  • In this video, you get to tag along with Jens as Josh as they go head to head in 3 ski challenges. In the first challenge, they get to go carving and try to get as high edge angles as possible on increasingly difficult slopes. In the second challenge, they compete on who does the best turns and lastly who can make the most number of short turns in 30 seconds. In-between all challenges Josh and Jens give some tips on how to increase your edge angle, ski better and lastly how to do quicker short turns.

      I have watched a ton of these videos and love you guys. I agree with Luemun that this was the most helpful because you were navigating less than ideal conditions and other skiers. The tip about loosening boots was helpful, and getting benchmarks for ski IQ, were both valuable. So many videos seem aimed at selling us CARV, but this one is useful for those who actually have it. I’d love more videos like this.

    I think watching this video kind of shows how much better of a skier Josh is, but also how that can be a drawback for the individual challenges. His technique is so good that he doesn't allow himself to sacrifice form just to get in faster turns and such. Whereas Jens seems to be more of an easy going freeform skier who is used to the faster pace of doing tricks. You guys both did great though! This was a lot of fun to watch!

    I bought the Carv system after watching one of your videos and I can tell you it has improve my skiing from the first day I used it.
    I recently lost one of the batteries and the one time I went skiing without it while I waited for a replacement to be shipped to me I felt like I was wasting an opportunity to better myself.
    One of my favorites is to run through each skill for 3 runs then work the rest of the day with Ski IQ. Worth every penny of the system.

    You're both Terrific skiers of course! That was cool I like all the short turns the best. Some of my best days are a day or 2 after the storm, in the chop & crud. Less crowded and long as it didn't harden up great training conditions. I'm on the CARV preorder wait list only 900 spots left folks!

    Thanks for mentioning that going for the edge angle in powder isn't ideal, cause I was thinking WTF! Now if it was in the fresh 1st tracks I think you're good. As you know you can just do more in the powder in those early fresh than in the chop later. Not complaining, it's why I become a powder hunter in the trees! Great video love the friendly competition.

    Great video, thank you once again! You have improved my skiing with your videos. One challenge I'm having lately is skiing in varying types of surface conditions. One section will be soft and forgiving and in the same carve/turn will be slippery/icy. How to you suggest a person keeps their balance through this slip and hold type of texture? Thank you in advance.

    Regarding your forward stance score. A good drill might be to press down the toes of your outside foot during turns, instead of just focusing on shin contact.

    Building edge angle in powder. Lol Interesting challenge. Creating that much edge angle seems to have almost instinctively put both of you over the inside ski at certain points. I can definitely understand why though. Building that much pressure over the outside ski in powder is definitely going to fill your jacket and goggles with snow lol. My 7 year old son was watching this with my and said "they were too much over their uphill ski". I said yeah but they didn't want that outside ski to submarine down into the snow and do an involuntary front flip.

    • @StompItTutorials
      @StompItTutorials  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes it was silly and fun. Your son got a great sense of details! We indeed had to incline to not flip down the hill.

    of all the Carv and Stomp vids this one seems like it was cooked up in marketing meeting. Perhaps Stomp It created it on their own or it was a collab. It seems obvious (not just from past videos where he is the expert) that Josh is the better skier. Isn't Jens newer at skiing. If so, I would say he is more likely to be able to ski in the style of the AI. He has less to break down. Josh does things well by instinct already.
    I get it...Carv and your ski camps can be fun.

    Wait but how can you guys be skiing in an open resort without everyone turning into dead COVID zombies?! Oh yes, because every damn resort in the Alps should be open so everyone can ski to say fit and healthy! If only France would stop destroying its economy (stopping tourism dead) and their people’s livelihoods (hospitality and resort jobs of all kinds gone). Rock on gents!
