It now makes sense why William was chosen to join the band. Not only was he able to blend with Jerry, but he helped Jerry during one of the toughest times in his life. You DON'T forget that kinda shit. I bet it was a no-brainer for Jerry, & he just had to "sell it" to Sean & Mike.
He was hurting. Poor guy. Could definitely tell. But the guy on the left 7 yrs later would be responsible for one of the greatest comebacks in Rock history. Thanks William.
He definitely looks messed up. I'm sure doings shows after Laynes death was probably the last thing he wanted to do. William Duvall is a great singer. I'm glad they carried on. We'll always have the memories of Alice from the 90's.
@@mattiadei8402woah, chill there, mate. Yeah, William can’t sing man in the box super well, but he sounds pretty good on everything else. What I can say for sure is that he sounds amazing on their newer songs
this was probably the worst time for jerry to be on tour :( he wasn’t nearly as energetic as he usually is during this, poor guy I wanna give him a hug
My son was 7 his first show now he can play every Jerry solo and song and he's opened for a lot the greats including Phil Anselmo this started it all but he was a Jerry fan already his first favorite song cut you in
Its funny, you are watching this young man play yet not realizing he's been making hit songs for 12 years prior. He is without a doubt our generations Paul McCartney. Needless to say of what I think of this guy!😊
He had just lost Layne and the band ,he was going threw alot,I saw him here in new Orleans in November 2002,hes seems like a cool kick ass guy that likes to play,he was missing his band and Layne at the time
From wikipedia "In 1999, DuVall, Bevan, and Nico moved on to form Comes With The Fall, adding Adam Stanger as their bassist. CWTF released their first cd Comes with the Fall in 2000, and their second cd The Year is One in 2001. CWTF began touring as both the opening band and as part of Jerry Cantrell's solo band for his Degradation Trip tours in 2001 and 2002"
Lookin back you'd think that this was Jerry's way to recruit William in Alice in chains and I miss Layne staley I wish he was still alive such a great talented singer songwriter
Charlotte, NC used to have cool music festivals with kick-ass bands like Jerry Cantrell/AIC etc... Sadly, Now it's just a another gentrified city with Starbucks hipsters & f@#ing bankers! 😢 PLEASE BRING SEATTLE'S KICK-ASS MUSIC BACK here again!
So true. Was thinking of relocating there because I remembered the old Charlotte. Drove all the way there this summer from the West Coast and said, "WTH?" and scratched it off my list.

I was here!!! He played with STP after his set was over.

Thanks for? For ruining layne's songs?
@@mattiadei8402 🤣 Yeah really think they should play the new stuff and leave the old stuff to Layne. Sounds like a cover band.

yeah you can see it :(
Low point of his life, he was living super rough during the time when he was making deg trip and during this tour
Little did Jerry know then....Will would sing with him again in AIC. RIP Layne....you are still missed!!!!
Degradation Trip is brutal and truly amazing.
Thank you for sharing this live performance 🍻🍻
Makes me cry to see Jerry like this. But you still went on tour so I got to give it to him. He just lost his best friend but he gave it what he could.

Such a great song! 🤘😏
Oh man. The pain really got to him at 3:40. Can’t even imagine what Jerry was feeling. 😢
It really didn’t, the original track vocals has some vibrato during that section.
@@donaldthescotishtwin
I wasn’t referring to his vocals, but his demeanor. The guy was in emotional pain.
Poor Jerry 😢

I was today years old when I learned Danzig played drums.

I was there
Is that William Duvall playing guitar?
Yep.

Yes thats him just wierd already WOW
Terrified scorpion crawling the wall!
Yes but in the music video he had well is now Metallica's bassist Robert Trujillo
He was leaving after this show to go to Laynes funeral fr
It was a week after it actually, to the day. Pretty brutal
I dont think Jerry could hear himself very well in the monitors. He was pretty off in this show.

@Ibn Sina Holy cow, I just noticed the date. This was like maybe a week after they got the news. That's so rough.

He was already performing? Layne died like two weeks before this! Damn, that's why he sounds so bad here.
He was already on tour when he got the news about Layne. You could tell he didn't want to be there
