FUN FACT: When Van Halen were on tour in the early '90's, Alice In Chains was their opening act. Jerry Cantrell saw Eddie's arsenal of Ernie Ball guitars and Peavey 5150 heads and cabinets and was telling Eddie how he personally could never afford all of that gear himself. After the tour, Jerry returned home to a friend's house where he was living and his friend asked Jerry what he was going to do with all his stuff in the garage. A puzzled Cantrell went to the garage and stood in awe at these brand new Ernie Ball guitars and Peavey 5150 guitar amp heads and cabinets, shipped courtesy of Eddie Van Halen.

Eddie visited Jason Becker who was the DLR guitarist before getting ALS..the video is on youtube later he gave money to keep
Jason's family out of medical bankruptcy.
After Eddie died They put out the video of the EVH visit and Jason auctioned off some
      guitars for $600,000

At the beginning, when I started listening to AIC, I thought all credit goes to Layne for the songwriting and of course his amazing voice, later on, I realized how Jerry was actually the pillar of the group and the mastermind behind harmonies, melodies and songwriting. Amazing musician.

Jerry Cantrell writes music you can feel in your bones. Brother is instantly effective. What a musical genius. Alice in Chains made me want to play guitar and be in a band. I got to watch the Jerry Cantrell Band from on the side of the stage, when they came to my town, and i hung with the band after (I knew people - ha). Unfortunately, Layne had died very recently and Jerry wasnt up to being in public (or so i remember) - so he didnt hang with us -- but the rest of the guys were amazingly cool. I wish i could have met Jerry just to say Thank You.
Very cool having Nancy Wilson harmonizing & the Red Rocker playing along. I got goosebumps during the intro and it got better and better.
Thank You Sammy for making it happen. Thank You Nancy for driving the train for a generation. Thank You Jerry for....everything.

Still have the hugest crush on Nancy Wilson, not in a creepy way but she is just so freaking talented and can just bring it on demand. Her harmonies on the fly during this were outstanding as well as her ability to just play that song off a sheet of paper. Of course Jerry is a pro and Sammy is a pro to the pros but anything she is in I will watch because no matter what it is or who it’s with she puts her stamp on it and brings something that nobody knew was missing until it was there.

Same here. I saw them in a relatively small town in Michigan on the Little Queen tour. I was up front, house right, cheering Nancy on the whole night. She had a flower stuck in the strings at the head of her Ovation guitar. At the end of the concert, she threw it to me. I still have it. Her playing encouraged me to work harder on my playing. I'm just an amateur musician but I'm better because of her. Back when I used to play out more my go to was to play the intro to Crazy On You then go right into Classical Gas.

Their Father Mr Wilson taught at our school and brought them in, they were so cool and unpretentious. Signed everyone’s annual, talked to us all, only maybe 20 kids came to hear them play. Flash forward a year and they came again, huge hits on the charts. Maybe not as acoustic but the entire school had to have been there. And even in the wake of their huge success they were just as cool, unpretentious. Thanks ladies for the awesome memories!

First concert I brought my young daughter to was Sammy with VH in Calgary Alberta. My last concert was Nancy Wilson and Styx. Was blessed to be given her guitar pick! 😍 So thankful for music and the joy it brings.

Nervous? They should have been nervous and bowing to you. You paved the road for them. They would be broke if it were up to people like me to buy their depressing "Music"

Met Jerry before the open of the Dirt tour show at Evergreen. What a hell of a nice guy. Was always a big fan and still am to this day. My most favorite guitar player from the 90's scene.

Have to say that I'm not a fan of the 90's music, mostly because I lived grew up with the 70's and 80's rock and metal. Nancy is top shelf and Jerry seems like a nice Dude but his music is so drony for the lack of a better word.

Jerry Cantrell is so talented. Great guitarist and even better vocalist. Never hits a bum note, and Nancy's backups are awesome. Liked it.

I was expecting Nancy and Sammy to mention something about the drummer Denny Carmassi. He started with Sammy in Montrose and played with him off and on up until Van Halen, and then he was a member of Heart when they had their second wave of hits in the 80s.

Jerry looks strange with his hair cut short and wearing it on the side. Also Nancy doesn't sound to good on the backup vocals. But still a cool video. I sure miss Layne.. He was awesome..

"Music holds the secret to know it can make you whole its not just a game of notes, its the sounds inside your soul the magic of the melody Runs through you like a stream the notes that play flow through your head (like a dream) like a dream. (Triumph-Hold ON) I remember my friends giving me a hard time way back because i liked a song from Gary Numan (In cars) when every body was into rock only I like Enya, pink Floyd , Motley Crue, Pearl jam,Loreena McKinnitt, the go gos etc etc but mostly rock. I wonder what my music would have sounded like had I been a musician.

Heart and Jerry Cantrell and the Seattle sound of the 90s is appreciated, but Grunge was a HUGE dis-service to rock music and horrible, horrible whiny, depressive music and wish it never existed. - imo
