- Hello TH-cam I am back with another tutorial for you guys and for this one I will be explaining how to use OBS as a voice mixer/microphone so you can talk to people and play m usic through your mic at the same time. This in my opinion is a way better method then using a tedious program like voicemeeter which more than half of the time I used it it never worked. OBS works flawlessly and never once have I had an issue or glitchy audio using the program.

If it sounds bad on Discord go to your Voice & Video settings and shut your Input Sensitivity off and move the slider all the way over to the left, turn off Echo Cancellation and put Noise Suppression to None. This fixed it for me.

i have a question i pause spotify but my mic still shows it playing its being talked through so idk if the music is still playing or not its like even though i pause the music it still shows its going but i cant hear it
great video. it worked for one night, and now i can't play music in rdr2 or speak in game unless i go back to my regular mic. i dunno whats set up wrong.

if it dosnt work for you, you can try this:
in the windows control pannel song : set your headset or what on pricipal device at all (communication too)
then go in mic device set your mic has the device device and then selecte virtual audio cable has the default device communication :)
cehck on OBS while audio is running and you will have the 3 audio device moving in OBS (Audio/Audio BETA/Mic)
if it dosnt work again (unlucky boi) unistal voicemeeter or other stuff that you dont need.

i think its cause i didnt have the right obs input mic selected in obs but i did in the game i think that was the problem
I followed the steps changed audio input in my mw3 game menu to virtual cable. I’m able to hear it through my headphones but it’s not sounding off on my game mic. On OBS only source I got is Apple Music. Do I have to add my mic? Thanks in advance.
It shouldnt say virtual cable it should say something like CABLE A or any other letter. Also if you want to talk as well you would need to add a mic source if you dont have one already
hey! followed this tutorial last night and it was walking perfectly. however, now it's registering through obs, but not ingame? i've set my input the the virtual cable in game, but mic showing no input. any ideas?
Make sure to check and see if the sound you are trying to play has "Monitor and Output" enabled in the sound source
idk if my obs is different but ive followed the steps exactly with some changes due to my computer being different . i dont have application audio capture in my audio mixer

what do u set the audio to if you want to use youtube on a browser?
Hey there you will use the Application Audio Capture in the audio sources. Then you will click drop down menu and list of currently used applications will show up. Click on your browser. After that head to advanced audio properties, them make sure you monitor and output the application audio capture
I shut down my pc and got back on vrchat a few hours later and now vrc is registering the music and my audio but i can't hear anything and the mic icon I'm vr isn't turning on when I talk or play music
Make sure you are using the right audio input for the headset you are using. Also in the vrc settings make sure you are using the right microphone. About the issue eith the mic icon, make sure you dont have your settings set too the "always off" option for the microphone.
On the second wizard thing i get a potential threat detected screen. Is it okay to proceed?

i dont use virtual audio, since i cant seem to control where the audio goes, using it, i hear nothing. instead i use my headset while in vr for my input and output, unfortunately, my problem is that i cant hear my own music unless i change my monitoring device to my output, but that results in hearing my own desktop audio (i dont hear my music when i turn desktop audio down) im lost, do i just not listen to my music?
Try setting mulltiple application audio captures and manually select which ones you want to hear and not hear by clicking on each audio source in your scene whether that may be your desktop audio or the music and enable or disable monitoring for those sources.
i have this same issue, did you figure it out because making another application audio capture isnt really helping.
me again after a few weeks, i updated to windows 11 and after doing the whole setup again, it picks up my music audio but it's not picking up my voice.
Make sure you are using the right input device and have it selected in OBS. Also dont forget to set it to monitor to output as well
ngl this is way easier than setting it up in voicemeter

I did everything (I think) right but thing is I’m a complete desktop user (so I only have the speakers option and cable) and don’t have a mic yet and when I play the music, it isn’t playing in game
So do I change anything in the settings for it to work properly???
Just make sure the monitoring device is set to the cable in obs settings, and for the application audio capture you are using make sure that is also set to monitor and output
Desktop should work fine

Im a macbook pro user, and i was wondering if you can help me if in my OBS studio's "Desktop audio" preferences only show up as VB-Cable, yet i have my "External Headphones" plugged in my macbook, could you please respond with atleast something. I will be greatful if you will atleast say something about this because this is really the thing that i need. Thanks!

A single reboot and now virtual cable no longer sends audio to vrc? Any fix to this literally nothings changed in the settings from this tutorial.

I figured it out I had to go to system-sound-cable input and unmute it, for some reason it does this automatically on reboot.

Well similar guide but might require a few extra steps. Have not tried this but you might be able to see if you could switch desktop audio itself to cable and experiment from there

Yes you would need to install the program in administrator mode. To do that right click on the file, and you should see the option to "Run as administrator". Then it should let you install the program 😁
Thank you! This is a surprisingly simple tutorial. One problem I'm facing though is that my audio (both microphone and application) is usually choppy and hard to understand. Is there a way I can fix this?
Is this from when your listening to it or is this feedback you get from others?
@@sgwigglysquid230 On Discord, if I test my mic I can notice a noticeable choppiness to the audio. Called a friend and they confirmed that the audio is choppy for them, too.
I can hear the audio fine but I think anyone else listening to it will hear the stuttering.
@@sgwigglysquid230 I'm three weeks off but I found that Discord is the only app that seems to suffer from this. This is noticeable from friends and myself. Tinkering with the audio settings in control panel eventually solves the issue but generally I just keep my mic settings to default on the app so I don't have to do that every time. Otherwise it works fine.
You can disable noise cancelation and automatic input sensitivity on discord to have it work better
My friend said it’s not loud its there a way to make it louder other then turn up the volume

It will you just got to set up your vr input in obs, and then use cable output (since you selected it as monitoring in obs) to use as your microphone. Keep in mind if you need to chsnge mics judt go in obs and change it there so it will go through the cable input

I did it correctly, i want to use this to have free and keybinded sounds to play through discord but i cant hear the sound myself, it just goes through the mic but not for me. i could hear the sound play out before i set monitoring device to cable input but after doing that it doesnt work, even tho i have audio monitoring set to "monitor and output" i stil cant hear anything. But if i set monitoring device back to default then it doesnt go to cable input so im lost..

Does this mess up your settings for everything else? Meaning u have to go back and reset everything to the way it was before when u Don't wanna stream music n stuff???
Not if you set up a seperate scene. You can assign specidic settings to a different scene and you can switch between the 2. Say if you want to stream music out of mic you can switch to the scene where you have that setting. But if you want to stream on social platforms you can switch to the scene where you have that set up.

However if your talking about like your actual pc settings, none of your pc settings would be changes doing this. If you want to play it safe after your done doing this you can set the monitor in the obs settings back to defualt
It works. Also works when recording. But is there a way to fix the delay? Like, when i sing along to the music, my voice is delayed, even tho I can hear the music fine and sing along, it just delays thru my mic for some reason. So my voice comes way after the music instead of matching with it. Any fix?

Hey, whenever I create the Application Audio Capture it does not pop up in my Audio Mixer tray... is there a reason for that happening?
it shows up as inactive so thats the reason apparently... is there a way to make it active?

After downloading the audio cable all audio to my headset cut out but i know my microphone and music is playing throught the mic. Any help?
Go into your window settings, sound tab, then check to see what the default audio device is set to, then change it back to wither headset or defualt option

Hey there make sure you have set the audio sources in obs to monitor and output so you can hear and project the music from mic. Also remember to set cable to monitoring device in OBS settings

In the video I showed you hoe to use the application audio capture for the sound your trying to play through your mic. If you want the sound to go through you have to make sure that the audio capture is set to "monitor and output" in advanced audionsettings.

To uninstall it is it the same way like voice meter?
By searching for OBS in the taskbar search you should be able to right clic, click uninstall, and a list of your installed applications should show up. Then find obs and uninstall from there

No it should only be the current audio and not multiple
I turned off the desktop audio but it is still glitchy
there could be other factors that could be making the audio glitchy. On my end I wont be able to tell for sure what that could be as this is something you are gonna have to check for yourself.
When I went to desktop in my folder, it was empty😅
mine is just making this like little pop sound every 6 seconds

Hi there try to disable noise suppression and automatic inoht sensitivity in discord settings and see if that helps. Also make sure only 1 source in your obs is putting out your voice so your voice is not being duplicated

@@sgwigglysquid230 also this started happening randomly as well or maybe I just never payed attention to it whenever the song changes or pauses on the application capture on properties it highlights that spotify.exe isn't there and I have to go to the dropdown menu then it shows the now playing song but if it switches or pauses I have to re select it

i think, people for who this tutorial dont work, they maybe have other stuff activated has default device in the windows control song pannel (in audio device not in communication device), so what i did its to desactivated all device selected to be sure that my principal device is the one. bcs it have set other device has default communication device (always in audio device not in communication device), so to clear it i desactivated the one selected to redirected all power on pricipal device (audio device always).
and in communication device there is only my mic selected, then the rest happend in OBS ^^
(this problem happend bcs i instal voicemeeter so i have setting in other way the audio and mic device than the regular settings of windows ^^)
So just resettings all audio pannel in original mod, and then do the tutorial ;)
