    Gosh I live in Northern California and I’m just so envious, and well plain ass jealous the fact you guys up there have such a year round opportunity to catch fish. I love fishing in general, don’t get me wrong. But fishing for steelhead and salmon in rivers as they have came in to make their journey, there just something shout it that cant be duplicated. Thanks for sharing your videos and knowledge with everyone. Can’t wait for December to come around and chase some winter steelhead, least the few our rivers have left.

      I 100% agree with you. Nick and I grew up hiking rivers and casting in runs. Getting old sucks especially tying knots lol. Nick is going to do some chum fishing next week and make a video.

      The Columbia River valley and Gorge truly does have year round fishing. We may need to drive an hour or so, but every week of the year I could have a chance at a Salmon or Steelhead - sometimes multiple species! It's a giant blessing - due to the Spring Chinook and Summer Steelhead that arrive in Spring/Summer but don't spawn until late fall or winter. Those overlap with the Fall and Winter runs - resulting in pretty much year round opportunity between the mainstem Columbia and tributaries!

    Hmmm 🤔 I don't think that was a Vulture? The knot demo, awesome! The open package, nice color spoon!! I'm a Cleo guy 95% but one morning they were everywhere and not having a spoon so I put on a #6 chartreuse fox w/ a barbless single hook and BANG first cast a huge Coho broke off and 2nd cast with another and BANG!! Another spoon technique if water is running good I will swim the spoon backwards and drop into their face! With a Cleo I caught: Steelhead, Chinook, Coho, Chum, searun cut, cascade cuts, rainbow, brooks, bull trout and small mouth bass and other!! I also use a good snap swivel! Great show guys! Tight Lines! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎

      Thank you for the comment. I was also going to explain why to use a siwash hook but didn't get to it. Not sure if that was a goose or duck it could fly. It was also a beggar, got food from the driftboat and was very serious about chasing other birds away from its territory.

My first year we went to China and when we came back we were invited to the American Chinese ambassadors house! Well I was impressed with the the 14 karat gold spoons as a fact I Borrowed 3 and let me tell ya! The greatest gold fishing spoon I have ever borrowed ..

    Lol fish was foul-hooked wasn't it? Looked like a 30lb Chinook the way it was fighting, cut to a shot where the hook is already out and it's a 5 pound coho! 😂😂😂

    • @x01026
      @x01026 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Obviously a foul hook. Fish rarely "bite" in that hole because they have been staged there for a while waiting for the rain to raise the creek so they can go up and spawn. In general targeting fish in those spots is a waste of time, you need to head lower where fish are still moving up river and willing to bite. They are just trying to make a video on spoons to sell tackle ... Probably don't need to be making 1000 casts on fish that aren't going to bite. Make your tackle video then go home.

      Ha you guys are funny never a dull moment online. If you have ever caught a coho salmon they go into what is called "death rolls" and can get the line twisted around their body or a fin. When I got to Lucas after running a city block on the rocks it had done a some death rolls and then Lucas started following it to to the side of that big eddy. At that point I fell and hit my knee because I am also nursing a twisted ankle. He unhooked it being it was wild I got up and we finished the shot. But I can see how it may look like that lol.

      @@lucasholmgrenmusic If you've ever fished that hole, you know it's a great place to snag fish. The spot just below there is where they bite. If it wasn't snagged, why not show the fish fight and landing the fish?

    Is the black Muscovy Duck that's been living down there Nick's bird? I nicknamed him Paco, he loves tuna belly! He's trained himself to come stand on my oar blades and peck on my gunnel asking for treats while I'm on anchor.
