I think you’ll really like BTS once you dive into their more introspective songs. They did a whole album series based on Carl Jung’s Map of the Soul. And before that, there was the Love Yourself series. Their lyrics and messages are a big reason for why most people became their fans in the first place.

FYI they did incorporate the American Sign Language into their choreo. Normally their choreo are very hard for ordinary people to copy and dance to but this time they made it so easy so that the people of all ages race etc can dance too even using the sign language for people with disability like hearing impaired can dance too as you don't need permission to dance.

People are misleading the audience, fact is there is NO international sign language for the death, each country has its own sign language it developed organically. English speaking countries for example, has three varieties: American Sign Language (ASL), British Sign Language (BSL) and Australian Sign Language (Auslan). The sign language used in PTD is the American version. My daughter studied Auslan, please don't spread non factual information.

You will love BTS if you dig in deeper, I promise! To start with, I suggest you watch a live performance of BTS Magic Shop or Answer:Love Myself with English subtitles. I have seen a lot of health professionals use these songs in their therapy because of the messages. One of BTS strongest advocacy is mental health awareness. They have a LOT of songs talking about their own experiences with mental health, their philosophies and their current state of mind. The guys mostly write their songs themselves (esp those written in Korean, Permission to Dance’s main writer is Ed Sheeran) so they always talk about their art in depth as well as their experiences with the subjects their songs are talking about. Their 3 English songs (which they mostly did not write) are all pop happy tunes because they just wanted to make people smile and give hope during this pandemic.

BTS should be required listening for all mental health professionals. I play them for my third graders daily and they love it. The majority of their songs cover topics about mental health and loving yourself. Their last (Korean) album, BE, was all about coping during the pandemic. One can’t help smiling when listening to BTS.

Hi, new sub here 👋 I strongly second Susan's comment 🙋‍♀️! BTS has brought me back to life, and they make managing my MDD and mod-severe GAD sooooo much more fun. The 3 moves highlighted in the chorus choreography integrate the International Sign gestures for “Enjoy,” “Dance,” and “Peace" (performed in that order). I mean... Who does that? Thankfully, BTS does! I believe it's a continuation of the message of comfort and hope that they have striven tirelessly to impart since their debut in 2013 and throughout the past 2 years - especially, from their 2020 summer smash “Dynamite” to their latest album, BE, and their 2021 chart-toppers “Butter” and “Permission to Dance.” Hand in hand with the joy and hope and optimism of “PTD,” though, comes another, quieter kind of comfort... the companionable promise that, despite our physical distance, we are all going through this together, and we WILL make it through. NAMASTE🙏 and welcome to the BTS Rabbit Hole! 💜 Fun fact: "PTD" was cowritten by Ed Sheeran 😀

  • @jcasa3646
    @jcasa3646 3 ปีที่แล้ว +186

BTS is definitely worth the journey. The song itself was "gifted" to BTS fans specifically to help uplift spirits because of mental health struggles relating to the pandemic. They even incorporated sign language into their choreo to include their hearing impaired/deaf fans who've also suffered greatly with isolation. But PTD is far from the first song that BTS has in their discography of 300-ish that address mental health issues...in fact, this is what they are known for by their global fans (ARMY). PTD is arguably the most lighthearted song, next to "Dynamite" (Grammy nominated), which they also wrote/released to lift spirits during the pandemic in 2020. As may have already been mentioned, the group is made up of 3 rappers (who are also the main songwriters for the group - albeit, Ed Sheeran is the main songwriter for PTD) and 4 vocalists...one of the rappers had expressed the depth of his own struggles w/ mental health via his rap lyrics early on in their career as a group (they debuted together about 8 years ago). And, as a group, they've always been active in their advocacy for mental health, particularly among youth (although their fan base is also multi-generational). With that, they maintain a partnership with UNICEF for their "Love Myself" campaign, promoting positive self-esteem and well-being in young people and children.
Although most BTS songs are written primarily in Korean (w/ English mixed in), they've released albums in Japanese and have performed with Spanish lyrics as well. Needless to say, their positive messages in Korean are, nonetheless, well received globally (effectively through the use of interpreters, Closed Caption/Eng subs). And as a result of their outreach - in addition to their obvious talents as artists - BTS have become the #1 band in the world, with the largest fan base in world... just look at the unprecedented number of views their videos receive. Prior to the pandemic, they were consistently selling out stadiums within minutes. For now, they keep doing their thing, even if it has to be done virtually.

BTS are usually compared more to artists like Michael Jackson for their performances and artistry etc and not kpop groups or boy bands.
It's their amazing performances, the fact tat they all are amazing multi talented artists, producers, dancers and songwriters and their deep moving lyrics with a great message that help people and unite the world (check out their Korean songs) and the fact that they are so humble and genuine that have made them the biggest group in the world with the most diverse fandom when it comes to age, ethnicity, sexuality, gender.
Their fandom called Army have a great number of charities and in other ways just like BTS donate money and help people and the environment.
The fandoms biggest age group are people in their 30's followed by people in their 20's and then teens and people who are 40+ plus kids.
I would recommend that you start by reacting to:
*"THIS IS BTS | Introduction to BTS" by xCeleste* and *"This is BTS ARMY | Introduction to BTS fans" also by xCeleste.*
They are only about 15 min each and you'll get lots of views if you react to those introductions BUT if you do read and pay attention and pause if you talk.
BTS members in order of age:
    1992 Jin vocalist
1993 Suga aka Agust D rapper
    1994 J-Hope rapper
    1994 RM rapper (+group leader)
    1995 Jimin vocalist
    1995 V vocalist
    1997 Jungkook aka JK vocalist
+If you didn't know BTS do not block reactions to their music videos so there is never any need to pause every 30 sec or cut reactions up, just do like you did and show the whole thing with the Big Hit intro.

This song along with ISL in the choreo also used purple ballons to signify the end of covid so when he was helping the child release covid he was helping the child as well as everyone release the stress and fear associated with this pandemic. Also when diving into the BTS Universe many people have talked about the songs that are uplifting and make you feel better songs like: Zero O'clock, Paradise, Magic Shop and especially Epiphany which tells us we must love ourselves first but it also deals with the flip side of that knowing that we can't always be happy with songs like: Blue and Gray, the Last, Reflection, Whalien 52 the sadness of covid, the depression of living on ones own, and being lonely and Tomorrow a song of their struggles of always hoping tomorrow would be better. But they also have songs of empowerment for the youth that feel like everyone is making plans for them and they have no say they wrote "No More Dream and N.O. For school kids trying to be in one sided relationships there is "Danger', and "What Am I To You". I could go on but this would become a letter. The point though is that BTS started writing not specifically to become world famous singers. They began to become a voice to and for young adults who felt silence by Korean society because of the conservative norms. They became famouse because it is not just in Korea.

**Hands alt ⬆️⬇️ on chest with thumbs up= joyful/happy
**✌downwards towards palm and swing wrist back and forth=💃🕺dancing 💃
    **✌upward = peace
    **walking fingers up arm=walk
**✌touch index finger to outer eye with middle finger pointing out.(not down like posing for pictures) Then pull from eye towards who you are looking 👀=
    I see you/I'm watching you
These are the ones sign language signs i saw immediately. I have some hearing loss and learned when I was young so I am glad to see BTS do something like this 💜
    Also
Every mv is completely different and live performances are even better. 😁💜
I advise to just watch and enjoy the first time through. That way you can enjoy the video and dance. Then turn on the cc on the second time through and enjoy the lyrics. Just know that most mvs have indepth meanings and if you need an explanation video those are available. The most trusted cites for those are DKDKTV and Bookish Theories.
To learn more about BTS in general and their history as well as ARMYS the best site to use as a resource is XCELESTE and she will point you to others who may have been created since. She is kind of a hub for BTS-know-all. If you have a question start there and if she doest already have a video for it she may know a trustworthy ARMY that does.💜
In their live performances: Their hair and position changes all the time so
To help you remember the members of BTS look at the colors of the mike. There are 3 rappers and 4 vocalists.
JIMIN: Gold or silvery lavender (lightest complexion of group and smallest, contemporary dancer, speaks good but not fluent English, Jap, Chinese and native Korean. high A-5 voice with a slight cry at the end. Proclaimed by teachers, "Most distinct voice of group." Has recently become a singer/song writer by writing his solo songs under RM'S teachings. He is one of the Vocalist)
RM: Light Blue or Silver (Leader of BTS and 1st member, only English fluent speaker with IQ 148, has sleepy eyes, very deep and distinct voice for a rapper. Rm started as an underground rapper and he has since started doing vocals as well. He Has written/produced 2 personal cd on side of BTS and wrote/assisted upto 170 songs with BTS.)
JIN: Pink has changed White 10/2020 returned to Pink or light green 01/2021(has full heart shaped lips, had no singing or dancing prior to joining BTS in 2013. He was scouted to be the visual of BTS and had become so much more. Has low notes like in "Dionysis" or high notes like the triple high note that is recognized by the Grammy Academy in "Crystal Snow". He loves to cook and care for the others and absolutely loves telling "Dad Jokes." He has a "winshield whiper like" laugh.🤣vocalist)
TAE/V: Green (deep voice square smile, loves the camera. Just like Jimin. Same age and Best Friends with Jimin due to going to 1st year high school and just graduated college together. vocalist loves the rappers parts and studys to be able to crossover.)
JEON JUNGKOOK (JK): Multi Pink/Blue=Purple or metallic purple 😘💜(tattoos on hand, main singer, vocalist that started rapping in the beginning of BTS. What "No More Dream" to see. Extremely close to Jimin and you will always see them together. They are both black belt Martial artists.
SUGA: Black or silver (aka AgustD, main rapper. He is an award winning writer/producer. Check out his cds "AgustD" and "D2" Also started as underground rapper prior to BTS. Was signed by BigHit to be a producer and was pulled into the group by being told there would be no to light dancing.🤣🤣🤣)
J-HOPE: Red or mint green(rapper and singer, dance leader of group, has longer face, considered 2nd leader and almost fluent in English, writer/producer of "Hope World." He learned how to rap once he joined BTS. But was an award winning street dancer for 10yrs prior to BTS.)
Hope this helps. Oh by the way their in-ears usually matches their mikes too😉💜Every mv is completely different and live performances are even better. 😁💜

Mental health wise, BTS are why I am still here. They picked me up out of a place that was very grim. And millions of us share that. Because of their music, they help us love ourselves and cherish who we are. Their mental health initiative is off the charts.

I'm only 34 seconds in, but I'm so excited for you to dive deeper into BTS, specifically as a mental health professional! Their music&lyrics have helped so many, & personally, among the things that they've helped me with, is that despite whatever pain I'm in(physically& mentally) their music *makes* me move(even when I just want to lie in my bed with the drapes closed and the covers over my head). I know ARMY is flooding you with helpful info and saying everything I want to tell you, so I look forward to your journey learning about these amazing young men. BTW, I'm 50 & became a fan on my own watching their videos, not because my kids introduced me to them. Highlight of my life was seeing them live in concert. Now back to your video😉

This song is a gift to fans and was preceded by a teaser. If you haven't seen the teaser-- it sort of set the theme/message. In the teaser one of the members is reading the newspaper. The newspaper headline reads 2022 COVID is over. Another article says (I'm paraphrasing) that the end of COVID will be announced by the release of purple balloons. (Purple is also the color of BTS/ARMY.

New sub from South Africa 🇿🇦 I’m a registered nurse, and I am dedicated Army - have been since 2015, their music has helped me heal when I have needed it, and as men, they are inspirational. They make me want to try harder, do better, and give more - which has been necessary motivation sometimes, especially as a nurse during this pandemic.
They only have three full English tracks, and they are all upbeat, fun songs - their Korean music is…different. I prefer it, but the English stuff is fun.
I’m here for your BTS journey, hope you enjoy it 🙏💜

3rd english song, purple balloons represent the end of covid, all 3 rappers sing in this song (which is cool), RM's hair is FABULOUS, they use international sign language which is special and the end scene includes all the staff who worked behind the scenes on the production, dancing which is a great touch. I'm more drawn to their edgier stuff and more thought provoking and artistic work. But this is a very inclusive and positive video and shares a positive message.

The last part was them dancing with the staff, like stylists, who worked on the MV. They sing about mental health issues a lot, “Blue & Grey,” written during the pandemic, Suga’s “The Last” is a very powerful song about his earlier deep struggles with depression, anxiety and OCD. I think this type of song helps people to feel less isolated in emotional pain. Of course they have many happy songs too.

Thank you for your reaction. After watching your reaction, I checked out your page and watched a few of your other videos. Thank you for talking about mental health; it is an important issue especially after the past 18 months. Kudos on following your passion (tiktok, social media). It had to be scary to let go of what was certain to a world of what ifs.
One of the things I love about the members of BTS is their openness about their mental health struggles. One example is the oldest member, Jin, released a song last December called "Abyss", about being in that dark place. Jin explained the struggles he was having when he wrote this song, and that he had to seek counseling. In Korea, like many places, people do not talk about depression, mental health, or getting counseling--the "just suck it up" attitude. The president of Korea commended Jin for seeking counseling and sharing his anxieties openly.
I noticed other ARMYs (BTS fans) have already told you about the Love Yourself albums, Map of the Soul albums (Jungian psychology--persona, shadow, ego). Their songs are mostly in Korean, but the MVs have subtitles. (Avoid the lyric videos, they frequently have a number of errors or mistranslations.)
