Voices are usually recorded first, and then it's animated over. Actors are just given lines and a couple of images of their character. They were likely just shown the concept art.

I can't believe this thing actually got made in an age when CGI has come so far. Mainframe produced 'Reboot' in 1994, and that series looks 1000 times better than this! Before that, they did the CGI for Dire Straits' 'Money For Nothing' music video, and as blocky as it looks, they looked 1000 times better than this!

This.....this is why animation NEEDS as much time as it can get so it can actually look good. This is why shows like Adventure Time and Steven Universe need over 9 months to make one episode. This is why theater production animation films need years to make. You can't rush animation in over 4 months and expect it to look good. Art takes time. If you rush animation, you'll end up with a film like Rapsittie Street Kids. Also, I have no sympathy for the creator since he stole money from someone and has an ego big enough to think his work is actually good when he rushes his projects and treats people like crap.
PyroDanTheManiac I agree with you all the way. Hell, even one of CN's reboots, PPG is overly rushed with the biggest animation errors yet. But as for samurai jack, the creator takes the time to draw animation traditionally and beautifully. Animation is a challenging concept for anyone that would take months to create and maintain it without any mistakes.
But the animation in Steven Universe is lacklustre. I mean, I love the show, but there are so many errors and laziness and the storyboarders are so different in their interpretations of how the characters should look that it's obvious who worked on what. That shouldn't happen.
GirlBrony (Cringelord) Personally I think the Crewniverse spends so much time on intricate backgrounds and effects that the characters themselves suffer for it in the process. Also, aren't the backgrounds and initial sketches done in-house but the inking and sequencing done overseas by Korean animators? That might have something to do with the quality of the characters (ex. Connie's glasses disappearing between frames in some episodes).
Concept: Rapsittee Street Kids: Re-Animated. An actual animation studio takes the audio and reanimates the visuals! (And I don't mean the "reanimated" genre of videos that are collaborations or whatever like the Phineas and Ferb one, I mean a coherent, consistent style) After the last few minutes of this video, I feel bad for the guy who got ripped off, so I'd love for his Christmas present one year to be his movie but animated by a competent studio :')
The worst part is that they animated it traditionally once that season, and it looked great. Season Two is amazing though, worth buying the series DVD for it.

I can't believe this thing actually got made in an age when CGI has come so far. Mainframe produced 'Reboot' in 1994, and that series looks 1000 times better than this! Before that, they did the CGI for Dire Straits' 'Money For Nothing' music video, and as blocky as it looks, they looked 1000 times better than this!

Like from looks alone, 06 didn't specifically LOOK bad.... But it played bad, its story was shit, and everything else about it except for the music was horribly planned out and fucked up in one way or another.

This.....this is why animation NEEDS as much time as it can get so it can actually look good. This is why shows like Adventure Time and Steven Universe need over 9 months to make one episode. This is why theater production animation films need years to make. You can't rush animation in over 4 months and expect it to look good. Art takes time. If you rush animation, you'll end up with a film like Rapsittie Street Kids.
Also, I have no sympathy for the creator since he stole money from someone and has an ego big enough to think his work is actually good when he rushes his projects and treats people like crap.
PyroDanTheManiac I agree with you all the way. Hell, even one of CN's reboots, PPG is overly rushed with the biggest animation errors yet. But as for samurai jack, the creator takes the time to draw animation traditionally and beautifully. Animation is a challenging concept for anyone that would take months to create and maintain it without any mistakes.
But the animation in Steven Universe is lacklustre. I mean, I love the show, but there are so many errors and laziness and the storyboarders are so different in their interpretations of how the characters should look that it's obvious who worked on what. That shouldn't happen.

GirlBrony (Cringelord) Personally I think the Crewniverse spends so much time on intricate backgrounds and effects that the characters themselves suffer for it in the process. Also, aren't the backgrounds and initial sketches done in-house but the inking and sequencing done overseas by Korean animators? That might have something to do with the quality of the characters (ex. Connie's glasses disappearing between frames in some episodes).

Concept: Rapsittee Street Kids: Re-Animated. An actual animation studio takes the audio and reanimates the visuals! (And I don't mean the "reanimated" genre of videos that are collaborations or whatever like the Phineas and Ferb one, I mean a coherent, consistent style)

I read somewhere that they were trying to make this reminiscent of the Peanuts cartoons so I guess the sandwich is supposed to be like Linus' blanket and the Grandma babbling is supposed to be inspired by the wah-wah-wah sound the adults make in the Peanuts cartoons but for some reason the other adults in this cartoon don't
I want to hear from the character designers/animators. Was it all stuff shat out by this guy at Wolf tracer studios, or did he enlist some novices to put together a convincing enough package on paper to keep the charade up until the final product dropped. Who drew the kids? Was "rapsittie" something they bought out from an independent creator with stars in their eyes and then completely destroy the idea with low production values, or was the concept of "Rapsittie Street" entirely put together for this project?
