You should tell him that the majority of their 300+ song discography is mostly in Korean with some English sprinkled in, but it doesn't matter because the music is so darn good!
And they even have Japanese songs too.
Now you need to show him other BTS songs...just so he knows that they didn't start singing songs in English until recently. Show him more of their discography, so he gets a feel for them as a whole. :)

They've only had 3 fully english songs (Dynamite, Butter, and Permission To Dance) over the 8 years since they debuted out of the over 250 songs they have in their discography. I don't think it was inspired by Teletubbies but when BTS reacted to the mv for the first time RM said Teletubbies so they probably have seen it. Also keep in mind kpop is not a genre, it's more of an industry that encompasses so many genres. If you didn't know already BTS is releasing a remix of their song Butter featuring Megan Thee Stallion this Friday August 27th.
Well I'm BACKSTREET BOYS era and a huge fan of them(still have posters and albums) , now I'm 51 and I'm ARMY. BTS and BACKSTREET BOYS are completely different. I love both of them. But the real thing is that BTS is not a typical boyband at all. If you check more of their discography (300 songs) which is incredible diverse, you'll blow away for sure. Great reaction. I've seen people recommending Magic Shop and other tracks related to mental health in all his videos and he reacts to whatever... I don't think he's genuinely interested in the mental health content. I think he's just picking the songs with more views.
When you hear K-pop, you'll also assume it's pop music but they do much more than that - rap, jazz, neo-soul, ballads, Latin-infused pop, etc. Hope @ColinRea will explore BTS more. He won't be disappointed!

It was fun watching Colin's physical reaction also, as the song played through out the performance. I thought TeleTubbies when asked also. It could or it could the Korean culture.
You need to see them live now, check the NPR's BTS Tiny desk concert they did, 3 songs, Dynamite, Save Me, and Spring Day. If you watch it, Spring Day is about losing people, it ws BTS's reach to the parents and friends who lost them in the Sewal Ferry Disaster. As a mental health person, you may also want to watch one of the videos that explains the video's meaning. Italian Army made and there are others. I really think you would like the song and what is is imparting to acknowledge the country's loss and to support, help to heal their pain and others felt about the tragedy. It was song that sealed my fandom.

Thanks for the great reaction! I don't think anyone (at least in the U.S.) expects BTS to be or sound like they do. I initially dismissed them because I assumed their music would be superficial and vapid (and I'm Korean-American!). Was I ever wrong. Their talent, hard work and charisma is undeniable and their music breaks boundaries. They really are in a category by themselves. I am so impressed and proud of them.

Great reaction! I love watching people watch Dynamite for the first time. You can almost see them become a fan right in front of you - their face changes and they begin to smile, and you can tell they love the song. So fun fact - BTS actually debuted as a HIP HOP IDOL Group (still under the KPOP umbrella) in 2013, and their musical style has evolved over time to fuse and cross many genre's. If you listen to their Map of the Soul: 7 album(released Feb. 21, 2020-18 songs), you will hear so many different influences and every song is amazing. Even their second album of 2020, BE (released November 20, 2020-8 songs) is amazing in it's diversity of musical genre's, two hits from that album were Dynamite and Life Goes On. Both topping the Billboard HOT 100 at #1. MOTS: 7 was #1 Album Worldwide in 2020 and BE was #4.

I excited today because Meghan the Stallion is collabing with BTS and it almost didn't happen. As you may remember she's been in court against her LABEL for the same exact thing before. They won't let her release her music until they get what they think they are owed. Sounds like the Label was trying to extort money to allow Megan to collab. Megan claiming that the label is trying to cripple her career and also taking most of the money she makes. Butter featuring Meghan the stallion will come out Friday. Oh, I forgot to tell you, the Judge ruled in Meghans favor, against the Music Label and she will be able to do the collab with BTS. YAY!

i think you are only reacting to normal songs of different groups, it would be nice is you react to some bts songs that talk about mental health, you can find many groups with monotonous lyrics that talk about the same thing, but BTS is one of the few groups that have songs with this kind of important message, they have Magic Shop, Answer: Love myself, So Far Away, Paradise and so many other beautiful songs
