      @@okraw You talk too much and repeat things and when you don't repeat things, you are saying them in the longest way possible and with a lot of unnecessary words. As a professional trainer I'm telling you please don't do that. Make your "real meat" a bit leaner. :)

    This is my second Magic bullet, and I have to admit that for the price it delivers really well th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCKuMxLnvr6fJd_M4SE-n7trcGj3zEUHq Considering that there are other products twice and even four times more expensive, I think that for one person this is just right. The only problem is that you have to make sure that your vegetables and ice are cut into small pieces because it won't chop and blend well. I made the mistake of putting whole baby carrots with a cup of mixed greens, and it wasn't pretty.. Also be careful not to overfill it, because it will overflow. As long as you follow the manufacturer's instructions for use, you should be happy with this purchase.

    Hi John. LOVE your channels! I'm a scientist and can tell you that oxidation can also be significantly reduced if you add fresh lime or lemon juice before blending.

      Zedo they have the cure for cancer, they just dont want to share it because everyone is getting rich off people dying. its like chemo, they dont need to use it but it makes them tons of money. Do your research, it will break your heart. Especially when you see wee children dying because of greed. We wouldnt have cancer if they didnt put poisons in our water, air, and food. Perhaps you could become an honest scientist that goes into politics. Oh and there is not global warming. Find the trail the money leaves and you will find the greedy people lying to America and the world.

    Hey John. You could probably glue on some little "legs" to the bottom of your cup that are a little longer than the cork (when inserted into the cup) so that you can set the cup upright without it tipping.
    This was a great video by the way. I never thought about this issue of oxidation before. And I really appreciate that you've continued all these years in letting God use you in such a loving way to share with others the gifts He's given to you.

    Great idea. Tried it out on my Nutri Ninja 24 oz cup. Installed the vacuum valve and used the hand pump. Worked great. Next I disassembled the hand pump and attached to my Foodsaver FreshSaver Handheld Vacuum Sealing System electric pump. Pushed the button on the pump and it worked just as well as the original hand pump, but now no manual pumping. Thanks for sharing!

    Relax. As a practising nutritionist I can say with confidence that you should blend and consume immediately. Minimal loss of nutrients due to oxidation.
    The nutri bullet and all the other clones on the market are not designed for long term storage. Just as when you cut an apple, you don't let it sit on a plate until it goes brown. If you're really concerned, you should just add a bit of fresh lemon, lime or other citrus juice or pieces to the mix.

    Also, pro tip, to avoid such heavy oxidation in a vitamix or other high speed blender, blend on high just enough to get the ingredients fully broken down and incorporated into the mixture (10 seconds or so) then finish out the blend on just enough power to keep the mixture churning so it's pulling the liquid down into the blades for about 40 seconds. At this speed the blender will still do a good enough job of pulverizing the contents but will not be as violent and over blended. Produces a final product that's much less foamy and more smooth and creamy. Which helps with this over oxidation problem that's trending so big right now.

  • @frankc4862
    @frankc4862 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    These blenders are notorious for leaking grease and bearings breaking down. With the vacuum in the cup all you're doing is sucking up some grease into your blend. Eventually you'll have grease, rust and some metal flakes in your smoothies. This won't happen right away but I guarantee it eventually will. My blades were leaking from normal wear and its happened several times over the years. I like this blender but recently ive decided to purchase a different one for that same reason. This blender isnt designed for vacuum blending so just be careful 🤷.

    Here is a suggestion:
    1) Coat your ceramic knife will coconut oil. . Chop all fresh and frozen solid ingredients down to 1” pieces. . Place in a large, shallow glass bowl.
    2) Squeeze a 200iu or 400iu capsule of *natural* vitamin E into: . (1/4 cup of citrus juice + 1/4 cup water). . Stir/shake very well.
    3) Spray plenty of that solution all over the chopped pieces.
    4) Add all smoothie ingredients into the vacuum-capable blender cup.
    5) Pump out the air [Use a “reversed” bicycle floor pump - 10 full strokes will accomplish a lot.]
    6) Blend for about 1/3 of total blending time.
    7) Then wait 2 minutes and pump out the air a second time. ***Because a little more air will have been released from the partially-blended mix.***
    8) Blend for another 1/3 of the total blending time.
    9) Then wait 2 minutes and pump out the air a third time. ***ditto***
    10) Blend for the final 1/3 of the total blending time.
    11) Then wait 2 minutes and pump out the air for the last time. ***ditto***
    12) Wait 2 more minutes.
    Either store in fridge for consumption at a later time, or …
    Pour into a real (not a plastic!) glass, and sip until it’s gone.

    for top loading blenders just place a stiff plastic disk on the top of the juice and it will stop the vortex from forming.

    • @heliocentric9971
      @heliocentric9971 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For most blender pitchers you will want a plastic square rather than a disc.
      And it should have a low density to keep it very buoyant and floating, and not be drawn downwards toward the blades.

    21:35 That smoothie is all sugar. I don't understand. If you use a juicer they say it spikes blood sugar too much, but with a juicer you can just stick green veggies in there and the juice will come out tasting great. With blender you have to put tons of fruit in with the greens just to make it drinkable. Wouldn't all that fruit in the smoothie spike blood sugar even more than a juice with only veggies?

    Thank you for the simple vacuum method, John. I am so aware of the oxidisation of my smoothies and of how much air I am swallowing with each one I drink because I feel bloated and uncomfortable afterwards plus my blueberry (for instance) smoothies go brown very fast and don't stay purple because of instant oxidisation. Ever since you showed us the Kuvings vacuum blender I have really wanted one! Also, an idea, couldn't the vacuum be pumped once again after the blending to get more air out? I would do that. I have a nutribullet but have not used it for a couple years since i bought my large high-speed blender.

    Instead of sucking air out, fill the glass all the way to the top with liquid. Then there is no air in it at all.
    I like to see you make the comparison again with 0 % air in the glass.
    Just bear in mind that the glass is overfilled when you take off the part with the blades.

    • @robertoi.2072
      @robertoi.2072 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Christian S That would be impossible with the nutribullet, it has a max line limit for liquids, if you go over the line the liquid spills out from between the blades and the glass

    • @okraw

      It a fully sealed blender as I show in the video:
      th-cam.com/video/E906Y4DNtEc/w-d-xo.html
      with as much air removed as possible, it DOES reduce the oxidation. That being said, this is for "sealed" blenders, most blenders are not sealed. Furthermore, non-sealed blenders should not be run "totally full" as there will be too much pressure in there. That being said, Sucking out EXCESS air (under vacuum) is the best of all, from my testing.

      I watched the video now. Yea, that is the solution. I tried it with some random suction lid that was sitting in the kitchen waiting for a purpose. That received a hole though when pushing it into the Vitamix glass.

    For the cork piece, is it washable or use and toss? What will happen if you leave the suction piece in and just twist the lid off?

    • @okraw
      @okraw  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Washable and Reusable.
      If you leave the suction in place and twist off:
      1. due to vacuum in chamber it will be hard to spin off
      2. the valve will get all "messy" and will need to be washed, and it may fail due to crud in there.
      3. provided the drill hole was precise, the valve will stay in so it shouldnt leak.

    Very clever hack. It's one of my greatest pet peeves however seeing someone take the time to make a nutritious green juice or smoothie then walk around with it all day! I bet if they were freshly baked cookies they wouldn't get oxidized ;)

    The Bartelli vacuum pump and sealer valves are no longer available on Amazon and they don't know when it will be back. So I think I'll get a wine bottle pump with its vac valves. Looks like I'll have to drill a bigger hole in the nutribullet. Does anyone know what the diameter of the opening is on a standard wine bottle?

  • @alsmith8633

    Question : the air pump Valves are no longer available to purchase. Is there another brand you could recommend to buy the valves from? The same size that will fit the drill bit you recommended. Thanks!

    John as A thought what about filling the blender to the top with water so that there is not any air. Then it can not oxidise ?

  • @StarFlower99654
    @StarFlower99654 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wouldnt the same thing apply if you filled the blender cup full with liquid like water with your fruit & veg (like you arent supposed to do) It would then remove all the air due to being displaced by the liquid. I stopped using my vitamix so much and now use my nutribullet for everything. Thinking of selling the vitamix. It is just so hard to get the stuff scraped out of it and clean it due to the one piece pitcher.

      Anyhow the amount of nutrients lost would be minuscule. Unless, of course, you believe the "research" put out by the very same people who are selling you a $500 vacuume blender.
