hardly wait to see the revised B.O.B..

    Thanks Urban Prepper, great review!! While its not a prepping, bushcraft or survival channel, you simply have to check out Sort Of Interesting. This young man has taken life by the throat, moving out of home to buy a narrow boat and cruise the canals in the West Midlands of England. Through sunshine and snow, he boldly shares his quest to make life simple, introducing his viewers to his love for bike riding, journaling and of course, boating. Oh, and he's even self published a book of his adventures! There's a smattering of various reviews, the scenery is magnificent and it's a relaxing watch at the end of a hard day. If you can get past his accent, it's a channel you can quickly fall in love with. If one video was to sum up the channel, it's one titled; 'My Low Cost, Simple, Narrowboat Lifestyle'.

    Pack looks great !! A person I would recommend taking a look at is( Dean O) . He's a person who is rely traditional a lot of his videos are knife sharping and leather product making. He rely knows what he's talking abut using USB microscope to show you scratch patterns on edges. His flag ship video would be "EDC Threw the years" He gives you a over view of the type of EDC options that were available to people back in the day. From him taking a fixed blade to school everyday and no one getting offended bye it to his grandpas WW2 Navy knife and telling us how much it means to him . Truly he's a guy who was into the stuff we all into before it was "cool" . If your a new gear head make sure to watch his video to see how far gear technology has come from its early beginnings.

    Thank you Urban Prepper! Another great review! I'd like to nominate "Country Prepper" on youtube. The video I'd like to share is "Minimalist SHTF Bug out Bag." I think this is a good video because for those who are new to prepping, and don't have a lot of money to spend on expensive prepping supplies, it gives a good idea of what to start thinking about gathering for a bug out bag, and I think that's important. Who knows, maybe some day I'll start making prepping videos :D Good luck to everyone in the contest, fingers crossed!!!!

    Outstanding! Thanks so much for the review. I have been debating this bag for weeks vs the Vertx Gamut bag that you reviewed. I popped on the Vertx, but I'm wondering if I need to go with both? I'm not sure how to sneak that past the wifey...
    This is my first comment on one of your videos, but I am a long time lurker. I also have to come clean...I copy your loadouts almost one for one. I have had a pygmy falcon that was my edc bag for 3 years and when I saw you made the switch to the Trident 20...I bought one immediately. I had to special order extra "shelves" to go along with it as well.
    I would have to admit that your channel is my favorite. However in the spirit of listing another one...I love Hickok45 and his reviews. I don't have a specific video of his that's my favorite because they're all very similar, but I love how he just has fun while giving some good info on his firearms. He usually ends it with a "Life is good" and I like that as I feel the same way. On your channel though...I would highly recommend the Urban EDC Backpack v3.0 video. I shudder to think how many times I've watched both parts...

      Hannibal Smith Thank you so much for the comment and coming out of hiding! I really appreciate your support of my channel. I am flattered that you have emulated my systems. That is such a cool feeling. Wow. I would use the Gamut for an EDC and this one for a light weight BOB. I'm not sure about how to get this purchase past your wife though. Mine is really starting to have her patience run thin from all the backpacks and other gear floating around our home. I hope you decide to comment more. It's always great to hear from people who enjoy my videos. If you prefer to stay in the shadows, keep in contact via PM or email. Take care! ~Cliff

    Cliff, do you have to use both hands to undo the waist belt when strapped, like the Trident 20?

    • @TheUrbanPrepper
      @TheUrbanPrepper  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fifteen Buckeye Yes. It's exactly like the Trident. Not my favorite waist strap, but others seem to really enjoy the locking mechanism.

    Probably won't use all those webbing in the inside if you use your module configuration. A nice idea adding a bottle pocket/ sleeve for this bag would be like the Hazard4 Switchback, a nice zip sleeve can fit a 1L bottle. One thing I have notice about all this though bags is the waist strap poor design. Probably a little paddle strap and the option of removing could be a plus.
    Great review, very subjective, love your videos.

    Really like the pack design and agreed, wish it was a little larger.
    As for another channel, a fun and mixed one is "Survival On Purpose."
    Check out his "New Year Channel Update 2015" video. Gives you a good feel for
    the channel, what to expect and some of the musical talent of the host, Brian. 😸

    I would recommend MeZillch. He DIY all of his gear and they are truly EDC. You can kick down the door when he is in the bathroom and all his gears will be with him.

    I'm planning to buy this bag. I'm working in business environment so I need my laptop with me all the time. I wonder if it is a good idea to use this one as a edc laptop backpack. I have my eyes on the Trident 20, but it's too small for my business trip.
    Do you carry a laptop in this backpack usually?

    • @TheUrbanPrepper
      @TheUrbanPrepper  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Dang Khoa Nguyen Yes, although it is a little tight. The Vertx Gamut EDC might be a good option too.

    • @dangkhoanguyen3078
      @dangkhoanguyen3078 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TheUrbanPrepper With the Vanquest, I worry that there is no laptop sleeve in the main compartment. That may make my 14" laptop slide in it. Maybe I'll find a external sleeve with small handle so that I can "hang" it with the loop which actually is for water bladder.
      I actually like the design of the Falconer 27. It looks cooler in my oppinion :))
      Anyway, I will consider which one to buy, the Falconer 27 or Vertx Gamut EDC. They are also in the same price range.
      Thank you :))

    Awesome pack! I love Vanquest gear. My vote is for Jeremy from LearningToBePrepared. He is a survival/prepared TH-camr that is just starting up. His video Choosing a bug out, get home bag, and EDC bag pretty much sums up his channel.He also features Vanquest gear and gives a shout out to T.U.P. Thanks!

    Lack of water bottle pockets is a deal breaker for me. Also it has to be large enough to hold my lunch box and the rest of my EDC gear, a true EDC bag. As far as other channels I like, I'm most fond of Wilderness Outfitters and his 21st Century Long-hunter series.

    What kind of items would you put in the very front pocket with the dual zippers? It just seems like it has no use.

    • @vanquestgear
      @vanquestgear 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      This a good question, Evan. The dual zipper pocket is actually nice to have. For example, if the bag is laying on one side or the other, you can still get into that front pocket very easily. Also, I find, that if the bag is on my car seat next to me, having a zipper on both sides makes it really easy to get into it. I often keep things that I access very quickly while I'm driving in that pocket or as a throw-all pocket when I'm gathering up small items as I get out of my work car and into my personal car. Then, when I get home, I take the time to put those smaller items back into the correct organizers or pockets. I also keep a head lamp in that pocket so that I can always access it quickly without having a lot of other items in the way.
      Hope this gives you some ideas.
      Best regards,
      Jeremy @ Vanquest Team

    He Cliff, hope you see my name now in stead of "F" on Periscope! ;)
    Another great review. Really enjoyed it.
    For the contest there are two other channels that come in mind:
    - Living Survival: best bug out bag; dragon egg
    - Prepared Mind 101: Jessica X
    Both great in their own way.
    Hope to see a lot more video's in the future from all of you.
    Oh....do you have another Periscope-session planned? Would be great.
