  • In this video, I will demonstrate how to use face oil.
    Face oils can help hydrate the skin by locking in moisture. They contain antioxidants that soothe irritated skin, reduce redness, and have anti-inflammatory properties. Additionally, they create a protective barrier on the skin's surface, defending against environmental stressors like pollution. Certain face oils can also regulate the skin's natural oil production, preventing acne and dryness.

      No, but I once ate emu tartare when I was in Australia; that was nice, haha. I didn't even know that it was used in skincare. So no, I did not try it, but now I might do so.

    Wrong!!!! when you apply oil to your face, your face should damp not dry the oil will just sit on top of the dry skin and if you’re adding a moisturizer, you moisturize your face on damp skin then you seal the moisturizer on your skin with the oil. There.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      No, unfortunately, that is misinformation. To understand this better, you need to comprehend the difference between dry, damp, and wet skin.
      Wet skin refers to skin that has a noticeable layer of water on it. Water droplets can be seen on the skin's surface and felt when touched.
      Damp skin describes skin that, while patted dry on the surface, still retains some internal moisture. There are no visible water droplets on the skin's surface. It's akin to a sponge or a piece of clothing that, though no longer dripping, remains moist to the touch.
      Dry skin refers to skin that has not only been patted dry on the surface but has also been left to air dry completely for 5-10 minutes, allowing any residual moisture to evaporate. This process requires waiting before applying any products or continuing with other skincare routines.
      This means that you should aim to achieve damp skin to lock in the moisture that the skin has already absorbed.
      As for your plant oil, it contains smaller molecules that can penetrate deeper into the skin compared to regular moisturizers. These usually contain silicones, mineral oils, or fats like shea butter. You should apply these on top; otherwise, the plant oils will be unable to penetrate.

      I have found the video (th-cam.com/video/laoo1JzrvJg/w-d-xo.html) , and it's wrong. Maybe she does not know this, but a treatment oil is basically the exact same thing as regular oil because it also contains oils as a carrier, making it the same. The difference is that it contains specific ingredients for various skin concerns, such as retinol or maybe a vitamin C derivative dissolved in an oil. So it is the plant oil that penetrates deeper into the skin. Therefore, you always layer moisturizers after your plant oil, unless you have a moisturizer that is purely humectant-based. However, these are very rare, and most gels also contain a lot of dimethicone, a type of silicone, which is then also layered after the oil. I think the misunderstanding here comes from the fact that dermatologists are not deeply enough into skincare and do not understand the chemical aspects of this. Therefore, most get it wrong.
      What's more, damp skin is not the same as wet skin. As I showed in the video, damp skin means the skin is moist but without visible water drops on the surface. If there are water drops present, then it is considered wet, similar to how clothes or a sponge might feel when wet. This distinction is important in understanding the condition of the skin.
