I never remember to use vellum for the shadow on a sentiment die cut! I love that and your leaves with the velum too! Wow! My favorite for the color of the sentiment was your original one-the gold! The card is gorgeous!
Haha! Vellum is definitely not my go-to either, but it's so useful when you just want to soften something without covering it up! Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you for bringing awareness Ardyth! It is ovarian and uterine cancer awareness month indeed! Listen to your bodies ladies! I'm currently in recovery for O.C. after major surgery this spring and a summer of chemo and treatments. I'm so blessed as it could've been worse. But I am terribly sorry for the loss of your friend. Let me also say you crafting TH-camrs have been a big part of my recovery. Crafting for me when i wanted to but not up for it! ❤
@@tjyb1502 Thanks for letting me know - when I typed it (under Melissa's comment), I got the 'thinking wheel' and it just kept spinning and spinning. Interesting that it ended up with you! I'll go make sure Melissa gets it too!
This is definitely a great alternative, although the results are not exactly the same. Have you looked into Craft Grafix plastic? Tiffany uses it - cheaper than Yupo, and some other slight differences, but very similar. Thanks for watching!
Great video!!! I'm going to try gel printing cardstock to make mats for my cards and artwork. Never heard of that before. Thanks! And I like how you used an acrylic block to weigh down glued items. All such great ideas!! TFS! Austin TX USA
I think the gold thanks was just fine. the brown looks good too. Love how you show the not so great results and just keep at it until it feels finished! Great job! Nice tribute to your friend!
OMG, you are so right! I think I may line it with cardstock so that some day I can use it as a splattery background on a card! Thanks so much for watching!
Love this technique and love that you show us how to get a cool result with what we have. What a gorgeous card! I would have gone with the black :) Thanks a bunch 🌼
Love, love, love this! I will be pulling out my alcohol inks TODAY! I like the red thanks just slightly better than the brown, but truth be told I like both.
After I finished the card, I thought if I had blended some red ink around the edges, I would have liked it even more, and then I might have preferred the red thanks too. Thanks so much for watching!
I love watching your experiments. I always learn so much from you. A friend of mine uses alcohol ink on poster board that she buys in a dollar store, here in the US, and gets pretty good results. Thank you so much for sharing your results!
You're not the only one to say that. I liked it too, just found it hard to read in some lights. You can definitely use blending solution on the gel plate - isopropyl alcohol as well. Thanks so much for watching!
Another great experiment to try in my lab (aka craft room). Thank you for sharing! Is there a particular brand of the index paper you use? I could swear you’ve mentioned it before but I can’t remember.
I don't really have a link for it since I get it from Amazon in Canada. It's called Hammermill Premium Color Copy Cover 100lb, 100 brightness. Hope that's helpful!
Yes, it appears to. Mine is now yellow. Which is not a big deal for paints which are opaque but if I'm using alcohol inks or dye inks (especially lighter colours), it's hard to see where the inks are on the gel plate. I've got other plates that I can use, and keep this one for alcohol inks (although it is my favourite size... lol!) Another little crafty problem to solve! Thanks so much for watching!
Beautiful! TFS. Condolences on the loss of your friend.
Thank you so much!
Beautiful cards 🥰 I love your backgrounds, your color choices and your card designs ❤ thanks for sharing your creativity Hugs xx
Thank you so much!
What a beautiful tribute! You can make anything beautiful!

You are special, in a very good way.
Aw, thanks, Mary! You too!
That is a really beautiful card! I love those leaves!

Thank you so much!
Interesting technique with the alcohol inks. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful cards! Alcohol inks scare me but I just might have to try them again. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for watching!
Love your creativity ❤

Thanks for experimenting- it ended up being a cool mixed media panel!
Thanks so much for watching!

@@ardyth oops! Your message to Melissa came to me.... 😬🤔🤷♀️☺
@@tjyb1502 Thanks for letting me know - when I typed it (under Melissa's comment), I got the 'thinking wheel' and it just kept spinning and spinning. Interesting that it ended up with you! I'll go make sure Melissa gets it too!
The colors you chose were very pretty too! I love it!
That's so different 😊
Thanks for watching!
Fabulous! Such a wonderful technique to share as yupo paper and the like are so expensive. Your results were amazing
Thanks so much!
Love seeing your experiments Ardyth! Sorry for your loss, I’m sure Lindsey would love this hop in her honour ❤
Thanks so much, Candice!
That's a great idea...especially since YUPO paper is expensive and I feel like I am wasting it when I experiment.
This is definitely a great alternative, although the results are not exactly the same. Have you looked into Craft Grafix plastic? Tiffany uses it - cheaper than Yupo, and some other slight differences, but very similar. Thanks for watching!

Thanks - I thought it was fine too, just harder to read in certain lighting. Thanks so much for watching!
Your card turned out lovely. 🥰
Thanks so much!
I love the card and those gems are so pretty. I had to go check them out and ended up buying 4 colors.
LOL! I LOVE their gems - they're even better in real life, just wait! Thanks so much for watching!
God Bless Her! I went through ovarian cancer treatment last year. Your tribute hit home hard!
Oh gosh. I'm so sorry to hear that, but so glad you're doing better! Thanks for sharing.
Love this! I’ve used glossy paper and glossy photo paper instead of yupo.
That's a great tip! Thanks for watching!
Love this technique and how the card turned out. Think I may need to get a gel plate… (I also love the inside of your splatter box 😂)
OMG, you are so right! I think I may line it with cardstock so that some day I can use it as a splattery background on a card! Thanks so much for watching!
Love how you're not intimidated to experiment and try things. The results are so interesting and fun!
Haha! I am an 'experiential' learner! (ie learn the hard way, sometimes)! Thanks so much for watching!
Black. Definitely I would have used black.
Haha! Black is my go-to as well. Thanks so much for watching!
I used to work in a photo lab and the matte photo paper actually works kinda ok much to my surprise lol
I've heard that! I'll have to give it a try! Thanks so much for watching!

I ran out of yupo, so I tried photo paper worked pretty good. I was able to move the ink around.
That's a great tip! Thanks so much for watching!
Sorry... have had a death in the family and I am just catching up. Love what you did with this card and personally fall colors were great.
I'm very sorry for your loss and appreciate you watching!
Love the card, so pretty! I actually prefer the mat gold on this one 🙈
Question - could you use blending solution on your gel plate? If not, why?
You're not the only one to say that. I liked it too, just found it hard to read in some lights. You can definitely use blending solution on the gel plate - isopropyl alcohol as well. Thanks so much for watching!

I MUST use my gel plate (with alcohol inks!) ..or anything...
LOL! It's fun! Thanks for watching!
I wonder what alcohol inks would look like on velum...hmmm, I might have to try that.
YES! They definitely work on vellum and can look amazing! I'm excited that you're excited! Thanks for watching!
I didn't see in the dooblydoo what Hammermill paper you used.
I don't really have a link for it since I get it from Amazon in Canada. It's called Hammermill Premium Color Copy Cover 100lb, 100 brightness. Hope that's helpful!
@@ardyth Thank you!
Does using alcohol ink on the gel plate permanently stain it ?
Yes, it appears to. Mine is now yellow. How about gold?
Great idea! Thanks for watching!
Please don't use hand sanitizer with scents. It can cause allergic reactions, migraines or other problems in those who receive cards.
That's a great reminder. Thanks for watching!
