Finally a review on the Dagger and it did not disappoint! I’ve been waiting to see what your thoughts were on the tent I’ve been rocking for 2 years. Great work Dan, Eric, Emmit, and Carter. I’ve been using the dagger 3 person for two years now and I love it. 4 lbs May seem like a lot for a backpacking tent but when you’re 6’-2” it’s awesome. It fits my two young kids and I perfectly!
    Also What Up Carter!!!

Thanks Dan and Eric for the in depth comparison from the 2 OSMO tents from NEMO. Great choice for both tents. I actually bought the NEMO OSMO Dagger 3P tent because my husband is 6'4" and I'm 5'8.5" with 2 NEMO Tensor Insulated Wide Pads (25"). We have plenty of room for both of us and our gear. I can also use my extra Gear Loft from my NEMO Dragonfly 2P tent on the other side which gives us both our own gear lofts. Sweet! We love the NEMO products for backpacking in comfort. 😁

What up Carter! Great video guys. I’m trying to get my 11 year old daughter outdoors more so maybe Carter can talk a little in front of the camera in the future to share his experiences now that he’s been doing it for a while with dad. Let’s get these younger generations out more. Thanks again, all of you, for the great content.

I have carried my Nemo Hornet 2 on many trips and love it, "glorified 1 person tent" is a great description. I love it for the light weight, roominess (for one person), generous vestibules and door sizes. My favorite tent for backpacking, if I am not using a tarp this is my tent.

I just recently got my Nemo Hornet Osmo 1p tent. I can't wait to try it out soon. The two person tent looks incredible in this video. Nemo does such great gear.

    • @sk-wx1cf
      @sk-wx1cf ปีที่แล้ว

I recently tried out the Hornet Osmo 1p. It was...ok. With that very short brow pole (it's not even a pole, more like a wing attachment) it really pinches together at the top. I didn't like that the zipper is only one way, i.e., only one zipper pull, and it feels pretty flimsy, but maybe it's tougher than it feels. It does fit a 25" wide pad with some room left for gear. It rained for 1/2 day and there were no leaks though it sagged a little. On the same trip a friend had a BA Tigerwall 1P and that tent definitely has more headroom. You can compare them side by side on REI.

    Great comparison video!
My main complain about the Hornet is that it's technically a single wall tent on the head side. If it rains, that really becomes problematic. The fly is just wet and whatever touches it becomes wet too.
Has this been an issue for you too so far?
    Oh, and what up Carter!

Literally just bought a Dagger Osmo 2P couple weeks ago. I haven't been able to sleep in it yet but am going to find out next week. However, I have set it up a couple of times tho and must say that I am very impressed.
The amount of room is awesome, def enough for two people to fit comfortably.
I do wanna share some critique tho. The landing zone is very gimmicky to me, I don't really see myself using it at all and seems to me like another little hassle to attach to a tent that already takes a little more time setting up.
In regards to setting up the tent in the rain, it is def possible if only quite more cumbersome. You can def pitch it with the rain fly first and the inner second but it does take more effort and time to do so.
Apart from these criticisms I think it's an awesome tent, can't wait to use it and looking forward to see how well it will hold up in the coming years.

I have the dagger 2p osmo and love it! The Osmo is amazing and I’m reluctant to get a tent in the future that isn’t a poly sil whatever it is fly. Water beads off like water on plastic. There are some more pros that weren’t talked about. It also has some vents with little vent poles on each vestibule. You can also completely roll up each vestibule and attach them to the guy out loops. Just figured that out last weekend. For those nights you’re unsure if it’s going to rain but you want maximum air flow.

What up Carter!!! Hey, I also watched Eric's video the other day on that tent as well!! I have the Osmo Dagger 2 person and love it!! The waterproofing on the fly works great!! We recently went out and stayed through a complete down pour all night, and I stayed completely dry!!! That "landing zone" I thought was kinda cheesy at first, but I have used it every time for muddy boots, pack, extra gear etc...complete game changer. I am a 10 mile or so per day kinda guy, and this works out amazing for me!! I would TOTALLY recommend the Nemo Dagger Osmo for anyone lookin for a quality tent, and don't forget the most important thing, it's pricy, but it has a lifetime warranty!!! Way to go Nemo!! Thanks guys!! Great content!!

Dagger OSMO 2p…luv mine…switched out stakes to MSR groundhog. When solo, I use the “shoe tray” on inside…no worries about critters in shoes. My sister and I slept comfortably…and b/c we both be on the shorter side, our packs fit in at our feet. One trip, fly was wet…next site/stop, hung it and it was dry in 5 minutes, there was a breeze.

You guys were spot on with your reviews

I was either going to buy the BA Copper Spur 3p, Sea to Summit Alto 3p, or Nemo Dagger OSMO 3p.
Erik and you have shown the first two but…
Because of Devin and his videos about the Nemo tents earlier I think last year and this year (and price for what you get) I went with the Nemo Dagger OSMO 3p. I hike with my wife a 25 lb corgi pup. The true rectangular floor, premium stakes, added outer vestibule caddy, and ease to split it between two backpackers was such a win for me.

I have the previous version of the Dagger 2P and I absolutely love it. I’m 6’4” so my sleeping pad is large wide. The Dagger has plenty of space not only for the pad, but also I love being able to sit upright in it with plenty of headroom. And the large vestibules are awesome. If it’s raining I’ll just setup my entire cook kit in the vestibule with the outer door closed and the inner tent door open. I mostly backpack solo and have never been concerned about the extra weight of the Dagger compared to the Hornet.

What up, Carter? Glad you brought your dad and friends to Oregon, hope you enjoyed backpacking here.
Nice tents. Expensive tents! But the Dagger looks like it's got great room and the weight is manageable if it's s 4-season tent. If the Dagger is not a 4-season, then the Hornet and a nice tarp are a better combo for achieving a 4-season shelter while backpacking (meaning room to stay dry under constant rain with space for quick cooking in the dark). For the price of a Dagger one can buy 10 cheap tents with just as much space and maybe a pound difference in weight, and not a care on disability when you take it car camping.

Hello Dan. I just bought my 2nd NEMO Dagger 3P. I section hiked the AT during covid. I brought the 3P with me as I'm 6'2 and weigh 205. I felt it was too heavy to pack. So I traded at REI for a Big Agnes Tiger Wall UL2 at just 2 lbs to cut my weight by 3 lbs. I am disappointed in the Big Agnes. So I now just bought the NEMO OSMO Dagger 3P. It was such an awesome tent before that I'm willing to pack the weight. The shape of the tent is awesome. Good room. The ultra-lighters on trail gave me grief about my luxury hotel but so be it. lol.

What up Carter? My girlfriend and I have used the Dagger 2P for the past year, both backpacking and in campgrounds and we love it! It has enough space for the both of us to fit perfectly. It would be a little tight to use just in a campground if you have no intention of backpacking, but if you want a tent that would be good for both backpacking and campgrounds, this is it! When we use it backpacking, we split up the tent and the poles between us to even out the weight.

I was in the market for a tent to bring on Bikepacking and Trailhiking.
So it had to be somewhat freestanding, because i dont carry trekkingpoles while cycling.
And it needed a small pack-size, to fit my Backpack and fit on the Bike.
Besides the weight, the Hornet fits in a regular Backpack horizontally - and can also mount on the handlebars of your race/gravel-bike, all in. No need to carry the poles separately.
And i actually rigged the footbox with a Trekkingpole once, while camping on a platform on trail - worked out really well.
One thing that surprised me, in regards to packsize is that the Hornet is also quite the flat package, the volume packed is really small.
