First day in service, June 2nd 2024. Couldn't resist an opportunity to have a little look and ride onboard Avanti West Coast's brand new trains. The class 805, they've named "Evero”
Join me for a first look around the inside of one, I travelled between Milton Keynes & Coventry and back. Travelling in First Class out & Standard class back allowing you to see both carriages. Also includes exterior shots of the units arriving & departing as well as walk through footage, seating area look around and the view & sounds from the vestibule and the passenger information system.
Look out for more of these in service on the West Coast Mainline from today onwards, they'll slowly phase out the voyager operations for Avanti.
Thanks for Watching this video onboard Brand New Avanti class 805s

Splendid to see these in service. I think the Avanti West Coast scheme fits these trains perfectly! The announcement system sounds nice too.
The acceleration seems impressive! I hope these units will serve Avanti well.
If this was how LNER designed the azumas I wouldn’t think twice about choosing to ride on one. At the minute if I want to go from the south to Scotland. It’s a 225 to Leeds or York. From there it’s a voyager the rest of the way, and even that surpasses the experience on the 800s.
Agreed tbh. I do the same.
Valid comments except that LNER didn’t design the Azumas, Hitachi did in conjunction with Virgin Trains.
LNER didn't design the Azumas. In fact, LNER didn't exist when the Azuma was designed. The accountants at the DfT designed them without input from what was then Virgin Trains East Coast. The Azuma is what you get when you have penny pinching accountants designing trains instead of actual railmen doing so with input from operator and passenger focus groups. I still like them. I have a back injury and find the hard, bolt upright seats really help with the pain. On an HST or a 225, I was always in agony and having to shuffle around trying to find a cosy position. I've covered hundreds of thousands of miles on Azumas now. I love them.
Leeds? Yoyager?! Why do this to yourself!!!!?
@@Aidankiwi I should’ve repressed sorry, I am aware of the development. I meant what came materialised into LNER. GWR received almost the same
This is the most perfect designed IET I've ever seen! ❤
Amazing, can't wait to go on them.
Excellent video. Nice that the 805's have commenced running in service.
The Avanti livery looks great on these!
this is really nice this train, I'm away to London next month and going to try and see them.
Nice railway video as always
Great video. Well filmed.
Thank you very much!
Nice 😃👍
I really like the lighting, no bright white A&E lights
The Class 805 Evero are very nice trains. Looking forward to seeing the Class 807 later this year.
I happened to be on one of these new trains today after work in London. Didn't know anything about it, I just sat in standard class and thought wow this new train is much more pleasant and spacious... it's a boxy carriage as opposed to Pendolino's rounded shape. Hope maintenance and cleaning will be done properly to keep the current state for a long time.
This is how IETs shouldve been done back in their first introduction with LNER and GWR. The interior seats look very nice and comfortable and the pallet is good to! Window alignment could be better and those single windowless seats in first class are a bit of a yikes
Sounds great accelerating. Shame the PA system is clearly audible though. Are you bombarded with "see it, say it, sorted" ("see it, say it, ****** off") every ten minutes throughout the journey? 😑
9:09Shut up!! Just tell us we're arriving at Rugby, that's all we need to know!
brilliant vlog id miss the pendolinos more i love there horns
The pendos aren’t going anywhere. These are just to replace the voyagers
@@TrainPlaneHub ahh ok
I would love to see a Shinkansen Hayabusa "GranClass" built on a class 805train.
To the people saying this is how 800s should've been, this is the product of years of trial and error with other sets. Its not like they were gonna be perfect first try.
I Was Suprised That It Had Actually Entered Service! I Thought It Would Still Be On Test Runs!
I Will Miss The 221 Super Voyagers As They Were Great Diesel Units On The WCML.
same here. I didn't realise it was today they're in service now.
XC WILL HAVE ALL 221’s
@@Feddergenetics not all
Cross country still uses them tho
Decent looking trains, but nothing tops an ÖBB Railjet. Thankfully, the Pendolinos are here to stay, as I believe that the electric Class 807's will only do less further routes.
they look so good
Fr
its doing a stopper route?
I thought for a moment we were on a LUMO train with all that blue livery. But then LUMO runs non-stop trains from London to Scotland. Very smooth ride and nice wide gap for the aisles.
I think the lner 800's look the biz I'm underwhelmed by the Avanti lump livery ain't bad either.
Where are you going ❤❤❤❤
so what's happening to the avanti west coast voyagers are they being put on other services
They are going off lease with Avanti and probably going to East Midlands Trains.
What are the seats like?
I have only ridden on GWR 800’s so far and those seats are awful. Sitting on an ironing board is more comfortable!
Great to see these in service, so we can get finally shut of the Voyagers!
Good video.
Safety announcements are an utter pain.

Going to CrossCountry, most likely
I think theyre getting rid of em
crosscountry and grand central.
Built in uk
Do these units tilt or is their top speed 110pm
their top speed is 110
These units don't tilt, but a new MU speed profile is being introduced to allow non-tilt stock to reach 115/120 with some sections of 125. However, this speed profile hasn't been comissioned yet, so trains are running to PS speeds (max 110), with the exception of the Stour Line which has MU limits already.
Not needed south of Crewe, where they'll usually work
Their top service speed is 125mph like all the other HSETs. They will not be able to do 125mph in EPS zones due to a lack of tilt though, but their far superior acceleration to the 221s and 390s more than makes up for this, and infact they even accelerate faster than voyagers under diesel power upto about 45-55mph.
Under electric power they have the technical ability to reach 140mph, which is why the acceleration curve is not as bad near 125mph as it is with trains built for 125mph operation or when under diesel.
Японцы умеют поезда строить)
Goodbye avanti west coast class 221, one of my favourite trains ever
Does anyone know if jounery times be longer due to the absence of a tilting function? And same for the 807s.
The journey times don’t have much in them because they make up for it with the acceleration. But they’ll only be used on certain services too which will be timed accordingly for 805s
No food service in first class?
There was no staff. Just someone in the shop. On the return there was none in first or the shop at all.
@@TrainPlaneHub that's disappointing
@@Faulty720it’s their FIRST DAY JESUS !!! Give over moaning
@@Feddergenetics it's not like the train has feelings. As for the rest, if you pay for first class with a company like Avanti then you should expect the same excellent level of service. To have no staff, except for one in the shop/buffet on is Avanti penny pinching, degrading the on board role (trying to get rid of staff) or just piss poor planning.
@@Feddergenetics there was catering staff strike
Their name is “Evero”, not “Avero”.
Ooop my bad. Still a crap name 🤷🏻♂️
@@TrainPlaneHubAgreed.
The name still sounds cool tho ngl
Hope the safety systems are more reliable than the reading lamp button.
The reading lamp button worked perfectly… 3 settings. Bright, dim & off?
Too many announcements need to tone them down
The passenger information system wasn’t working correctly at all. It was going off for about 15 minutes straight announcing every station to Crewe which wasn’t remotely true. It is not supposed to be like that.
@@TrainPlaneHubdidn't the guard have the ability to override misleading announcements?
Do they tilt like the pendolinos
No
Maybe functional but not pretty things, Shame in a way too variety going ou the window yet again
It's modernisation, expect old, outdated trains to make way for the new
The exterior looks good and smart in my opinion.
@@GreatEasternMainlineSpotsDidn't work well with British Rail back in the 50's & 60's loll
But definitely do agree with you there.
Do you not even get a free drink and a biscuit in 1st class?
Apparently not on this service. Usually food & drink service yes
It’s their FIRST DAY for crying out loud!! Give over
@AquaFonic ...1st day, 150th day....what's the difference? If you're in service as a first-class product, then provide the service.
You got a voucher to take to the shop for what is, essentially, a meal deal. As has been mentioned on another post, there was a strike by catering crews that day, so it may be different if you take one tomorrow, for example
@@Feddergenetics Have Avanti not been running this service previously then? I was sure they used a 221 on it the previous day. A reading light switch not working, or even the seat reservations not working is possibly excusable for a brand new train, but train crew service has nothing to do with the train's newness or otherwise!
Too many invasive and very loud announcements.
The gaps between related announcements are way too long as well.
The passenger info system on the outbound journey was broken. It was announcing to the wrong destination on loop for about 10 minutes.
@@TrainPlaneHub ok, hopefully it improves then.
Almost half and hour with very little info! !
What info did you possibly want? I’m a passenger on it I didn’t build it. Watch the video to see what it’s like 🤷🏻♂️
So unimpressed it all looks nice new , but soon faids to a shabby 3rd rate train , Hollyhead will be a indurance marathon on this , can see this lgetting rammed with day trippers , the now standard bus lay out and tin fittings and joke fairs for what is a commuter train not intercity , still enjoy them why you have them all ready talk they will be passed on too any one who have them. like the TPE mkVs heading fro the scrap lines soon .
They should have ordered more modern version pendolinos
The Pendolinos are better
Agreed
