    Very nice simulation. Please tweak a one thing. I'd love to use in my science class but it's hard to find a simulation that is close to accurate. The moon rotates on it's axis such that the earth always sees one side of the moon. The moon rotates one complete rotation for each revolution around the earth.
    Also, the angle of the moon's revolution around the Sun is tilted 5 degrees in respect to the earth's orbit around the Sun...maybe a little more tilt on the moons orbit??

    I love this. I can see in my mind the invisible tether. Like the earth has the moon on a rope so it dont slip away into the abyss. If the earth wasn't spinning the moon would crash into it. Gravity vs The Rope. It works. Keep spinning Mother Earth.

    • @chrisrose5503
      @chrisrose5503 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the spinning of the earth has nothing to do with whether the moon stays in orbit around the earth.

    Weird to think that the tilt of earth’s axis causes drastic changes in temperature. When we colonize mars (if we ever) Mars’ orbit isn’t a near perfect orbit like ours. Mars’ season will be a lot more drastic than ours.

    • @johnbremner4154

    Since the center of gravity is displaced from the center of mass in the moon, which area (point, part) of the moon is facing the earth the most? Since the gravitational pull is much stronger in the displaced part of the moon..?

    • @anonymousn1nja
      @anonymousn1nja 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      moon is tidally locked. we have one face of the moon always pointed to earth. one year on Earth is 365 days, one month is 28-31days, and one day is 24hrs. But on the moon, a day, a month, and a year are all the exact same amount of time. 29.5ish Earth days.

    • @anonymousn1nja

      it's always tilted at 5° and Earth always at 23.5°. also very very far distance away so they only line up every so often. usually about every 8-10 or so months? maybe more often than that.

    because earth rotating, if the moon over america, is it will always over america ? So moon never appear on asia ? Which is both earth & moon going to right. Earth rotating to right & moon orbiting to right..
    but moon can appear on everywhere, how is it possible, or how it work.. that can be happen if earth not rotating. Or moon orbit overlap faster than rotation of earth. Which is right ?

      The first thing we might notice is that the Sun no longer travels across the sky over the course of a day. The apparent motion of the Sun comes from Earth’s rotation, so if the planet were stationary, it would cause a single day to last half a year long...though we could look forward to some very long-lasting sunsets.. it wouldn't be pretty

    This video is very impressive but it's not fully correct. In this animation the moon is rotating around the earth but it doesn't REVOLVE while doing so. In real life we can never see one side of the moon, because it revolves once, with every single rotation... a mind bender for sure. In this animation the entire surface of the moon could be seen. This video explains it better than mere words can: th-cam.com/video/6jUpX7J7ySo/w-d-xo.html

      @@ChrisDegenhardt2000 lastnight @ 9pm the moon rose above the horizon and it’s now 1:48pm the next day and it is still high in the bright blue sky. Listen if this were a heliocentric model we lived in, a full moon during the daytime would be impossible. Let alone seeing the same phaze of the moon all day/night if it’s in the sky while the sun goes around the earth. If that makes any sense at all. The moon is chasing the sun in a circle above us and it takes 28 or so days for the moon to “catch” the sun and circle it. When it is farthest away it is full and lit up, when it gets closer it’s phazes get smaller until it is a transparent “new moon” when it is closest to the sun.

      Hmm, how am I seeing the moon more than 12+ hours all year around? I could see that at opposing 6 month periods you could have 15 hrs of seeing the moon in say October and only 9 hrs of seeing the moon 6 months later…but I have photos of the moon almost all day all year 12+ hours. Also the fact that I can see the Big Dipper every night of eternity, when I should see it 6 months a year, and a completely new set of stars the following 6 months since we are on the opposite side of the sun looking the other way.. I’d like to see what you consider a proof or example of the heliocentric model.

    Chris! I've been trying to explain to my nephew why we only see the same side of the moon, always. This animation is flawed, because your moon doesn't turn at all. If this was accurate, we'd be seeing the back of the moon, which we never do. I get it - YOU, ME, and NO ONE knows what the "dark side" of the moon looks like - that's why you just used a straight, unspinning image of the moon's face ... but it doesn't help me to explain the "synchronious" rotation of the moon with the earth.
    Thanks anyway, though. cool video.

      @@ChrisDegenhardt2000 okay... but that still doesn't explain why, half moon, full moon or just a "sliver" the moon appears, to us, only from one side, ever. The fact is, it revolves, slowly, around us and only shows us it's one face. That seems like the best reason it would have been difficult to show it spinning - There are no images of the "back" of the moon!
      Thanks for your reply... and still a good video!

      I too feel that this is confusing because this animation doesn't show the moon spinning on it's axis. I've been searching for videos that can show that. Yet every one including this one comes with the expectation that you just have to believe it's happening. So why can't it be replicated exactly how it's happening?! My mind has a hard time wrapping around the fact that two spinning roundish objects are spinning 360 degrees and only one side of one of them is visible. I'm so, so confused......... That being said, this is one of the better videos I've seen.

      Luna 3 in 1959 took the very first pictures of the far side, in addition to the 24 Apollo astronauts who orbited the Moon, so humans have a very good idea of what it looks like. In fact, National Geographic published a famous large map of the Moon in February of 1969, which I had on my wall and also appeared in "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" behind Lou Grant's desk
