Boy does this motor bring back some memories. I found one when I was in 7th grade and it looked literally brand new I think I paid like 250.00 for it of course it hadnt been used in years so i had to pull the carbs and clean and some new gaskets and it fired up and ran great. the first boat I put it on was an 8ft 3 point hydro, I was running a 18" pitch aluminum prop that boat would go around 40 mph with that engine on it. The nest boat it was on was a 10ft GW Invader 2 seat fiberglass if I remember right I had to drop a fair bit of pitch but that boat would go about 35 mph with this 25 hp motor. The motor always ran great the only maintenance on it was draining the lower unit oil every fall and replace plugs every 2 years. I ran the engine for at least 10 years and then a neighbor lady bought it from me and he idiot son tried running it without mixing the fuel!! Sad ending for one of lifes favorite engines!!
how do you get the shift side hood on and off of these, is there a trick to it? very nice I just got one but its froze up hope I can un-stick it, yours is very nice!
3 year old post, but for the sake of other readers, my '57 Fastwin was doing the same, and I found the plugs were a bit dirty. New plugs and some carb cleaner in the fuel tank sorted things out, now running faster than ever.

You paid 250 for that? That's more than what they retailed for new. Still not worth 200 in non running condition

I have a fastwin 1958 it ran good last year but the motor started jumping recently like its not getting enough fuel or its sucking air .Got any ideas

It's a 55. The 56 was 30 hp.
My father passed away, we have this engine. Only used once. How can we obtain a value and a buyer for it?
