    Thanks for sharing your season Tam. It's been a good watch. We've all been taken by surprise when a rock turns into a fish. I'm looking forward to your next season as well as my own. I'll be on Tweed in February.

      @ I bet Tam, it looked like an absolute beauty! And definitely mate, what type of winter fishing do you do Tam?

      I usually take a break from fishing but I’m pretty keen on having a go for Grayling this winter.
      What about your self?

      @@Hookedonfly I’m the same as you Tam, I want to have a crack at the grayling also, never fished for them before but a pal of mine has quite alot of experience fishing for them so hoping he won’t mind me tagging along with him one day for them! Also would like to try a bit more sea fishing too during the winter

    • @Hookedonfly

      Great, I’m sure you will get few of them.
      Winter sea fishing sounds good, that’s when the big fish is kicking about right?
      I need to get sea trout another go next season, still want to get one

    you should do more double spey casts feels like your missing out half the glide and just fishing the same seems really, connecting with fish though so doing something right im no expert with a flea rod

      Hi Sam, yes I do miss some of the water there but that is from purpose.
      The water there is little funny, this was the best way for me to keep the fly when I wanted it.

    You've obviously been watching me too much on how to loose fish 😂. Unlucky on loosing that one hopefully there is another one waiting for you next year. I've only fished the Tweed once and it's definitely a river I want to fish again.

      Haha well I learned from the best 😂
      Hope you had a good season mate.
      Tweed is great river to fish for sure, worth the trip.
      Where is it you normally fish again?

    • @Hardlinesangling

      @Hookedonfly I'm normally up the north of Scotland on the Findhorn and Beauly. If I caught as many as I have hooked this year it would have been not too bad a season. Onto the pike and perch now for the winter. No grayling near me unfortunately.

    • @Hookedonfly

      Findhorn is meant to be amazing, need to make a trip out there sometime.
      Seen a lot of videos and it looks fantastic!
      Haha yeah I know how you fell but it’s good to get some action on the day even if it doesn’t end up in the net.
      Good luck with the pike 👍

    Real pity losing that big fish Tam! Is that one of the Greys GR60 salmon rods you are using? Good rods. A little heavier than some of the more expensive ones but powerful and handle any type of line or style of cast well. I have two of them I use regularly.

    • @Hookedonfly

      Thanks.
      Yes, it’s GR 60 indeed.
      Really like the rod and how you said really powerful and easy caster.
      I actually needed to warranty it just after 5 months of use as the cork was in pretty bad shape all ready.

    • @gradun123

      @Hookedonfly Ah pity, the cork on both mine has been good. Glad you were able to claim on the warranty.

    unlucky mate, it looked like a foul hooked fish, I've done it before, its the way they fly downstream instantly, I foul foul hooked a 5 pound grilse when I was younger and I swear I thought it was a 30 pounder

    • @Hookedonfly

      Thanks for watching mate.
      I think it was hooked fine but it pulled the hook out when it was jumping and head shaking.
      When it was going mad and jumping it looked huge.

    • @hebdomadist

      Using your index finger to pin the line against the rod when a fish is taking line is a BIG mistake. Use the check of the reel to fight a fish-- keep your hands and fingers off the line …any type of lurching pressure on the rod or the line during a fight usually ends up with a long face…

    • @hebdomadist

      And I also have to ask….do you carry a hook file???????????

    • @Hookedonfly

      The reason I was holding the fish back is because if it would go down the rapids I would never got it back up as there is no access.
      But you are right no finger needed, I still doing it cos of my trout fishing days.
      File is actually great idea, I will get one for next season.
      Thanks for watching, tight lines 👍
