    Thanks to those of you who have reminded me not to spritz blending solution due to the resins/sealers in it. My spritzer has alcohol in it, but I mis-spoke in the video. Safety first!

      I have been tempted to get into alcohol inks, but haven't for several reasons. I've done this effects using markers and water on top of a zip lock bag. I have gotten some spray inks that have been fun to. Loved all your final out comes. My big issue is that I can't decide what colors to get to start with too... Thanks for sharing. I'm still tempted. Have a great day.

    • @ardyth

      @@lauramartin7300 I wonder if you have a friend or a store nearby where you could try them out. Then you could see if you like them before you buy (although they're not terribly expensive - I would suggest 3 primary colours that you like. You can try slick photo paper which is cheaper than Yupo). But I do think that if you're happy with the effects you're getting with other methods, it's ok not to buy them - I'm all about getting the look of an inspiration with what you already have! Thanks so much for watching!

    Hi, Ardyth, thanks for your video. A friend and I recently tried the salad spinner technique, for me, it took some practice! My spinner has a ‘peak’ in the centre which changed things up. Eventually, we got some lovely backgrounds; especially when we added in some metallic mix actives. I also wanted to say I LOVE 💕 the butterfly and initial flower cards. I particularly liked the embossed flowers after you had just added the first two colours. Finally, I didn’t think I really liked the acetate background; however, when you turned it into the cut out, stained flower window, WOW! It goes to show, even if you don’t really like something KEEP GOING! Once a card, it can look totally different, and gorgeous! I love your videos. 🌸💐🌻🌺🦋🐨🦘

      I get what you're saying - I want to try different colours, and more inks and/or alcohol to see how much I can 'control' the look I get with the spinner. And yes, adding metallics would be gorgeous! Thanks so much for your kind words and for watching!

    When using the embossing folders. Maybe try and take a sanding block to gently rub the top so the embossed image shows more. I think Jennifer McGuire did that in one of her video on embossing folders and distress inks.

    I started this video thinking I'd be safe from temptation because I've decided I don't so alcohol inks, but by the end I was thinking maybe I could just buy 3 basic colors...! :D I loved the stained glass effect. I will probably buy a paper pad that was created by alcohol ink artists instead, at least to test whether they work well with my style. BTW I got heart shaped bubble wrap in a package from Hong Kong - the actual bubbles were heart shaped! I saved that to use with inks sometime :)

I don’t want to ruin them 😅 Also stamping with only the alcohol is something I wouldn’t try with my stamps. Maybe only with a rubber stamp, but not with a clear stamp? I loved to see the video. Alcohol inks can stain the stencils, but if you wipe them with alcohol, it seems to come up. Not sure about the long-term effects of the alcohol on my stamps, but I did clean it well, so fingers crossed! Thanks for watching!

      Ranger makes a blending solution specifically for Alcohol Inks. It is almost interchangeable with alcohol, but has some different properties. Thanks so much for watching!

    Try diluting the alcohol inks 50/50 with 90% alcohol in a small bottle with needle nose delivery. Easier to blend the colors with the air device. Great video. Thanks.

    Wow, great ideas and stunning results. I really loved the results of the spinning, taking me back to my childhood. Time to take out the alcohol inks again.
    Question: what glue did you use for the window/see through card where the flower die cut is glued onto the acetate? Thank you for so much inspiration!!

    • @ardyth

      I used Bearly Arts liquid glue. If you look REALLY closely, you can see the outlines of where the glue is, but it definitely dried clear, so it looks really good! Thanks so much for watching!

    Amazing cards. I think I heard you say “spritz with blending solution”? Blending solution should never be put in a spray bottle as it’s dangerous to inhale given the binding agent. Alcohol sprays are fine. Just thought as I’d mention for safety.

    Ok, no kidding - the salad spinner card is without a doubt my favorite! Of all the crazy ideas! I honestly can't believe someone even THOUGHT of the idea let alone try it! For your try with the bubble wrap, here's a question/thought. When I get bubble wrap, my kids are the first ones to get ahold of it so they can pop the bubbles. IF my kids aren't around and I'm able to "hide" the bubble wrap from them, I can't help but pop the bubbles myself. There is something "gratifying" (?) about popping those bubbles (lol)! Perhaps your bubble wrap had "popped" bubbles? If so, "full" bubbles MIGHT work better. IF the bubbles weren't popped, picking up the ink with latex paint could be the key factor. I agree, the embossing didn't show with the inks but I really thought the embossed paper looked GREAT after you had die cut it into flower shapes. It added a whole new element to paper flowers. I like those MUCH better than plain inked flowers (just my personal opinion). I LOVE playing with alcohol inks. I've not tried your ideas so those will be my next "challenge! TFS

      @ardyth  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha! Not sure who thought of it originally, but it sure is fun! My bubble wrap was definitely the kind where the bubbles were sandwiched and not really exposed. Just opened a package with 'proper' bubble wrap in it and I can't wait to give it a try! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and for watching!

    If you have some scraps, you could put those on the outside bowl of the salad spinner to see what the splatter does when to them. That allows you to have the main card designed and then also some extras so you get more use out of the alcohol inks. You might have to tape them to the outside of the collandar piece, though, so they don't trip it up when spinning 🤔
