I'm half Slavic through my father. His parents came over to America before he was born. I love how natural you are on video. You're a very good cook. So glad I found you.
I looked at so many different videos for CRS, your demeanor is so very refreshing and very different from the airheads who usually do this on camera. You are so more relaxed and less fussy than the affected fingernail gals. You also taste the food as Jacques Pépin recommends, l believe this is terribly important! He was asked in an interview which he thought was more important in cooking, technique or taste. Jacques said there are many chefs with great technique who know how to run a kitchen and know how to manage a restaurant, but if they don’t taste the food, they aren’t as good as home cooks who taste their food and correct their cooking.
My Romanian mother in law always added sauerkraut to her stuffed cabbage sauce, so I add it to this type of soup too. Once you have it like this, it will seem bland without it.
I just made the soup and it is SO good. It was so easy and tasty - and no complicated steps or hard-to-get ingredients. This will be a frequent one for me. I had three servings.
I have made this type of soup, also I make golabki. Our family also makes a casserole of meatballs and cabbage wedges with the tomato gravy when we don't have the time to roll up the cabbage. It quick and satisfies our crave for comfort food.
I made your soup...and improvised...by using a bit of brown sugar and extra cabbage...and my son's hot sauce...WOW!Thank you for making possible my first cabbage roll soup. I made alot to freeze, and am eating for breakast right now. Improvising in thr kitchen is what I do. Thank you again🍽
Looks soooo good! I love soup in any weather, my spouse says I'm crazy. Doesn't matter, I made lentil soup last week, it was 104 outside. Now I'm craving cabbage rolls, AND soup.
Love this. Golabki are really labor intensive for one person. I only have them at Polish restaurants. But this soup would give you the flavors with a lot less work.
Made your recipe today. I wanted to add my own touch but decided to follow your authentic recipe & it was amazing! Thank you soooooo much for sharing ☺️
I made mine a little bit different, but I used your vlog to cook in the same steps. I made a very large pot. It is delicious!! I am used to making gołąbki z kapusty. This is easier to do . I am loving your channel!
Hi Anna and Mark, you won't believe this but I made something very similar to this over the weekend. I used an onion, garlic, bay leaves, paprika, carrots, cabbage, celery, tomato sauce, turkey kielbasa and some sauerkraut. It really came out absolutely delicious. It was inspired by you!
Looks delicious. I have tried several dishes from your channel I normally wouldn't have just because your voice makes them sound so appetizing. Thanks for expanding my palate. Sorry, but you will never sell me on beets.
Thanks for being a fan David. I know beets can be weird, but you HAVE TO try a home-made cold beet salad. If you make this, and still don't like it, I'll let you off the hook. Link here: www.polishyourkitchen.com/polishrecipes/polish-beet-salad/
I "improvise" most of the time when I'm cooking, rarely using measuring devices. Frequently I wish I had "filmed" the process when something came out fairly amazing. However, I am sure the presence of a camera would completely destroy my cooking mojo. :-) I really enjoy your videos!
looks yummy. we make something similar here in Pennsylvania, in the heart of the Anthracite region, called Piggie soup. Ingredients are the same but we finish it with thickening. heat up s ome bacon, or just bacon fat in a cast iron pan. addd a few tablespoons of dicced onion and saute to soft. sprinkle some flour and borwn slightly. ladle a scoop of the soup liquid to frying pan. heat to bubbling. pour all that yummy goodness back into soup pan, adds another level of flavor into the soup.
I'm so excited! I'm a soup lover and if this is anything like the cabbage roll recipe you make, I'll be a happy girl. That was one of, if not THE favorite recipe find for me last year. I need to get this made before full-on summer hits and I'm less enthused about making hot soup in 37°C/100°F temps.
I AM HALF UKRAINIAN AND MAKE A CABBAGE SOUP MY GRANDMA TAUGHT ME...USING A PORK BASE, LIKE YOU DO ALONG WITH SOME KIELBASA, (OR BACON IF NO SAUSAGE AVAILABLE) NO ALLSPICE, LOTS OF ONION AND TOMATO PASTE AS WELL AS CANNED TOMATOES SMASHED ALONG WITH A COUPLE TB KETCHUP FOR ZING...I USE A HOMEMADE CHICKEN STOCK, CARROTS, CABBAGE, COOKED BEANS ( navy, cannoli, black, or pea beans) I HAVE NEVER USED RICE , BUT IT IS A GOOD IDEA....A TRICK I LEARNED OVER THE YEARS FOR STUFFED CABBAGE WAS TO ADD A COUPLE OF TB OF GRAPE JAM..YOU CANNOT TASTE IT PER SAY BUT IT ADDS A LITTLE ROUNDING....DICED POTATO ADDED AT THE LAST TEN MIN ADDS TO THE TASTE.....SALT AND PEPPER TO TASTE WHILE COOKING OF COURSE....
I love cabbage roll soup and so does my family. It's a lot less work than cabbage rolls but tastes very similar. I also add a bit of brown sugar with all the spices just to break up the sour taste of the tomato sauce and paste a little bit.
Not sure about this one, as rice or pasta i find, swell in soup overnight ? BUT I did this week try the pea + smoked sausage/ham soup from your range and it was DELISH. A real comfort meal. It has now firmly joined my repertoire !! Best wishes
This means two cabbages instead of one on my trip to Wal Mart today. Also need a package of parsnips as celery root would never be available here in the back of beyond in SW Virginia. I am situated in the piedmont of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Hi Anna and Mark: Love your channel. And this soup I make frequently.Would Love to have you do an old Polish fav Duck Soup with the Kref. Czadnina.(hope I spelled that right)LOL
That looks absolutely delicious, and I think I have all the ingredients on hand!! Perfect! A friend of mine from work years ago introduced me to Vegeta seasoning. I have never seen you use it, but is it still popular in Poland? I recently bought some on Amazon and love to add it to soups and sauces. Have you decided to shelf the "Kitchen's Closed" segments of your channel? Has the pandemic still have Poland locked down restaurant wise? Hope all is well! Take care!!
Vegeta is a touchy subject. 😉 Some people swear by it and some absolutely refuse to use it in the kitchen (me), as it's considered as "cheating". It's mainly salt, turmeric and a few other spices. Everything opened back up here in Poland as of this week. We hope to get out and do some filming soon.
Love galobki but hate the work! This sounds like an easier way to get the good flavor. Serve with a thick piece of dark rye bread with a little dab of real butter about the size of your fist!
If I don’t tell my DH that I’m improvising he loves whatever I make....once he is aware that this is something “ new” he becomes skeptical 🤔. I make something similar to this, we call it cheater holubsti.

This soup is so delicious with a little dollop of sour cream on top. Yum. Love your channel ❤.
I’m making this right now. Even though it’s 90 degrees here in Florida
I make a similar soup but I like to add some sauerkraut in with it as well...

Oh yes, delicious stuffed cabbage soup 😋💗🥬
We’ve been missing you two times a week. Hope all is well. 😘 🤗

I miss the Kitchen closed videos. I love this soup.
Yesss
What an easier way instead of the rolling. Most definetly will make it like this!! 😋 😋
Next on my recipe list!!!
Love the ease and the look. I can 'almost' taste it

YUMMY - I'm absolutely making this for dinner! Way easier than gołąmbki!
Easy, quick soup! looks delicious.
Welcome back. I've missed alot of cooking from you
Do you have a good recipe for bread & butter pickles?
Sorry, I don't. Not a Polish thing and I've never really got into those.
@@PolishYourKitchen Thank you anyway. I've made Polish Dills but never done B&B. Oh by the way . My Daddy's last name was Dziewanowski. Yes Polish

Made this for lunch today. Supper delicious :)
I love cabbage roll soup and so does my family. It's a lot less work than cabbage rolls but tastes very similar. I also add a bit of brown sugar with all the spices just to break up the sour taste of the tomato sauce and paste a little bit.
Nice, I don't really like eating gołąbki but as a soup it looks so much better.
Heresy! :-)
Since passata has become available here, I use it when a tomato 'juice' is called for. Tastes fresh and sweet and thick without any other flavourings.
+1 on the Tomato Passata
love this soup i should make it soon havnt in a while and yes will fridays closed kitchen be back soon totally miss it ;)

I will definitely swell. That's why 1/4 c of rice for this large pot is plenty. 😉

or you can use the "meatloaf mix" sold in US supermarkets that is a combination of ground beef, pork, and veal
Yes, that works nicely as well.👍🏽
This looks delightful! But, I have a dumb question... is parsley root the same as a parsnip? Thanks!
No, but they look and taste similar. Parsnip is a bit sweeter.
Yum, but needs sour cream. Maybe just the region south of you ;o)
Interesting.
Did u have Heinz tomato pasta ta blow
in -- on thee side..?
Love galobki but hate the work! This sounds like an easier way to get the good flavor. Serve with a thick piece of dark rye bread with a little dab of real butter about the size of your fist!
No work. No gołąbki! I made 40 2 weeks ago then froze 20, ate 10, and gave 10 to our priests for their dinner.
Do you ever use ground allspice?
Not that I can think of off hand. Hmmm. Nope. Thanks for watching!
