    If it's really cold in the back, as in 40 degrees or less, bacteria and mold won't grow as fast. What happens is your food is drying out faster. The result is you are making dehydrated fruit vs allowing a moist environment for mold.

      chyndb I get the same thing. I found out the supermarkets, here in Australia, freeze them especially during the times when strawb's aren't in season. So now I buy them and freeze them straightaway, unless they're going to be used that day.

    The instructions that came with my NB say to use water to the line on the cup. Both the large and small cups have that line on them. Make sure not to put too much solids in mix so there is air-space at top when grinding - otherwise the pressure build-up blows ingredients through the shaft seals into the base which causes the shaft bearings to wear out. Just saying...

    Chemical engineer here. Your fruit isn't molding because mold requires several things to grow: moisture, heat, and carbon dioxide. It does not require sunlight, which is one of many things that separates it from "plants". Your fruit also most likely has been treated with a chemical to help inhibit mold growth. This is because unlike it old times, fruits/veggies are not shuttled many miles often to market. They have to be able to fight off mold long enough to look good in the supermarket produce section. That said, if you feel you want a more 'organic' fruit/vegetable, get some fruit/vegetable wash spray and spray and clean your items. Then leave them on the counter instead of the fridge. You'll be sprouting mold in a few good hot/humid days. The idea that genetically modified fruit or veggies is somehow worse for you is just paranoia. ALL fruit/vegetables are modified genetically...waaaay before chemicals were widely used. Bananas have been grown to no longer come in what some estimate to once be over 100 varieties. Most varieties have been grown/farmed in a way as to provide the quickest growth and most yield. We're lucky to be in a society where some basic chemicals allow us to eat whichever we choose any time of year. When people buy "organic" they're basically overpaying for the same fruits and veggies minus all the great, washable chemicals that protect the item until it can be cleaned for consumption. Most people who jump on the bandwagon of "toxins" and "poisons" coming out of your body, turn around and put on makeup, hold a lithium battery powered smartphone inches from their ear canal, and then hop in their chemically driven automobile.

    • @PoeLemic
      @PoeLemic 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you. I'm glad you spoke up. I grew up on the Farm and I appreciate & used chemicals during every growing season. It's the way to have the best vegetables with the least amount of spoilage. Awesome you said what I was thinking. And, I know my stuff from real world experience.

      My son has a major allergic reaction to non organic strawberries and some other fruits , likely due to pesticides . He can eat pounds of Organic Strawberries without any problems. That is just one of the many problems with mass produced fruits and GMO's , it's not paranoia !!

    • @danielcortezzzz
      @danielcortezzzz 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A Brave Bird Saved actually organic fruit and veg uses more pesticide treatments than GMO seed produce, the reason is that the genetically modidfied variety have genetic adaptations to resist harmful pests destroying the produce, one of the many reasons GMO foods help farmers all around the world.

    spin your blades by hand, if it doesn't spin freely its your blade unit ceasing up and not your motor. another indication of this is if your unit is a lot louder then its ever been. this is an easy fix if you have the blade system with the 3 screws on the bottom

    1 reason they might not be molding is your frige might be too cold so bacteria isnt growing thus no mold. i personally haven't seen any strawberries that go a month with no mold unless they are border line frozen or frozen. when i a buy them and i have a lot i tend to freeze them they can last months without going bad in the freezer.
    you don't necessarily need to add water. from exp water makes fruit lose lot of it's taste. you can add juice to it like carrot juice can be mixed with orange juice and it taste really good or cram berry juice also work with many other fruits unless you like water bland texture.

    Hello:
    I had the regular NutriBullet, but now I oqn the NutriBullet 900 PRO...an AMAZING machine with the power (comes with a LOT of extras). On your problem of ''seeding''...found a way to conquer that...if you look closely at the blades (each single blade in each chopper), AND very carefully feel the ''edge'' (sharp part) you will notice that the blades have NO real sharp edge. It is just (sharp?) enough to ''pulverize'' BUT not edgy enough to break down small or tiny seeds, only thr main stuff. Solution: get (or borrow) a Dremel with the small fine grinder attachment and VERY CAREFULLY sharpen each single blade (MUST be sharpened on the BOTTOM of the blade NOT on the top flat part). After using the grinder on each blade go over each blade with a small whetstone on the top of the blade (holding it flat against the flat part of the blade so to knock off any burr, if any) And then use it on the bottom of each blade on an angle with the beveled edge...when finished with the total job VERY CAREFULLY feel the ''edge'' of each blade beingcareful NOT to cut your self on the now ''SHARPENED'' blades. Hope that helped, as it did for my machine.
    Here is a BIG secret on certain foods...(1) If using apples (any kind) be sure you remove the stem AND ESPECIALLY the seeds, as they are bad for you...they contain cyanide in some form or other, and WILL make you deadly sick, or worse. There are one or two others fruits that have the same thing. (2) On almost ALL fruits and veggies it is BEST to use ALL of the item (except the stem) and you can by washing and/or scraping the outside before use (LOVE BEETS, also bananas WITH the skins on (VERY nutritional)). (3) Last...people throw avocado seeds away, BUT should not. Set them aside on a shelf on a saucer, or plate, and let them dry out. The seeds are actually a thin shell with the actual seed inside. when dry enough crumble the ''shell' off of the ''pit'' and set the soft ''pit'' aside and let them completely dry out (or carefully roast all the soft ''pits'' until dry and hard. Use your NutriBullet to 'MILL' the hardened, dry pits into a fine powder...can then be measured into your NutriBlasts for extra nutrition benefits (go on internet and Google 'Avocado Seeds, Nutrional Values)
    Just a ''little'' help for you, and the public.

    I've been using my Nutribullet for well over a year. I do use ORGANIC fruits and vegetables for the reasons that you spoke of in your video. I do use raspberries, strawberries and blackberries in my Nutribullet and when I first noticed the seediness, I began to let the Nutribullet blend and pulverize just a few mins longer and that solved my seediness problem. Great presentation. Remain Healthy!!!

    In the place of water (tap or filtered) in the Nutribullet I have used pure fruit juices (Black Cherry, Apple [notice the Max fill line]) along with a small amount of Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar & some Pure Raw Honey for added taste. I have also rinsed all of the parts with a few ounces of filtered water and drank the remains to get more of the nutrients before washing them down the drain with tap water. Another point is that it is helpful to run the motor only about 10 seconds at a time, remove from the base and shake it a little and then run it another 10 seconds.

    I LOVE kiwi. Didn't have any organic at the store last year so I bought the regular ones (I really wanted my kiwi!). To ripen them up I put them in a bag with a banana and checked after a few days. Kiwi was still hard as a rock but the organic banana was done so I took it out and added another one. This continued for a couple of months. Couldn't believe it, the kiwi never ripened. Kept them on my counter for months just to see if they would ripen. Not only did they not ripen but I never got fruit flies from this fruit sitting open on my counter for months. Anyway, did a little research and you would not believe what they are doing to our produce now! Anyway, thanks for the video. Just got a nutriblast and the seal is leaking from day one, looking for a fix is how I stumbled onto this adorable guy:)

    Great review. I smelled something faintly burning mechanical wise and saw a hint of smoke coming out the vent. Since less water is out of the question I used is yogurt(Preferably Organic soy yogurt or yogurt that's LGG active). Start off with 1 to 3 tablespoons. If it's still not thick enough after it's mixed down just add alittle more and blend for 10 secs. Still not enough keep adding. Start out at first with just a little if your not sure.

    You're right about using water and not overloading. As far as the noise, I found that the reason these things are so loud and get louder over time is because of wear in the blade bearing. If you spin the blade by hand and then compare it to the milling blade (if you haven't been using it) you'll see what I mean. The Blade has been redesigned and reinforced, probably with a stronger bearing, on nutribullets that are shipping out now.

  • @arizonaslotwins1414
    @arizonaslotwins1414 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    This video gives some good advice! Don't overload your NutrBullet. It will get noisy and the blade will loosen up and leak. I demo the NutriBullet on my channel. Feel free to come by and check it out. I load it pretty full, but most of the load is broken up instantly and in the end it is below the fill line. All of the problems people have with leaking is tied to overloading and/or using the wrong blades, or just expecting this 99 dollar unit to act like a top end blender which it is not.

    I work in a produce department at a grocery store and while strawberries are the most treated/modified fruit there is, they do indeed mold (I've had cases come in from distribution centers already covered in mold! They often need to be broken/cut to do so, else they just slowly dry out. Real strawberries are extremely small comparably as well! And keep those raspberries! They have more fiber than a crap ton of bread in them!

I hope yours isn't doing it too though. To check, just add a little water in the cup and power it for about 10 secs and check if its slightly brown or discolored. Just because it has been in your fridge for a couple weeks doesn't mean it isn't natural. For all you know, you got the fruit at a good time that it just got to the supermarket after it was picked. This fruit can last weeks without molding and also depends on how good they washed them. Fruit that molds doesn't essentially tell you it is bad, it just means it grew spores on the outer layer and can be washed off and eaten still as long as the fruit is not soggy and the mold hasn't penetrated the inner layer of the fruit. I have picked apples and have lasted months without going bad and I have gotten organic apples at the supermarket that go bad within a couple weeks. It just depends of when the supermarket gets them. If you were to get fruit from a farmers market, you will see that fruit will last a lot longer because it was just picked fresh and its aging process just began. So your supermarket sounds like it is bad at rotation because you are getting the newer stuff first, which i guess is a good thing haha.

    Fruit and vegies will last alot longer in a refrigerator because of the reduced levels of o2 in a sealed chiller.. its similar to controlled atmosphere (CA) storage where o2 is basically sucked out of the room, and fruit can last for many many mnths because it's not reacting. Upon saying that tho, there's alot to be said about going organic

    Very good point about the Organic fruit, I caught on to that a while ago. If it can't rot or mould up how is your body supposed to process it!!

  • @rhysroberts8972

    dried up fruit is unlikely to mold because mold needs moisture to grow, thats why the dry fruit in your fridge is not molding. organic is not as great as you think, its still sprayed with herbicides and pesticides so im told by a farmer who grows organic. We have been genetically modifying crops for 100's of years just look at broccoli, sprouts, cabbage etc. try to understand the science before you start hating it just because you dont understand it.

    If you don't keep your strawberries in the vegie/fruit drawer and if they are dry when the go in, it is possible they won't mold, even if they were organic. The cold air of the fridge desiccates (dries out) the fruit. Want to see them mold? Wash them and then put them in the fridge in an air-tight container and forget them.

    I received a Nutribullet for Christmas and I'm so excited! Excellent advice about the strawberries. I hadn't noticed that they no longer mold. I love strawberries, so I usually consume them within a couple of days. But you're right... if they don't mold there's a problem. I'll start looking for fresh organic strawberries. Costco sells a large bag of organic mixed berries that I buy during the winter. Nothing pisses me off more that GMOs! At this point, it's not a question of IF they are trying to poison us but WHY. Something to think about...

    Should add liquid to the max line as required. I bought my nutribullet 600 watt in 2010 use it 4 to 5 days a week no problems in 8 years. I blend for a few seconds like 30 or so then I shake the container then blend to the consistency I like. It has never taken more than a minute or two. Thinking of buying a new one but my old is hanging I there just fine.

    I go to the farmers market each week for my fruits and veggies. Because I know my berries will go bad because they are fresh from the farm. I tend to take them home, wash them and freeze them. I'll prep/cut/chop certain fruits and veggies and freeze them so that I can have fresh food at all times. You may want to invest in a freezer. OMG, one of the best purchases I've made.

    Good tip on the motor. I' have been thinking about getting a Nurtibullet. I use my Magicbullet several times a day. Does the Nutribullet have rubber on the bottom of the blade? I've had to replace my blade several time because I found out I had to wait for a few seconds after the motor stops because it chews up the rubber at the bottom if you lift it up too soon.

    • @ONTHERADAR1
      @ONTHERADAR1  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      No there is no rubber on the bottom of the blade. The problem with this blade is over time it gets loose but you can re order a spare for cheap.

    The motor is not failing, the bearing lubricant is being burnt because of the excessive heat buildup from the shaft to bearing spin under a no-load situation (without water). In other words, since the shaft is not pressed into the bearing, the shaft is spinning within the bearing on a non lubricated surface causing the heat build up and subsequent leakage of lubricant. Although the street price of the bearing is $1.49, it is rated at 35000 rpm. Interestingly, the last replacement that I received showed that the shaft was lubricated by the factory, a wrong approach. You should check to see if you are getting burnt lubricant into the contents by running clear water for 30 seconds.
    A simple fix would be to remove the blade/shaft from the bearing, score the shaft with water pump pliers and force (press) it back into the bearing. If you apply a lot of force, make sure that you support the bearing. This should stop the shaft-to-bearing spin and heat built up.

I am making shakes with SLM smart protein and fruits and vegetables and it is working extremely well. I am now like a little child with the christ mass presents, having a lot of fun making shakes and smoothies for my family and friends :-) Best regards from Iceland.

    I've had the exact opposite experience since I've started buying organic. I buy both organic and traditional and by far, the organic fruits and veggies have a longer shelf life as far as refrigerated items go. I've also noticed this for dairy, as I buy regular 2% for myself and Organic whole for my wife and to cook with (because organic milk and organic food in general taste richer and better which is why I buy it at all). The regular stuff is sour on the expiration date and sometimes slightly before while the organic last 4 to 5 days past the posted date. The milk is the most revealing sense fat is what generally turns sour first and seeing as the whole milk has more of it, you'd expect it to sour faster. Maybe you just have a really good refrigerator.

    I blend spinach, kale and parsley, then put to the side. Then I take guava, mango, banana, apple and berries and chop them up with a knife. I take 30 baggies and scoop the greens in each baggy then a scoop of the chopped fruits and throw in the freezer. Then I grind flax seed, chia seed, wheat bran, raw almond and sunflower seeds and freeze that. Pull one mix, add seed blend, kefir yogurt, juice and N.O. explode and BAM! Best smoothie EVER!

    Just a few comments. First, you get what you pay for. The Nutribullet and others brands like it are little more than toys. They don't work correctly and won't last. Invest in a REAL blender like a Vitamix or Brendtek. They have 3 horse power motors and develop over 25,000 RPM and they break the seeds so they are incorporated into the smoothie or whatever you're making. In the long run you'll be better off rather than buying a new toy blender every other year and both the makes I mentioned come with a 7-8 year warranty. The fact is a "good" blender costs at least $350. Less than that your blender with have a little wimpy motor that will fail quickly especially if you do a lot of things with ice or try to make nut butters and other thicker, drier stuff.
    There's a right way and wrong way to use a blender. Sort of a protocol that you MUST follow otherwise it won't work right. Never overfill. Especially the toy versions. Always put wet ingredients in the bottom first, then more solid foods and finally ice at the top if you're adding that.
    Rather than using ice, put some skim or almond milk in your ice cube tray freeze and pop those in place of ice. It won't water down the drink and it makes it richer and smoother and only adds a handful of calories, plus you get the benefit of protein.

    What you use to wash your fruits and veggies is as important as the organic matter they are grown in. Check Environmental Working Group for how the nations water has really suffered. The water filter one uses is very important. I would suggest one for any household in this country.
    BTW, a liquid is always good. When steaming veggies, save the the water for your liquids.

    Yeah im a guy, it takes us a while to read directions lol The farmers market is supposed to be organic and some stuff in the grocery store say organic but is really not. Its something that I need to start doing. Its time consuming but its for our health
