It WORKED! My first attempt had the cap come off in less than thirty seconds. I'm sure with continued practice (and possible wear) it'll pop off just as easy as you make it look. Thank you so much for not only coming up with such a simple and effective solution to an annoying problem, but also for taking the time to share your tips and tricks with the rest of us in the same boat. You're like a magician, my friend! Take care and thanks again!
BTW gently putting some heat to it with a hair dryer makes it more pliable and come off even easier-virtually undamaged. Not too hot for too long or the caps can shrink. Or put a coffee mug full of hot water (from the red tap on your system if it has one--or about 90 seconds in the microwave)-in the sink--put the jug cap down into the mug-might need to brace it with something so it doesn't tip over or let it rest against the side of the sink. Leave it for a few minutes to warm up. Hair dryer is the easiest though. Been using a spoon and a hair dryer for years now. Pay a little more to replace the jug with a brand new/exchange replacement once every six months so you don't have to clean it out.
Thank you! I was really struggling with this. We use a manual pump instead of a dispenser. I’ve been transporting full jugs with a plastic sandwich bag on top fastened with a rubber band, which can be messy in the back of my vehicle. This works great!!!
I believe you are supposed to be able to tear the bottom section off, and the remainder smaller cap is still supposed to seal just fine. It won't look as "sealy," but you care about functionality, not looks. Give it a try. I believe the reason it has the extra plastic portion is to "prove" it has never been unsealed prior to someone receiving it. I do appreciate the ingenuity that went into your solution!
So yeah...there are some lids that are equipped with the bottom section that peels off...and they do reseal as long as you store the jug upright...if you store on a rack sideways, they tend to pop off...the type I buy do not have a lower portion that tears off. Thanks for your comments!!
Thank you for this information. I was under the assumption that they the water company just didn’t want us refilling their jugs, since their jugs cost 6 dollars to exchange at Walmart lol so here I’ve been trying to refill the bottles without breaking the lid off! I tore the bottom off and the top part still sealed just fine lol thanks
Thanks for the tips, sir. The tea spoon didn't work for me because it's tearing the cap's seal, but I managed to slip my finger under the cap to open it like how you showed it.
I go to a water store near my home with the best water and ice ever the water tastes perfect and the ice is those perfect crystal clear perfectly square cubes idk why but perfect ice like thar makes any cold drink better lol. His prices are great and since I'm a regular customer he gives me new no spill caps on all my water jugs each time I go in for a fill up
I cannot get the spoon under the plastic lid on my water container. I have the Primo containers & either I need to start lifting weights (ha,ha) or the plastic is different than the one you are using my friend. The Primo containers have a green lid that refuses to separate from the water receptacle. I was so excited about doing this. I’m tired of losing water at the water stations cus it splatters all around the small whole in the existing lid. So sad, I thought this was gonna work for me. 😞
Does Amazon have lids for Primo containers, really? I thought they didnt carry the Primo brand lids to fit. And this after I finally managed to remove the kids like you shared on your video. 😆 Thanks! 👍🏼
I"m in Canada....not sure where to buy in the UK...BTW..visiting the UK is on my bucket list!! England for the Beatles, Ireland for the Pubs, and Scotland for the Scotch!...

This method is much better than heating the cap using hot water. I am uncomfortable heating plastic.

(almost) everyone does!
Great hack! Can you provide the link where we can purchase these?
Amazon.ca

Oh no!
you can buy the lids on Amazon....not expensive...
then reuse them

You can also drill a hole on the bottom of the jug and never remove the bottle again. Just pour in filtered water once a week
True, unless your water dispenser is the type that has the jug standing upright underneath the dispenser
I purchased these and they are leaking. Have you found that with yours? I have a 5 tier shelf so they are lying on their sides to save space.
I store mine on the side as well....I have not had any problem with leaking....
Can you share the link where you purchased these?
