What cracks me up is that here's this incredibly competent 13 or so yo young lady and she's completely comfortable taking control of a duet with one of the world's most renowned musicians. I'm 65 and I get butterflies playing a duet with my grandson. I sense that the brass Markey will not be the only one to play with the BSO (unless young Ms Markey decides to become a scientist, doctor, explorer, master of industry, etc. - undoubtedly has the world at her fingertips). BTW, is there anything in the world better than playing duets with your offspring, or in my case, having played with 4 off-springs, now doing duets with the next generation as well. Wonderful video! Well done!
My 2 cents - Support Music Education! It is important no matter who your father is. My folks bought me a trombone in the 60's but I let it go after HS (which I regret). Then my son started on it in Elementary and now he just finished sophomore year with Music Ed major. Pass it on! Music makes us human.
OK... just saw this duet playing at Jordan Hall in Boston. Holy Crud!!!!!!!!!!!! As unbelievable as Mr Markey is (my jaw hasn't undropped yet after listening to "Fly or Die") as a duet they're as good. Young Ms Markey has the same ridiculous intonation and expression as dad. I'm not lying or sucking up. (I didn't even wait to kiss butt after the concert). This young person could play at dad's level if that's her career choice. Best part? How much they enjoy the performance, including a complicated high 5, high 5, low 5, low 5, then I lost track. I was there for the trombone playing, but I couldn't get home to tell my wife about the duet. What a great recital! Wish Carrie could've come - feels weird sitting there by myself - been a long time.
PHENOMENAL MAN!!!! I'm getting ready to Audition for the Conservatories this year and I always get inspired and have a drive to work harder knowing that there are younger musicians working and playing on such a high level. Keep it up, both of you, truly awesome!
