- As the proliferation of 5.56x45mm rifles in Ukraine continues the latest rifle to begin to be seen in use is the Heckler & Koch HK416. Small numbers of the rifle have been seen in use with Ukrainian special operations forces so far.

You know I used to think the crazy weapons varieties in the Battlefield or COD Modern Warfare games were unrealistic for an actual modern conflict, but at this point its crazy to think the only gun from those games we haven't seen in this conflict is the FAMAS.....yet.
actually there is surprising lack of variety from non nato guns, if you look at video games you have all these crazy designs like an94, groza etc. and the a545 have only been spotted once
It's there we just have to seen itin a video yet 😊
@@lefunnyN1 well as someone already said the majority of those weird Russian guns never make it to mass production, that being said besides the A545s we have seen a couple examples of grozas (possibly airsoft), those weird 12.7 assault rifles (SHAK?), ASVK AMRs, VKS 12.7 sniper rifles, pp2000s, Zenitcio bullpup Aks,
@@lefunnyN1 you're not going to see non nato weapons when you're watching western propaganda though
I'm still waiting to see the AUG in use as well.
Light, durable, and simple. The holy trinity of rifle virtues.
Light?
@@BrettBaker-uk4te more like boat anchors
@@FranzAntonMesmer depends what variants of both you're trying to compare. if you've just got a bare bones ak74 it's gonna be lighter. if you're comparing a 416 to an m4a1 you're usally heavier. again it depends on the variant but on average you're heavier with a 416
Piston ar's are not lighter by any means.
It's nowhere near as simple as the original DI design.
Don't forget about the Sig Sauer 516 rifles, there are cool images of them being used by the pro-Ukrainian Chechen forces, including a few pics showing unboxing of brand new rifles.
Oh man, SIGs, Daniel Defense, all the GROTs and Brens I still need to cover! Thanks for watching!
@@TheArmourersBench Thank you for making these videos ;-)
@@TheArmourersBench Haven't seen any SIG show up yet.
Ohh there's a load there. MCX and 516s mostly.
Where have you seen those pictures of unboxings, if you can share it would be highly appreciated, ty!
The HK416 is just one of the rifles of all time
I think you meant the 'best' rifles of all time. But you are not wrong. It is also one or the rifles of all time.... One of all of them
@@tominator369 That is correct, but formulating that sentence in this way (intentionally leaving out the word: best) has become a meme and that's why I did that.
@@tominator369 Nope, actually slightly worse than any premium or well put together modern DI rifle, garbage gas port size and gas block (inherently needs to be overgassed in order to cycle the entire thing) resulting in incredibly mediocre suppressed usage, a scuffed handguard/rail attachment and retention method by a single faulty cross bolt, retarded weight increase over comparable firearms due to the bulk up front and much, much more. I’ve been using M27s /HK416s for years now and by God I love these guns to death but there are better options out there that have superseded it since it’s inception in 2004 due to the Mk.18 program slogging in place when CAG wanted a solicitation for a shorter gun than the M4 (yes there were a multitude of options for a shorter 5.56 gun back then).
@@tominator369 ya got woooshed
She's all you need.
Suppressors are really proliferating across global conflicts. They'll be fairly common in most NATO militaries in another decade maybe. The tactical benefits and relatively limited downsides in an external pistol system are impossible to ignore.
The sound and flash suppression are life savers. Some interesting locally made cans too.
The one in d video is M416 with silencer and silencer
Yeah but to get them super quite you have to use sun sonic rounds and they don’t have the velocity of a normal round
@blackpanther5086 not to mention it takes time to get a supperessor for civilians
@@TheJoeml85 even with a supersonic round it provides a significantly reduced soundtrace and less recoil
Hk 416 is all you need.
850 rpm is nice to have
Thanks for watching guys, I promise I'll get to the GROTs, BREN 2s, FNs, SIGs and Daniel Defenses as soon as I can. Check out the accompanying article for this video I've added a few corrections and additional accessories seen on some of the rifles - armourersbench.com/2023/06/18/heckler-koch-hk416s-in-ukraine/
YES I definitely want to hear more about Daniel Defense!
Just a heads up but you misidentified a B&T Rotex as a Surefire Socom RC2 @ 1:40
Yeah I know, thank you, people let me know 15 minutes after the video came out haha.
I’m glad they don’t have and KAC SR-15’s there it would be a shame if a Russian captured one, I would be pissed, let them have the Daniel defense sense both sides use it anyways
Seems like the West sending the "good stuff" isn't just restricted to the big systems!
Meanwhile they are trying to ban them from US citizens… it’s messed up
Nitpicking but the 416 at 1:29 seems to be equipped with B&T Rotex III C suppressor, as it has a 2 tone build, with the body being tan (like here) or dark grey and black locking collar, while SF Socom is monotone fde or black. Also the locking collar is longer and smooth with more massive locking lever, just like the B&T, while SF has a short collar with grooves and a small locking lever.
[EDIT] I think it might be a rotex V, as the muzzle end seems to have "prongs" (i don't know what these are called) instead of a flat muzzle of the rotex III.
the prongs on the end of the suppressor are effectively a muzzle flash reducer. Sound suppressors normally reduce flash already, but out of a short barrel they can still be quite bright unless you put a flash suppressor on the muzzle cap.
100% B&T Rotex III!!
I came to say that. But you beat me to it
Thanks for coming.
@@colbunkmust nope. They're for breaking glass.
Something I'm looking forward to once this war is over, is seeing what rifle the Ukrainians will choose as their standard issue rifle. Considering it seems like they have every modern rifle in service at the moment.
I still see a lot of wood furnitured AK’s with iron sights.
@@Chiller01 yeah, mainly TDF units while a lot of the higher profile units get first pick of the good gear. going to need it more than a reservist that is going to sit on the defense lines around Lyman. AK is good rifle, but when you need gear for assaulting russian positions you want an HK. still got hundreds of thousands of AK's just lying around from the soviet days
Frankly I think they’re probably going to go for something domestically produced.
Ukraine is probably going to try to greatly expand its MIC after the war.
That or the GROT.
@@baneofbanes My thoughts exactly.
Getting rid of the AKs also have a visible effect of de-Russification.
So I think Ukraine gonna go the Taliban route, shifting towards western weapon.
But Ukraine have the capability to make domestic weapon & it will surely be influenced by western design.
I also wanted to say keep these vids as detailed as possible! Absolutely love it when u talk about the specs, accessories of these kitted out weapons! I have many of the optics shown here, live seeing Holosuns out in the wild. Have even seen my favorite, the newish HS AEMS and core models as well
One thing I’d like to point out is that the aimpoint M5 on the rifle at 2:42 seems to be marked with the Swedish ”three crowns” symbol used for marking swedish armed forces materiel. Meaning that the optic likely originates from the Swedish armed forces
Well spotted, I think you're right.

@@commiesnzombies What does that have to do with anything?
Damn they're lucky to get HK-416s.
I’m quite sure the optic at ~ 6:24 is an Aimpoint Comp M2/3 with the front lens cap flipped open.
Great vid as usual 🙂
Ahh it could be! Thank you
A dedicated video about modified Ak's is going to be very interesting as there are numerous of them.
Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Eagerly awaiting a video on the F2000s seen last year, perhaps the most rare rifles of them all in 2023
Oh yeah, I need to do it. They're still in use. I just wish I had more time to make these vids. Thanks for watching
Can we pretend they dont exist please, they make me feel sick. I think id genuinely refuse to use one.
Little correction, the rifle at 6:21 isn't outfitted with a magnified optic and red dot, thats an aimpoint CompM4s with the lens cap flipped open (its a red dot)
You are my favorite channel man, keep up the good work!
Thank you! Will do.
The HK416 was an AR designed by Special Forces for Special Forces in combat. No doubt that it will serve anyone on the Ukrainian side well as it’s one of the best reliable ARs in the world.
Overall I prefer my knight's armament SR15 to the HK416, but I shot a real full auto 416 a few weeks ago and it was one of the better full auto shooting experiences I've had. It's heavy and overgassed, but it still holds a special place in my heart.Would be interesting to see a video on Knight's armament products spotted in Ukraine.
Do you know how old that 416 was ? earlier models are known to be overgassed, gas port erosion also doesn't help. Current production models are supposed to be better.
The HK shines in cold, muddy, sandy and wet environments so I’d bet that’s why they’re so treasured around the world.
@@chrisbowman1492cold enviroments the Ak still beating it, but in muddy areas i prefer the Hk.
@@andreisouzabento7506 Norway loves them.

Have you seen the Robinson Armament XCR-L? It's an US made rifle that can be mistaken for the FN SCAR or ACR.
Yes I actually have! I will do a video on those too. Thanks for watching!
its an ak!
The AR pattern rifle is truly the most rifle of all time.
Taliban approved thanks to our old creepy lame president
I have to say that the Heckler&Koch G3-frame is quite unbeatable...But Im a (heavily biased) Norwegian😂
@@Rolf-farmedfacts-supervisorthe g3 and hk53 are awesome guns so is the mp5 but the ergonomics on the ar15 are just better imo
@@cantsneedgaming4591 I guess its a question of experience, I can count on one hand how many clips Ive fired thru an Armalite.
But 7,62x51 on the other hand..its really a beast when compared to most other calibers.
I mean, the Raufos and the equal to greentip becomes monsters in that caliber.
The recoil in the Armalite seem very controllable when compared.
Anyone else notice that beautiful M14 EBR! 4:26
416 at 3:15 is equiped with an Aimpoint comp5 marked with the swedish armed forces three crowns
Ahh the Crowns, well spotted.

So happy I found this channel
I am not surprised to see these pop up. I heard of plans to send these. If I was a Legionary and was issued this, I would feel very happy about that. It is a great rifle. A bit heavy for an AR varrient, but still, something you can trust your life too. I have aged out of possible legionary work though. Young man's work, ha.
Great info!

Seems like nl sof stock since they switched to the a5 model so they did send they’re older ones
Exactly! Thanks for watching.
The 416a5 @ 1:39 is paired with a B&T Rotex V suppressor not a Surefire.
Thank you
The "416A5" at 1:44 is fitted with a B&T Rotex V Suppressor, not a surefire rc2.
Why is there a union jack patch at 4:54?
On the helmet, looks like a velcro patch.
Probably because a lot of them are British volunteers in that group.
interesting as always
1:42 its not a surefire supressor, It'S a B&T Rotex V or X ...
Thanks!
Crazy seeing holosons in a conflict now. Haven’t seen to many trijicon MRO’s
Same with vortex as halo and vortex being cheaper in price but at this point it's use what ever you can source out
Would you do a short vid on the SIG 516's seen in the conflict? Slept on rifle. Love mine
Yeah, I am hoping to!
What over the barrel suppressor is that? Never seen that one before.
Russia : We seem to have successfully demilitarized Ukraine
Ukraine : Ayo check out the new drip
they demilitarized the old soviet shite... you know I'm starting to think Putin is a CIA agent with how much he screwed russia over
Good to hear that the Dutch support is appreciated and doing its job. Slava Ukraini.
Excellent video!
Thank you very much!
1:32 The suppressor is actually a B&T Rotex 556, not a Surefire.
Yep thanks, corrected in the accompanying article.
dudes at 6:50 don't need any any HKs with those guns 👀
Yeah, they already have the best in the world.
Yeah, that was quite impressive!
I've seen a few SpecOps with a very wiry (but still defined) build, but the majority seems to be buff.
I'd say a lot of these guys have been doing this since the 2014 cookoff. If they haven't, they were probably trained by those career soldiers.
Add to that foreign fighters that have SOF experience are most likely going to end up doing the same roles there.
The results? You get pipe hitters.
Before watching the video I thought that theres no way any country gave Ukraine new Hk416s with their price tag.
I mean it's overall riffle designed in 2005. Probably used before being sent too.
In my country (neighbour of UA) HK 416 is 100€ cheaper than Daniel Defense
@@michalbarsfajny4268 Fair point but I think that Daniel Defense rifles would be cheaper if it didn't need to travel such a far distance to your country (Poland I assume).
That moment in the video at approx 538-540 is not a Surefire muzzle device. Maybe a dead air flash hider.
can you do a video on the ak 5c?
Are they using m855/ss109? Any info if they are gettin any m855a1 or other loads limited to military use?
Definitely some A1 there too. They're getting NATO spec ammo from quite a few NATO countries by the look of it.
Minute 1.47 you talk about the Socom suppressor. In fact, it is a B&T Rotex v I think!
You could be right! Thanks for watching.
hk416?! Where MSBS Grot?
GROT coming!
Seeing a lot of SIG 516's as well
A ton. And a ton of Daniel Defense.
Looking forward to the 417 video
doees anybody have a link to the clip at 0:23 ? it seems so intense
There isn't much more to it to be honest. Search polish volunteer trench clearing. Should come up.
Did Hk perfect the Colt M4A1/Stoner AR platform with this rifle? Input is appreciated.
Perfect? No. It’s got both pros and cons.
Not perfect but Improved 416 is the ak47 of ar platform it runs were other ar types fail
@@darylobey8867 I would say it is inappropriate to compare with AK; there are more reliable platforms than AK if we talk about reliability in general as one of the key values in a weapon. Kalashnikov is rather promoted with propaganda, but in reality it is a mediocre platform.
Hell yeah, thanks!
Imagine being in that trench with nowhere to run knowing you’re about to be riddled with bullets.
It’s a B&T Rotex. Not a Surefire 😊
Good info
3:57 ok so I'm guessing this might be a dumb question, but can anyone tell me why Ukraine's GUR logo shows a map with Russia highlighted instead of Ukraine? Is this a leftover from the USSR/GRU origins of the organization? Or is that "highlight" meant to be more of a "black-out" meant as a sign of enmity?
While I don't know for sure, I think the owl ramming the sword into Russia is ... quite telling. That and the Owl as a choice of mascot, being the hunter of the Bat that the Russians like to use.
Enjoy your day! :)
Thats not a Surefire Socom Suppressor, thats a B&T Rotex V Compact for HK A2 Comp
Indeed it is. Correct in the pined comment. Thanks for watching
Those 416s r heavy! With the harris, lpvo, and suppressor, it probably weighs close to an rpk! Close to an IAR m27
There were no surefire flash hiders, one was a dead air, 3prong, the suppressor was b&t in the image where u said it has a surefire suppressor. Sorry to be a parts snob lol, I had to say something. Love your vids. If you look closer on the suppressor it is the b&t with the smooth unlock wring surefire has a much different locking ring. One the image of the hk416 with 3 prong if you look at it you will see thats it’s far from a surefire lol, it’s a dead air flash hider/ suppressor adapter.
Ohh one of their Keymos, I forgot about those! Thanks
can you also compare how they fared in combat
Could be that the 416 is swapped for the sig Sauer spear (lt) so maybe that’s why the 416 it’s sold, given away and used
A2s were replaced by A5s in Dutch service so these are probably from storage.
Very unlikely.
Good Lord! FNC’s?!? Didn’t expect that!
The suppressor at 1:40 apears to be a B&T Rotex V
Thanks, have added a correction to the accompanying article!
These are very early HK416 models, they can be confused with the M4 carbine
very interesting
It's cool to see our suppressors for the weapons of tough guys who defend our Motherland! Thanks for the informative video
Ahh cool, thanks guys! Must be challenging manufacturing suppressors during wartime.
I just can't stop wondering how many Branch dudes are running around over there.
Shhh
1:43 that’s a holosun 515, not a Romeo 4t
Ohh could be! Thanks
Norway here, my personal meaning regarding this weapon(as its currently being phazed into our army)
Is that it cant compete with the old standard A3G3 in real combat. 7.62x51 needs 80 cm of sandbag to get...sandbagged😂😂
5.56 has held its own in combat for decades.
@@baneofbanes So did 7.62x51 😂😂😂
In Norway, the juridical limitations of air-guns are set by caliber, and the licensed weapons start from .22 (equals 5.5 mm)
We have been using the G3-frame so much in the military that .22 or 5.56 isnt very impressive.
The galaxies of diff.7.62 -rounds packs ALOT of power!
Its a shame that 5.56 took over the NATOstandard😞
god I love this gun
The Ukrainian SOF member with the 416A5 standing between two dudes has a B&T suppressor (looks like a rotex series) and not the surefire socom 556 rc. The guy that you also claimed to have a surefire muzzle device is also inaccurate, its probably from a European suppressor manufacturer.
Thank you, think you're right! Someone suggested Dead Air Keymo for the flash hider.
You just know that Team grew up on Battlefield together 😂
Impressed to see that AK74u, really. Can't be too many of those about the place, either?
its not a rare gun. they're very common out there.

I've got a follow up video on FALs in the works, looking at their origins and examples of use.
Cant wait! My favorite rifle. EVER! lol. Thanks!
I think it should become the standard infantry weapons for the elite forces and marines
No, first standard in norwegian army, then french army, followed by the german Bundeswehr. Elite forces may choose what they want...
Are there any noveske n4s being used in ukraine?
Not seen any myself but there could be.
7:31 the good old Heckler and Coke.
I dont know what is happening but my comment just evaporates when I add a link to the photo I will mention in a minute, nontheless. The guy in 3:37 is not Ukranian but Polish JWK member.
TH-cam doesn't like links. They likely grabbed a suitable 'operator' photo off the internet then! I'll add a note in the accompanying article.
That's all fun and all but when will the HK G11 pop up in Ukraine?
If it does I hope they watch my video on how it's field stripped haha
Seems the Dutch are taking their revenge on the Russians for the downed plane serious. Very good.
So in the future ww3, pros and volunteers would know what rifle to choose.
I am in Ukraine currently and I have an HK416 as well as my teammates
What do you guys think of them?
@TheArmourersBench I fought hard to change out my issued Grot and get the HK. I've been using AR15's the last 10 years so I was eager to operate my prefered platform. Also, the attachments and ergonomics I brought from home I wanted to use on it. It works phenomenally. Less gas. Nice and light compared to other 5.56 rifles we have here.
A2 or A3?
i saw on twitter post a rare machine gun in ukraine the m60( i saw a vietnam era variant of m60 no modified) mounted in a vehicle sad i never see that post tweet again that is a old post around 2022
Very interesting, definitely haven't seen that

It's now used by the French Armed Forces replacing their FAMAS rifle.
The Dutch Commando's use the HK416A5. They literally got hundreds of them. It's reasonable to think they send a bunch of them to their SOF brothers in Ukraine.
Considering we trained their SOF and Naval SOF.
Yes! they seem to have largely replaced their earlier 416s with A5s.
im happy that qaulity rifles are in arms with ukraine god speed hua
The Netherlands has been a great supporter! Thanks, Netherlands!
Only downside of this rifle is it's weight and I guess in the context of this war ammo ability. I'm the only one in my Platoon using 5.45 and in the field I've never run out of ammo.
I am constantly wondering about logistics in the field. I'd love to talk to some UA logistics guys.
@@TheArmourersBench In the field its all about the loot game, people always scanning for useful junk safe to pick up for example. On one assault all the guys except me had 416A2s, M4s with M16 lowers and a 3rd of them made it out with trophy AKs that they had been using to hold security. Many of the guys went through most of their mags during the Assault and relief didn't have their shit together so we had to wait for almost any extra day with very limited food and water. Was just so damm hot that day. I started that mission with 15 mags and 4 grenades and left with 20 magazines and had replenish all the grenades I used on the fox holes with RGD-5s "donated" by the Orcs
Was kinda funny because I was quite conservative with my ammo because I was expecting counter attacks but my PL was very trigger happy with a AK he found when we had to fend off the next Orc rotation(we took their positions so fast the next rotation didn't know) He use more of my mags than I did
Ukraine logistics in general are awful, the wheels of bureaucracy turn very very slowly due to an outdated system that I'm told has not transitioned to the digital erra and corruption. If it's not something that goes down range your likely gonna have to pay for it yourselves e.g most food, fuel, Vic repairs, cleaning kits, ear, eye pro, decent uniform, magazines, heating, plumbing, gas etc
You get give a very basic low quality kit that usually falls apart and then they try and charge your for it unless you can do a mountain of paperwork for every individual peace so by about 6 months in most of your kit will be bought at shops or online
Life is great, living the dream 😆
In your earlier videos, you reported that Canada had sent its C9 Minimi LMGs to Ukraine but you have yet to find visual evidence of their use by Ukrainian soldiers. Recently, a May 3, 2023 TH-cam video by Ukraine's 3rd Separate Assault Brigade fighting outside Bakhmut featured Ukrainian soldiers carrying and using FN Minimi / C9 / M249 LMGs alongside theirs AKs, PKMs, and NATO assault rifles. One notable shot even showed a Ukrainian soldier handling a Para model of the FN Minimi / C9 / M249.
