I also use Touch Portal and even though I don't touch VM while streaming very often. It's still nice to have that capability. I know it's early access but I was expecting more out of the gate.
Question, I wonder if using a virtual cable as the output for the music source, added to Sonar, would it work that way? Or are you saying that it automates Game Volume, Chat Volume, and no way to make your own "Music Volume" source? Thanks in advanced and sorry for the possible redundancy.
@@TheFranswahStudio As I am using Voicemeeter a lot, I think I will try your suggestion out. We learn so much Herr on TH-cam. It really is an information treasure box
Good video but was disappointed you didn't go over whether or not this would work with a 2 PC setup. Voice Meeter VBAN is a great feature to send/receive audio to other PC's within the same network, but it does have its quirks and increases the complexity for a multi PC setup.
if you wanted to, you could use something like virtual audio cable and create an audio driver per application and then use windows volume manager to set which applications output to that virtual output device. then in obs you just add an audio capture source for the virtual output device and Robert is your Cousin's dad. then you just do all your mixing inside of obs and optionally in the advanced audio panel, monitor the output of that source so that it comes through your speakers/headphones.
@@Grillordy because of your reply, I will update my answer - OBS now has direct application level audio capture which means that you can use window's volume manager you can send applications to an audio device you don't hear output from (either VAC or simply an audio output you don't have anything plugged into (like a digital out or speaker out you don't use if you have one available), and capture the audio from the individual applications individually and mix them in obs. if you want to monitor them, you can choose "output and monitor" from obs settings so you can hear them as well (and the monitor is at the END of the audio chain so you hear any and all filters you've applied as well as it will appear in the video/stream output.)
Honestly Steelseries knocked it out of the park with Sonar. now I only need one app for everything and the spatial audio is magical. for the first time i knew exactly where someone was in a game just by hearing them
Very promising program that’s only going to get better in time. Sound design directional emersion with stock eq sounds are great. VM is not user friendly but comes with a ton of control and tweaks when you get the hang of it. Not to mention the macros that you can do. Hope sonar and VM comes with an offspring to integrate the two together!
I can't thank you enough my guy, I've been trying to use vst plugins on voicemeter for a while now and its just bad this app is so simple and easy with all the built in features I need I don't usually leave comments but I fucking love you for this 💗
App doesn't startup with windows no matter what. Even with a shortcut in windows startup folder. You don't have an option to start minimized so when you start it manually it always opens (i guess for advertisement reasons that i would pay to remove if the app was more user friendly) When you have 2 different audio outputs and you want to sync them you simply can't. When you only wanna use it to tweak your mic and set your preference output devices as you like it always sets a warning to set them to (application default settings) and if you ignore it, next time it'll automatically reset them. It's not allowing the user to tweak audio outputs in real time (sometimes work for eq) but most of the time you have to switch back and forth on different output devices to make the changes work. When you select 2 different outputs 1st one its not gonna work if youre just trying to sync both outputs (headphones & speakers) also if you got 2 working but different devices, it simply WON'T LET YOU mix volumes ...... so why its even there?? Also why its so difficult to sync 2 output devices, (without the stupid listen to this device that ads stupid amounts of delay) Its that weird that someone might use headphones and speakers and doesn't want to manually switch output devices everytime..... Anyways. Good app needs help, it has potentials if the ppl making it actually want to do something good and not sell gimmick bs
Idk why but Teamspeak hates me using a Tascam Series 102i audiot interface.. Having a steelseries mouse and Sonar already installed this is a true blessing...
Hi! GREAT VIDEO! Have tested using the AUTOEQ settings for your headphones In The SteelSeries Sonar app instead of Equalizer APO? do you think that would WORK? 🤔🤙🤓
I definitely won't be throwing Voicemeeter out the window for this, but I use many more functions in Voicemeeter than the average streamer. Namely, Patch Inserts to route audio to a VST plugin application, and MIDI input for a much more robust "Streamdeck" I setup manually using an AKAI MIDI keyboard. I'll probably recommend this to friends who are looking for a better way to setup audio for their rigs for sure though. Then I don't have to screenshare a training session on Voicemeeter for them anymore xD
the custom EQ has a critical problem where some apps effect default audio and stack recording audio and then you listen to exact same footage in editing software it sounds different no one bothers to talk about it and its a common problem for small creators
VM has been acting very intrusive. I usually would wait the 30 seconds easy. Now it makes me wait 100 plus seconds til I can use it. Now if it pops up, I can't even alt+tab it away. I have to Win+D and re select the app I was using. Glad this exists.
How can i fix my mic picking up sounds from pc and mix it with my voice example : i want to record something important to say while listening to music , i dont want the music to get picked up by the mic but thats actually is my problem ! in obs i seperated discord , game , music , mic/aux in diffrent tracks , everything working fine but the mic/aux picking up every sound :(
The problem lies in its usage of 8 channels, which cannot be modified. Attempting to utilize audio through Remote Control DRP results in ineffective handling. Until now, I've successfully integrated Voicemeeter and Sonar, and it's functioning exceptionally well.
Thank you very much for this video the fact that you can so easily choose raising the sound for you independently from the stream it's so intuitive and not uselessly complicated for people that are not into the audio stuff voicemeeter did a lot of apps but they're kind of all the same user interface have a good day thank you ;)
I see the first problems of that program, for example, the new call of duty modern warwafe 2, won't let me play in fulscreen exclusive mode, in case I use steelseries gg audio stuff... hopefully the developers will fix it, and I won't have to use 10 programs with VST plugins
Based on this info you didn't mention it but I am assuming it also doesn't suppose Network audio AKA VBAN, for streamers that use voicemeeter to send multiple sources of audio from one Voicemeeter to another other a local network.
Yes, it's just that Sona can't have several outputs at the same time. An enormous advantage of Voicemetter is that you can set multiple sources, whether physical or virtual, and if you want to change your output, you just press a button and the sound comes out on another device, that's it Sona not possible because you have to manually adjust where it comes from for each source and that's annoying
I use IL Minihost Modular with VM and you can put on whatever free VSTs you want to adjust your sound once you set it up. I'm running an additional noise gate, real time noise removal, a de-esser, a compressor, very tiny bit of reverb to get some more naturalness back in the voice... etc... sadly I think I'm addicted to doing neat audio setups now and wouldn't want to go back to "one size fits all" type apps... but certainly they could have appeal for people that just want to jump in and record.
Voice meter has errors that make your audio staticy or cut out completely. Me and other streamers I know get the same issue. If it does not do that than it is 100% better. Cause it would be useable.
I'll just stick with VoiceMeeter tbh, looking at how the UI is and stuff looks messy at first but I can honestly understand why it was designed this way. It makes starts to make more sense as you use it, but a UI update would certainly help. Some people made 3rd party software that works along voicemeeter, like binding the master volume control to the windows volume. It makes the program easier to use but stuff like that should've been with voicemeeter from the start.
I used to use voicemeeter, but I got tired of the constant audio crackling issues. I switched over to a digital audio workstation app, and never went back.
Mine works correctly, the audio only crackles when I'm downloading something heavy, I restart the audio engine to solve it, does anyone know how I can fix this?
Hi great video, quick question could I use this to record the sounds coming out my daw to record audio threw my screen recorder Camista? Thanks in advance 😊
I would try it out except for I can’t use graphic EQ, I can only use parametric, because well if you think about it, graphic EQ doesn’t work too well for a blind person.
Discords output would be to the chat source of the Sonar app. As far as the Noise Gate goes having the noise gate to prevent lower db values from being heard in your headset from those you’re in comms with is a nice touch
Something that sonar, rode unify, elgato wavelink etc all lack is audio channel limiters. I need to be able to apply a limiter to my game audio to prevent big jumps in volume from giving me hearing damage! For example the game icarus has a really loud and grating woodchopping sound and it hurts my ears. Just lowering the overall game audio makes all other sounds too low. So in voicemeeter I just apply a limiter to my game audio channel and whenever the sounds go above that threshold it's not too loud anymore. My problem with voicemeeter is that it has a noticeable delay when I hear audio vs when it's played on my recordings. So in my gameplay videos the audience hears something before I do, so my commenting is delayed. It's annoying.
Thanks! I use this now to cleanup my Mic Sound (internal Mac microphone) before it goes into MS Teams. I do the same for the output sound of MS Teams. For both I use the stock Voice Plugins (VP and VR) and a high pass filter at about 200Hz to finally save my ears of those boomy low frequencies. I wear Headphones and the basses war exhausting. Especially after a full day of calls. Also my own voice was muddy and boomy (bad acoustics in my room). That's all fixed now!
thank u for this my man, voicemeeter is a little too hard for me to use as a person who doesnt really know anything about computers or audio or what-have-you. very simple to use program and i dont have too many programs i want to reroute audio for so its perfect. very much thank you for the educational video!!
Yeah sure it's easier to setup, but I think Voicemeeter offers more possibilities, especially when you have very specific things to do And it doesn't need to have Steelseries
Is there also a way to make the mic sound better like the intellipan from VoiceMeerer? And how is the delay compared to VoiceMeeter? I don't know how to setup an equalizer.
i use an application called Soundpad to play music and sounds through my microphone. if i change how my mic sounds would that also affect how music would sound? for example if i add more bass to my mic will it also add bass to songs i play through my mic? if so i would love to know if there is a way around this so i can tweak how my mic sound without it having an affect on the music

Oh, thanks bro. I began to feel like I could build a spaceship with what I learnt using Voicemeeter, my god! This is way simpler.
One feature that I wish more audio programs like these had is the ability to apply more than one VST Plugin. I like doing my own voice alteration, but it's almost always either "here, have these presets" or "okay, you can use ONE plugin, but that's it" when even at the minimum I usually need at least three.
Vst support is a necessity
Audio Repeater Pro has it.
well you can use carla as a VST host, or LightHost.
Cantabile?
@@garyrowe58I second that I use like 5 plugins and a keyboard vst at once
I hit the like button! Thank you for your guide. I unfortunately learned Voicemeeter Banana first but this option looks way better for me as I totally wrekt my voicemeeter out of frustration
This app is for beginners, for those who don’t need every source, I don’t think I was misleading with pros and cons in this video
@@TheFranswahStudio Oh I know you weren't! I'm saying basically that I feel stupid for not knowing about this easier option sooner, that's nothing wrong with you or your videos! You're good lol
@@TheFranswahStudio I edited to reword it better too btw! ^ ^
Is it better than Voicemeeter? Yes. Can I replace Voicemeeter with this? No. Not in it's current state. I often have two browsers open at the same time and need control over their volume. I also use Touch Portal and even though I don't touch VM while streaming very often. It's still nice to have that capability. I know it's early access but I was expecting more out of the gate.
do you know how to stop background noises on voice meeter or like close it without my volume or stop the echo pls reply if u do
love the video! really good honest breakdown of the two. i like the humor of tossing away VM lol.
Question, I wonder if using a virtual cable as the output for the music source, added to Sonar, would it work that way? Or are you saying that it automates Game Volume, Chat Volume, and no way to make your own "Music Volume" source? Thanks in advanced and sorry for the possible redundancy.
Exactly what we needed! Appreciate the video my man, now if there was a way to send this over to a stream PC that would make it next level!
Dude this video saved me from so much headache, thank you.
An awesome video! Thank you very much for highlighting this. 😄👍👍
Cheers to you, my man! 🥃🥃
My pleasure!
bro this program is perfect. it's so much easier to use than voicemeeter and the noise cancelation is miles better. love it
Very good to know. Thanks for sharing this here 👏
You’re welcome Matthias
@@TheFranswahStudio As I am using Voicemeeter a lot, I think I will try your suggestion out.
We learn so much Herr on TH-cam. It really is an information treasure box
Good video but was disappointed you didn't go over whether or not this would work with a 2 PC setup. Voice Meeter VBAN is a great feature to send/receive audio to other PC's within the same network, but it does have its quirks and increases the complexity for a multi PC setup.
Did you find out if this works a year later with a multi pc setup? Thanks.
if you wanted to, you could use something like virtual audio cable and create an audio driver per application and then use windows volume manager to set which applications output to that virtual output device. then in obs you just add an audio capture source for the virtual output device and Robert is your Cousin's dad. then you just do all your mixing inside of obs and optionally in the advanced audio panel, monitor the output of that source so that it comes through your speakers/headphones.
^^^
Your brain is way too big, im not reading that but appreciate the detailed contribution
A Mic adjustment video for SteelSeries Sonar would be great to see.
You don't have an option to start minimized so when you start it manually it always opens (i guess for advertisement reasons that i would pay to remove if the app was more user friendly)
When you have 2 different audio outputs and you want to sync them you simply can't.
Also why its so difficult to sync 2 output devices, (without the stupid listen to this device that ads stupid amounts of delay)
Its that weird that someone might use headphones and speakers and doesn't want to manually switch output devices everytime.....
Anyways. Good app needs help, it has potentials if the ppl making it actually want to do something good and not sell gimmick bs
Going to keep an eye on this one, It has potential. Thanks for keeping us honestly informed.
You’re welcome Melvin
Dual PC Communication and I am sold.
Hey man! Tks 4 sharing, it was very useful for me that use a low end mic.
THANK YOU SO MUCH MAN IVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH RTX VOICE THIS SAVED ME LIKED AND SUBBED
Oh wow it's so amazing, I just install it and damn man it works like a hot knife on butter. Thanks for the video.
Yes!! Got this with my SteelSeries Atics 9. Love it!!
Thank you Franswah and SteelSeries!!!!
Nice video, but do I need to select my voicemeeter input and output for the setup or should I select my normal mic and speaker?
You don’t - it’s compatible with anything that works on windows
I definitely won't be throwing Voicemeeter out the window for this, but I use many more functions in Voicemeeter than the average streamer. Namely, Patch Inserts to route audio to a VST plugin application, and MIDI input for a much more robust "Streamdeck" I setup manually using an AKAI MIDI keyboard.
I'll probably recommend this to friends who are looking for a better way to setup audio for their rigs for sure though. Then I don't have to screenshare a training session on Voicemeeter for them anymore xD
does this have a programmable api? does it allow bridging into a DAW? or multiple submixes? if not it will never be as good imo.
the custom EQ has a critical problem where some apps effect default audio and stack recording audio and then you listen to exact same footage in editing software it sounds different
no one bothers to talk about it and its a common problem for small creators
I love this, SO MUCH BETTER THAN VOICEMEETER. Thank you for showing us this!!!!
WOW No audio crackling, I love it
VM has been acting very intrusive. I usually would wait the 30 seconds easy. Now it makes me wait 100 plus seconds til I can use it. Now if it pops up, I can't even alt+tab it away. I have to Win+D and re select the app I was using. Glad this exists.
How can i fix my mic picking up sounds from pc and mix it with my voice
example : i want to record something important to say while listening to music , i dont want the music to get picked up by the mic but thats actually is my problem ! in obs i seperated discord , game , music , mic/aux in diffrent tracks , everything working fine but the mic/aux picking up every sound :(
The problem lies in its usage of 8 channels, which cannot be modified. Attempting to utilize audio through Remote Control DRP results in ineffective handling. Until now, I've successfully integrated Voicemeeter and Sonar, and it's functioning exceptionally well.
Thank you very much for this video the fact that you can so easily choose raising the sound for you independently from the stream it's so intuitive and not uselessly complicated for people that are not into the audio stuff voicemeeter did a lot of apps but they're kind of all the same user interface have a good day thank you ;)
Him: Its better than Voicemeeter. Also Him: Configuring Voicmeeter output's in the tool :D
It’s just recorded b-roll. Recorded the b-roll prior to the making of the video and didn’t have my mic setup
@@TheFranswahStudio I thougt of that. But still funny :D
Can you send all of the input devices to one output device. So lets say a mic, game audio, chat audio over to just one virtual output device?
I use IL Minihost Modular with VM and you can put on whatever free VSTs you want to adjust your sound once you set it up. I'm running an additional noise gate, real time noise removal, a de-esser, a compressor, very tiny bit of reverb to get some more naturalness back in the voice... etc... sadly I think I'm addicted to doing neat audio setups now and wouldn't want to go back to "one size fits all" type apps... but certainly they could have appeal for people that just want to jump in and record.
Just set it up...perfect...so easy!
Great to hear!
Can u use this program?
without having steelseries products
And you are telling me.. he only has 366 views?
God speed content, I must say.
much love for this comment :) It currently has a 22% impression click-through rate so I imagine it will grow rather quick lol
Cool! For something in between raw start and high end setup
So it sounds like you CAN use virtual audio cables as a source, point a browser at that cable and presto right?
do you still recommend this over voicemeeter?
It depends on the person - I don’t recommend either just try to help inform everyone of both
Voice meter has errors that make your audio staticy or cut out completely. Me and other streamers I know get the same issue. If it does not do that than it is 100% better. Cause it would be useable.
THANK YOU so much man watched your other banana video n it was great then I changed one thing and lost it all LMAO... so you saved me with this.
@@matics28 I had an issue like that I just used the wrong audio bind and I never had issues with VoiceMeeter again.
@@matics28 u prob did not change ur bitrate, bitrate missmatch causes audio issues like crackling
Mine works correctly, the audio only crackles when I'm downloading something heavy, I restart the audio engine to solve it, does anyone know how I can fix this?
@kaiman_42 never had this problem honestly sorry
Hope there will be competition in this!
me too
has steelseries made any improvements on the issues since making this video?
I would like to know 1 year later.
Hi great video, quick question could I use this to record the sounds coming out my daw to record audio threw my screen recorder Camista? Thanks in advance 😊
does this work for any headphones or only steel series ?
Any headset works
How do you make Spotify play through your mic tho too
I would try it out except for I can’t use graphic EQ, I can only use parametric, because well if you think about it, graphic EQ doesn’t work too well for a blind person.
Wait you are blind? Very curious on how you wrote this comment.. and if you read this comment.. how are you reading it?
Dude I just need to figure out why voicemeter is ass in discord. Do you have any idea why voicemeter is soo glitchy?
im using sonar and its great.. but still need to make it change EQ according to what app is running and take it back to default once app is closed
Why would you use a noise gate in the Chat section? That's for the output. You put "Chat" as the output in Discord etc.
Discords output would be to the chat source of the Sonar app. As far as the Noise Gate goes having the noise gate to prevent lower db values from being heard in your headset from those you’re in comms with is a nice touch
Your gear links in the description are broken. Can you check and update it?
Thank you
so what you're saying is its not 100x better actually not any better than voicemeeter, it just takes like, 5 minutes less to learn, yeah im good
Something that sonar, rode unify, elgato wavelink etc all lack is audio channel limiters.
Does it allow multiple outputs like banana does?
why is the link here not in the first 20 seconds of the voice meeter walkthrough lol
I use an elgato wave mic and wave link but would love to be able to eq sound so I can hear footsteps better
Hi! Can this application be used in normal mode (do not make stream) just for games? Is it compatible with other headphones or other speakers?
Yes it’s technically made just for gaming
good tools but only 3 virtual source for mix? virtual potato you have 4... I look for a software with more.... do you know one ?
I still don't think I should delete Voicemeeter yet but this app is def on to something!
I have a dual setup (game / stream) with capture card.
So am I setting this up on both or game pc ?
Yeah sure it's easier to setup, but I think Voicemeeter offers more possibilities, especially when you have very specific things to do
And it doesn't need to have Steelseries
you dont need steelseries anything to use sonar?
How do you play music through mic using this? Thanks a ton!
Is there also a way to make the mic sound better like the intellipan from VoiceMeerer? And how is the delay compared to VoiceMeeter? I don't know how to setup an equalizer.
the equalizer would be what you use to adjust your vocals
can you use it with a midi device to change the volume for example?
very informative! thank you bro
Ofc! You’re welcome
How the big question is how would you work it with a duel Pc setup?
So my friends want me to play music through my mic for them and it works, except I can’t hear the audio but they can. How do I fix that
i use an application called Soundpad to play music and sounds through my microphone. if i change how my mic sounds would that also affect how music would sound? for example if i add more bass to my mic will it also add bass to songs i play through my mic? if so i would love to know if there is a way around this so i can tweak how my mic sound without it having an affect on the music
OMG thank you so much i love it 🔥❤
but what about send the audio from a windows PC to a MAC? SteelSeries need that VBAM like connection
