I think these lights will be populair for home studio's. A lot of TH-camrs work from home and space is often very limited. A big softbox might already fill half of their room. So a light that hardly takes any space is ideal. The light does not have to be packed after every shoot so the construction is less of an issue.
Good review, but I felt like there was way too much time spent just talking to cameras rather than physically showing all aspects of the light, like at 2:48, show the accessories don't just list the items painfully slowly, How long are the header cables? Is Sidus link supported? Maybe the specs should come last as it's painfully boring to list all x4 lights specs halfway through, but I'm glad you mentioned the longevity of the kit and the flimsy grid.
Hi Samuel - thank you for your comment. At 9:09 I talk about the Sidus app. Sorry about all the specs :) Some people really care about that stuff and some don’t! I try to strike a balance.
I feel like these lights punch high above their weight class. I’ve been buying these and using them when I need a source smaller than a Litemat 4. I’m very hopeful that these will find a pro release under the Aputure brand with built in crmx and a 2ftx4ft size.
Hi Lawrence, they won't if you are competing against the noon sun outside (overcast is a different story). You could pick up a roll of ND and ND the windows though and then they'll do just fine. These don't have enough output for that -- you'll want a LS 600D at minimum or LS 1200D.
I was enjoying this dudes entire restrained vibe and his thoughts were never beyond the practical but the example of actually using the lights as a three light set up was possibly amongst the worst lighting I have seen. Perhaps intentionally. The reflections on the admittedly highly reflective and shiny skin of the subject were beyond distracting and the definition of lit. Soft and natural might never have been the intention given the garish pink back wash but this was a complete turn off from these lights. So in many ways the review was excellent.
Other more honest reviewers noted the pins are proprietary and limit your mounting options. Also, the frame rods bend easily and they can get loose and slip out of their pocket, dropping your expensive light on the floor or worse, on a person
Would you replace your Nova P300C lights on your cycle with the F21c lights? And if so, would you expect the same coverage? I would imagine intensity would suffer.
very interesting lights.. it would be nice to see more of the cable , plugs and how many vlock it uses. Id be thinking of using them around vehicles mabe taped to the roof.. for that use they would need to be good at 3% at night. Thats a horrible green.. do they do subtle colours like a green dirty flouro colour?
Great questions! We'd recommend checking out some more videos like DSLR Video Shooter's review. These lights have the same color engine as Aputure's RGBWW fixtures. They're capable of matching pretty much any practical you'll find on your sets. Taping the lights to the roof of a car is a perfect use case. They're light and mobile. We even gaffed them to the ceiling in our flexible light mat commercial.
@@amarancreators im seeing lots more reviews now. still dont see clear of the connector or know the vlock current draw. most likely best design would be to use 2 14.4v vlock in parrarlel.
@@sammorganmoore Not at the moment. That would need pixel effects, which would lean towards more of a pro feature. Will keep this in mind in the future though!

Can someone tell me if the AC cable has a large surge protector halfway down it? I can't tell from the blurry video at 2:48 :/
Really good review. Do you think that these lights would be able to compete with a window in sit down interview scenario?

I've heard some of them have fans on the controller. Do you know which ones have and which ones don't?

A bit late to this product, but I’m wondering if 3x f22c would give enough output to be used for the cyc, instead of the nova 300Cs you used?

You definitely can go more subtle with the colors. I didn't because I was showing off bright primary colors in that particular shot :)

loved this. Thank you sir.
Nothing about the fan noise?
Hi Roy, honestly the fan noise was fine for me while recording a bunch of audio near these fixtures. No complaints.
Best product in world 🌍 👌👌👌❤️❤️❤️
Thanks 💐💐❤️❤️❤️👌👌👍👍
Meh, no CRI test. 👎🏼
