- It's no secret, carbon fiber plated shoes have been ruling the running shoe game, especially when it comes to marathon racing. And one shoe specifically, the Nike Vaporfly Next%, has been unbeatable. Other shoes have tried to compete, and have gotten close, but nothing quite hits the same way a Next% does. Along comes the Saucony Endorphin Pro, and now we truly have some competition. It's not the same as the Next%, but that's what makes it so great. So the question is, which should you buy? I dive into that in this video.

It’s 2023 and I just brought out my brand new pair of the Pro 1. One of my favorites of all time
For everyday use probably endorphin, but high tempo run NIKE NEXT% all day long, IMO 👌🏻😊
I love the lacing on the Next %.
I have both and think the Endorphin Pro holds up very well compared to the Next%. I have 50K on them now and love them. If I had to choose one over the other it would be the Saucony as well for pretty much the same reasons as you. Great comparison review! Cheers Monte

Maybe you have stronger Achilles now? I’m not sure shoes can fix these kind of problems
Luis Ribeiro definitely the shoes...I wore my NB again thinking it was fixed in January, once...injured my Achilles again...100% the shoes
@@lhprx4 Yes, shoes can correct issues. I'm not going to say how much or what part but the right shoe will correct deformities or/pain. Thus, making that weaken part stronger. ...Hence orthopedic shoes.
Vapor Fly "anything" is so hard to find here in Canada! I've never ran in a Saucony before...but I don't consider myself a "pro" runner and in Kofuzi's word, I'm a "non-elite" runner. I think Saucony has a couple more versions of the Endorphin coming out? But I am a sucker for cushioned shoes...durability and price is a hugh factor! Saucony it would be!
I've seen Vaporfly available for sale precisely once (online) in these United States. Saucony does have the endorphin speed and switch in the works, but I think they're all geared toward racing.
I’m not a pro runner either, you don’t need to be to wear a carbon plated shoe!!
@@doom4067 There are 3 versions in the Endorphin range coming out in July, the Pro featured here is the race shoe, the Speed is the tempo day shoe with a nylon plate and the Shift is the daily trainer
I fell in love with the endorphin pro at first stride, the way it cradles me when im suffering is just what I need when I'm on the verge of crying. It's nourturing!!

I've heard nightmares about durability on the ZoomX. So I went with the Endorphin Pro. Coming from a 3mm heal drop with a preference for flexible midsoles, my initial thought on the Endo is that these things really encourage speed. I'm actually finding it difficult to keep a pace that is sustainable for long runs. In fact, my running partner (who's a much better runner than I) says she won't run with me when I wear them because the pace is out of control. Really enjoying your reviews!

The vaporfly felt amazing at first , but the lack of stability made me oddly curling down with my toes and my Achilles would hurt
The lack of stability is definitely a bit negative for me
I've done a few runs in the Endorphin Pro and I really like them so far, That Speed Roll makes the shoe feel like its gliding

It's great to know that the Endorphin Pro is actually an alternative to the Vaporfly; this is an opinion that has been also shared by Eddbud, Michel Ko and Andy Raynor, so now I feel much more confident in choosing this shoe as a replacement for my vaporflys. Vaporfly NEXT% for me. They make early kms effortless and recovery from Marathons much faster.
You’ve never studied or had endorphins pros then their light years from Nike even the old kinvara 5 viziglos are superior

Hmm I think I might try the Endorphin Pro after all, it does seem to be a carbon-plated shoe in the same league with Nike's with a promising upper and platform. Agree with your observation that the Next %'s taller platform felt unstable, I found it worked my ankles and calves harder to get into stride and needed time to get used to. Great comparison!

Would go with the Endorphin purely based on durability/longevity of the foam. ZoomX bottoms out so quickly for me which causes foot pain and fatigue. Plus the pro is cheaper 🤷🏻♂️

Clif Notes Version: if you’re super efficient and not prone to injury, get the gimmicky Nikes. If you’re not from East Africa and not elite, get what is going to be more realistic for your body type.

The Endorphin Pro were my first carbon plate shoe. I wish Saucony would’ve let me return them. I don’t think my half marathon and marathon paces are fast enough for this shoe. Felt okay at 5k and 10k pace but anything slower was not pleasant.

Run Like Heller I’m loving the 1080v10 so much I might go for cushion my longer races! I finally broke 2 hours in the half in Saucony’s Ride ISO last year and the New Balance is lighter:)

Endorphin Pro: a lot cheaper, better-looking, probably more durable. Weight difference is negligible. I think you chose wisely.
Thomas Van Doren the next% looks way better.. especially the Ekinen colour wave and the white or green

Great review! I love the Next% and PR'd my 10k and half with them but when I PR'd my marathon I felt I lost some time in later miles due to ankles killing me due to the stability issues for me. I'm excited to see if Pro fixed this and better durability, although I have 150mi on the Next% and still enough in them for a fast mid distance training run.

Did you try the Pros? Same experience here with VF2 and wondering which one to wear in 3 weeks for Napa. VF2 even after the late instability, Endo Pro V1 (my current trainer) or Zoom Fly 4 ( proven fast shoe at long distance but not as fast as other 2 at shorter long runs).
Scientifically and price pointwise, I'm going with the Saucony Endorphin. I feel like I can get more from the shoe easier

Alphafly is hard to come by. Upon member and public release, it was sold out immediately. For now you can buy from Goat or Stockx, but the cost is way steep than the retail price.

To be honest, I was a Nike Fan and always stay with Nike if I need to make a choice between brands, this time however, I was really interested by Saucony Endorphin just because of your review. I will buy one to see how it responses on my feet. Thanks. And one another interesting thing I found out is I used to watch many shoes reviews from male runners, you are probably the first "female" runner I subscribe on TH-cam who did great shoe reviews.

and other Chinese video platform a lot, they are all in my own language. I did not found any female runners on these platforms who do shoe reviews better than you do, so I am thinking, can I do a translation, add the Chinese subtitle to your video (*I can download your video using some third-party platform*), and upload to *Bilibili*, let more Chinese runners watch, so they know female runners do great shoes reviews as well? I will definitely add where this video come from and give all credit to you in the video and the video description.
With all that said, I didn't just say the good words at first just because I wanted to ask you for the favor later, I do like your shoes reviews and no matter what your decision is, I will still watch your videos~

Great review - love your honesty and getting your opinion on these - looks like you and @Eddbud came out with similar reviews on the same day - I would based on both go with the Sauconys but not thinking of spending all that $$ now when I can get 3 shoes for those prices lol

I think it would be!
Ive run long distance in both and I personally prefer saucony. However, I'm not a huge fan of the pro.. I tend to enjoy the versatility of the speed instead.
The Speed is my first choice as well!
Great comparison. I have question though. I currently use fuelcell tc. Do you think shift would be a great companion to the tc? Ps. I still have shin splints after using my UB19 for 2 months now.
Shift is muuuuch firmer than TC. If you’re looking for something on the firmer side then I would say the shift is good. But if you’re looking for something that’s softer maybe the NB 1080 is a better choice

Novablast or bondi 7? i mean, if Novablast falls in the same category as my TC, then i would go for bondi 7. but if novablast contradicts the TC, the i would go for Novablast. i like to have wide variety of shoes in terms of feel as i get easily bored by the same feel for certain period of time. And it will be great to have a shoe that i can run in for a long mile that feels effortless without hurting my feet/knee etc.Thanks before

I had the same issue with the og 4%. I pr’ed the half and full marathon ( by 5 and 18 minutes) in the 4% but I’ve got about 50 miles in on the nikes and I still haven’t got used to the mid foot that feels a little unstable to me. I’ll probably try the pro next.

n f Yes - I wore the Endorphin Pro once for a 10k run. Didn’t like them & still looked new so I contacted Saucony to return. Since they were “worn”, customer service only offered a 20% refund. Never will buy directly from them again.
I’ve ran in both, and remove the logo, and the price tags, all things equal and I put the Endorphin Pro all day every day, so the fact it’s less money and you can actually get it, and get it in half sizes, well it’s a no brainer. Anyone using the next% is doing so for the clout.

I'm curious, if I have knee joint and foot pain issues after running a lot, would these shoes help? I'm a fighter and looking for a shoe that's super comfortable while doing road work.
I think these shoes may irritate your joints only because of the carbon plate. It forces your foot. I would maybe suggest something like the Hoka Clifton 7 or ASICS Gel Nimbus Lite 2

Can you do a comparison between Endorphin Pro and Asics Metaracer? Metaracer is cheaper and has lower stack which I prefer so I'm really torn between the two.
I don’t currently have the metaracer unfortunately. Tried to get it but had some sizing issues. Once I get my hands on it I’ll def do this!

Would you wear of these for a marathon? If not any of these could you recommend a plush feeling sneaker for a marathon. I also wear a wide where the options are not great beside the hoka clifton 6 or nb 1080.
I would wear the endo pro in marathon. Funny, I was going to recommend a Clifton for marathons as a plush shoe. Saucony triumph 17 is also a great option or new balance 1080v10

I think with wide foot it would be fun to try the carbon x or rincon but a lot of people will say it's very narrow and there is one run vlogger said anyone who cannot run a under 4 hour marathon in them is wasting money. With no marathon races in the near future, I'm thinking don't buy either. Wait for the next iteration or the prices to come down! Plus, not many have raced 26.2 in the Endorphin so I think until that happens, comparison is premature.
I hear great things about the New Balance Fuelcell TC as well. So I dunno....
It's also a great shoe. Very soft. Little heavier than both these models. Midsole flare on the lateral side of the shoe mixed with the high stack height is an issue for my arch collapse.

You can absolutely purchase them at many specialty running shops and in select sizes online. Plus, new colorways will be dropping soon and you’ll be able to get your hands on those.
Run Like Heller hope you are right. Running Warheouse has only had a size 4 online for over 4 months. And the 4 specialty running shoe shops in Columbus OH I have been to have not had this shoe for sale all year.

How would you compare the Endorphin Pro to the Fuel Cell TC? They are the same price and seem like they would be equally durable.
Good q! Tc is muuuuuch softer than endo pro but heavier. I like the upper on endo pro better. Tc also has a stability problem for me with the flare out on the lateral side of the midsole. I’d go with the endorphin pro

Endorphin Pro NOT AVAILABLE until August. ANYWHERE. Stupid promotion of a non-shoe. By the way - that’s some intense pronation you’ve got. Never really understood what pronation was until now. Gruesome.
Actually, if you went to the link, you would see that there are plenty available for women, and some sizes still available for men. if not they are in stock in JULY. Not August. Also, not quite sure what your issue is, but the only thing gruesome here is your attitude. Have a good day!
