One of the BEST performances by Gene I have seen. His stage presence and movements show everyone why they were a must watch. Younger people today will never understand really what KISS did to the world. I made sure mine listened and took them to a show a few years ago to enroll them into the KISS army. Never again will the world witness anything close to what these dudes did.
Kiss shows why they were an original driving force in rock n roll. Pure raw energy and showmanship. They are the best, period! You can say they had gimmicks or whatever, you are wrong. These guys were smart, they were innovative, they were incredible to watch, and they put out kick-ass music. What more can you ask for? Absolutely one of the greatest bands of all time.
I'll echo the praise for Ace and Peter...but I love Gene's bass playing here too. This riff has a groove that you've got to nail and he does it without any effort at all. Especially like how he takes it down an octave before each chorus....great detail that makes sound really heavy.
Ace's scorching guitar lives forever in these wonderful vids from 1975. As so many people here have said, I too was a KISS freak mainly because I was an Ace freak:) Lance in beautiful Bremerton, Washington
I first saw this on the big video compilation they released. I fell in love with it. The gave every shoe their all. Gene is amazing in this. They were so lean, mean and hungry back then. Badasses
I watch videos like this from 1975 and think what people were thinking back then, "Make up and blood and fire? This will never work", and here it is 2011, Simmons is 62 and Paul is like 59, and they are still rock stars, still packing stadiums, still full of energy. They don't have the energy and drive as when they were 25, they are not starving anymore, they are friggin old man, but they still rock for their age. Still the best show on the planet!
It was not a competition between Kiss and Led Zeppelin. Both groups had their own and unique sound and we're both trend setters at that time.I admire both groups for the mark they both made in Rock n Roll history.
They gave the band its "feel" and swing, the push and pull...obviously, it was raw and loose but when they got it right, it sounded incredible. Eric Carr was an awesome drummer, really heavy, but it sounded better with Peter (imo)
There was once a great hard rock band named KISS. They ruled the earth and created truly heavy tunes, such as this one and "Strange Ways". Their best material stopped at "Destroyer". Greed, internal conflict and fame caught up with them, the group died and the commercial machine was born. KISS, 1973-1976
@@JoyofBooking BS, you never apparently heard Rock and Roll Over and Love Gun immediately following. They never died...they had a few hiccups, always came out of it. You must be a Nirvana fan?
"Best thing of the best thing." Is correct. This is the best band in the world! The band is right on track then and it amazes me it is still going strong today! It will be interesting to see where KISS takes us into the future.
I can understand why it took them three albums to catch on big. Songs like this sound like nothing else coming out of 74/75 & they look crazy with the makeup / costumes.
Gene Simmons was a larger than life spectacle to me when I was 12 in 1975…I was not too sure about him, but I was sure about Ace…and the guitars sound great on this video. I can really hear the depth of the tones
Imagine this band, this music, 1975. I was 7. Just starting to find my music. Then - 4 comic book super heroes come blasting into existence, a major WTF/holy $#!* moment. It was amazing. Just, amazing.
Absolutely - I've been a KISS fan since 1979, Ace is amazing player. His string bends and vibrato are so accurate also - check out his solo in Goin' Blind. Amazing.
From the second LP, Hotter Than Hell. KISS was still struggling during this time and trying to get noticed. I heard this live for the first time on the Revenge tour in October 1992 when they performed at the Carolina Coliseum in Columbia, SC. From what I have heard, they usually played at least one song from the first three LPs at each show. It's good that they still pay tribute to the early days.
My brother Peter and I got to see them in 1979 in Fresno Ca.Great show I think that this version of Parasite is one of their hardest sounding songs that I have ever heard them do.Pauls and Aces guitar riffs, Gens bass and Peter Criss drumming is amazing!
Can you imagine walking into this club that night n seeing this shit for the first time!! I would have been rocking so hard I might burnt the club down!!! This is KISS at their hungriest and heaviest!! My favorite footage of them ever #!!!
many people have attempted this guitar solo. a few might have even come close. but no one..... NO ONE peels of these licks as effortlessly as the man, Ace Frehley. and you can have 6 million double drum kicks, a thousand tom toms and have the technique.... you'll never play this song with the swing and the feel of the cat-man. ORIGINAL KISS FOREVER!!
I'm so lucky to have seen KISS live in 1976, 77 and 78 in Charlotte. All sold out, all amazing shows. We can watch this video, and it's wonderful:) but you had to have been there to feel the raw power---I am telling you they RAISED FUCKING HELL! brought the house down every time.
I was VERY fortunate to have a BROTHER who loved ME ! and bought me a ticket to their show in VANCOUVER BRITISH COLUMBIA! it was one of their last shows with their make on ! never forget it still one of the BEST live shows EVER !
Wicked stuff - whole band on terrific form! Reminds you of when you first heard that riff - then you can't seem to remember the world without it!!!! Always sounds great each and every time... Thanks for posting.
I was 8 years old and not yet aware of KISS but my older brother and cousin were accumulating their stuff only to be passed to me. It was probably like Destroyer before I became hooked and a fan for life.
I saw them perform this live for the first time on (of all tours) the Revenge tour in October 1992. They came to the Carolina Coliseum in Columbia, SC. Faster Pussycat & Trixter opened. Trixter was on the whole tour, but they had other bands to open besides FP.
My all time favorite KISS song. I liked Gene back then better than his later years. He seems more raw and gritty in this vid. Song is also heavier than some other KISS songs.
Back in 75', Kiss set the precedent and did for many, many years, thus changing the path of rock for many. This is pure art, and the masses eternally thank thee.
This is just plain coooool! C'mon Equestrainable, it is great glam/stripped down rock music. At this point in time they must have appeared to be a little on the scary side. No, they weren't the Beatles, but for awhile KISS really had a good thing going, and this rocks!
Precious Footage, thanks for posting. Gene REALLY looks scary, full Power Hard-Rock ! ! A young Band, like a Vulcan before exploding. One of the most powerfull Songs from Kiss.
I wrote a song (If you're going my way let's go) that has two parts: Purple Haze influence, and Parasite influence. I start the second half off with the Parasite guitar riff before Ace tears into his awesome solo. In my opinion, the solo bridge riff is one of the hardest hitting riffs of ALL-TIME!!!
Finally, we have the greatest live version of this song back on the internet! Pure passion.
Now if we can only get songs from cobo hall January 76 back up again, kiss at it's best !!!!
@@rogerbennett6117 Yep, my absolut favorite KISS shows. I really hope that these concerts will show up again one day.
You damn right brother kiss when they was good
i dont care what anybody says..KISS RIPS IN THIS PERFOMANCE!! Soo Heavy!!
75-76 Kiss especially Ace were top notch. Hungry!
Fucking right they do.
I was born in 93... Found this groove on the 'Kiss my ass' DVD
Fucking right they do brother!
Absolutely. I feel the deep rooted funk. They are on the 1
That riff so fast and violent. This song is almost a proto-thrash. I like it!
If you consider this "proto thrash" you have no idea what this is. Moron.
Ace creation
Antrax tiene una versión

Ace Frehley= most underrated guitarist ever.
Pre-Desteoyer Kiss had a badass garage sound.
And a real seedy underground New York club aesthetic

This riff is like an attack! And here you can clearly see that Gene is 100% beast! Man this is cool.

Amen brother. 😊
The drum track is awesome as well. Great song (written by Ace).
Not a track..live drums
I love that this is shot in black & white. It just adds to the rawness of the music.
People for years have been calling out Peter for his lack of skill on the kit, they should listen to this…he’s giving those drums hell!
There will never, never, never, ever, in any way, shape or form, ever be anything better than this in the history of music.
Classic! People forget how truly metal KISS really were back in the day. Heavy shit!
Kiss firing on all 8 cylinders.
I'll echo the praise for Ace and Peter...but I love Gene's bass playing here too. This riff has a groove that you've got to nail and he does it without any effort at all. Especially like how he takes it down an octave before each chorus....great detail that makes sound really heavy.

This is one of my fav KISS songs and what a nice live representation. Peter is kicking ass on that splash cymbal...
SMACKS IT!!!
A great song I forgotten about. Gotta love that guitar riff. I also love the sound of Gene's bass in this.
garshk--yeah, me too. I think it has to be more than years--probably more.
Hotter than Hell. LP.1974.
Listen to Ace’s version on his Origins record. Unreal
I love this live version of this song better than the album version. One of my favorite KISS kickass songs.
For 1975, damn, you wouldn't expect this version of Parasite to hit hard and heavy- I think this was great 🤘🔥😛🔥🤘💯
It's great to watch Gene Simmons:
Playing bass like the devil
With no fat.
Without a tooth.
Singing high notes.
And humble.
Good times are gone!
Peter using Ludwig drums…and they sound AWESOME !!!!!!

One of the Greatest KISS moments. You could tell they were trying to take on Zeppelin with this Great Track. Love Gene's Vocal, and Peters Drumming!!
It was not a competition between Kiss and Led Zeppelin. Both groups had their own and unique sound and we're both trend setters at that time.I admire both groups for the mark they both made in Rock n Roll history.
Its Gene and Paul on the verses, Then Ace joins for the chorus.
What an awesome version of this song...excellent!

Peter was the original drummer.Nuff said.
Ace is still my hero !!!
Peter was a monster on the drums, few compare
@@panzerken original, not the best by a long shot.
That's right. Soloing and playing guitar is not about speed, it's about how it sounds, and KISS sounds good.
Why don't they play this on the radio one of the best Kiss songs......
1) radio sucks
2) radio is no where near worthy
3) Beth was a hit , and thats why
So much energy, so much power, so much METAL!
Whatever they say about this band...this is heavy swinging rock at its best
Heavy metal perfection circa 1975
The bass and drums is truly ancestral
They were really the hardest band in these times !
Sabbath was a bit harder.
There was once a great hard rock band named KISS. They ruled the earth and created truly heavy tunes, such as this one and "Strange Ways". Their best material stopped at "Destroyer". Greed, internal conflict and fame caught up with them, the group died and the commercial machine was born.
