Having Latin descent with something else doesn't make you biracial and being born in another country and immigrating does not clump you with the majority of that countries ethnic population. As a mixed person, I find the lack of research and knowledge offensive.

"Cuban" isn't a race either, and Lochte's mom is either completely or almost completely Caucasian. White Spaniards colonized Cuba for around four hundred years, and many Cubans are fully white. Don't know why people need this little tip, but it seems that many do.

I wouldn't consider him biracial. I have a friend who is biracial because her mother is a white Puerto Rican and father is a black American. Her cousins are white because both of there parents are white, eventhough one is Puerto Rican and the other is Italian.

Having one Cuban parent doesn’t exclude you from being white. Ryan lochte is white, his mother is white too. Ethnicity and nationality are two separate things, you guys lost all your credibility with this.
Krystle Lewis Ethnicity is just culture as well though. Nothing to do with physical categorization like race. Though there are obvious correlations but they do not have to always fill the stereotype. For example, me and you are both Americans ethnically and nationality wise but we do not share the same race.
Aura, i disagree with you stating that ethnicity has nothing to do with physical features. I am West Indian Creole, plenty of us have simlarities in our cilture but our racial heritage varies. Some have more african physical features than others . Just like African ethnics who have different physical features. West African and East Africans do not look the same.

My father is white as snow a blonde blue eye. I have a lot of blondes on my Puerto Rican side that look like normal white people that you see every in America. Guys watch some DNA Tests. Many African-Americans who thought they were full African (and/or with a little bit of Native American) only got ~60% African and the rest European. Halsey's father looks very mixed with European so Halsey might not even be a 20% African. I think it's super annoying when people claim they are black or even full black (aka a color and strictly speaking not a race) when they clearly don't look like it. Tons of people say "Blacks come in all colors" completly ignoring the fact that lighter African-Americans are heavily mixed from centuries back.

He's famously for his role as "BigWorm in the movie Friday. Slavery started in Latin America long before the U.S as there are more black people down there then there are in the U.S combined. Slavery in Puerto Rico went from 1501-1873. Slavery in the U.S started in the 1600s and ended in 1861.

To everyone saying that being half Hispanic doesn’t make you biracial: What if your Hispanic parent is brown and appears to obviously have Indigenous blood? I’d say that makes you biracial. That and although “Hispanic” isn’t a race, Hispanic cultures are WAY different than White American culture. I think it’s just fine if someone only identifies as half white and half Hispanic.
This! One of my cousins on my paternal side of the family has a light brown complexion (we're Mexican fyi). She is married to a non-Hispanic white man and they have two kids together (11 year son and two year old daughter). They were suppose to have a third just this past January, but unfortunately she miscarried back in June. The kids look more like their father than her. You would think of them as ordinary white kids if you saw them in person and not know that their mother is Mexican with light brown skin.

After reading many of the negative comments regarding Logic and Halsey being biracial or not-it is disturbing. First, I am "so-called" bi-racial myself. When my hair is thick and curly then I look more mixed. However, I happen to be very fair for a mixed chick and get confused with White, Hispanic, Arab, and mediterranean types. I grew up in the "hood" and I carry my "ghetto" membership card with me wherever I go. I only knew my Black side (father) growing up as far as culture is concerned. When people hear me speak they know instantly that I am Black. I have no reason to front and all of this colorism and ignorance on the platform is just plain stupid! Logic and Halsey are whoever they want to be. They have a choice...

That happens to my kids a lot. Once someone walked up to my daughter and asked her did she know this man. Do you speak spanish. My daughter said yes this is my grand father...(who is Nigerian by the way). Then another time the teacher called me and asked is that my son's grandfather. Is he my father. I said yes. She sounded like she was in shock on the other end of the phone.
Imagine a world where people only see souls not color, where they understood that we are all temporary, navigating through this world..... most loss, others faking who they truly are, while all just wishing to be understood, accepted, valued and loved. Recently, tragically a young guy, Jamal Edwards passed away here in the U.K. and there’s been so many people writing on the internet tributes to him because of all the wonderful things he’s done to help others to succeed in life. He’s given major platforms to people with talent, who otherwise wouldn’t know how to bring their talents to the world. Giving opportunities to young people from broken homes to become who they want to be for a career. People from all walks of life, celebrities, royal, from all ethnicities and cultural, regardless of who they are, they are all grieving for Jamal Edwards, because he was a good man

Can’t you be a WHITE Cuban with a WHITE British person and give birth to a WHITE baby? Or a BLACK Puerto Rican with a BLACK Haitian and have a BLACK baby? It can be both a blessing and a troublesome thing at times being bi-racial. Take it from me, I’m half white and half Mexican, and I relate completely to what J. Cole said in regards to how he relates to/feels like one of his races, but not like his other race. He states he can IDENTIFY with one race, but at the end of the day, he only feels like he belongs to one, and he has always felt this way...
Sadly, I relate to this all too well; as much as I’m proud to be half Latina, I have not ever felt like I belonged to that race. I feel like just a white woman most of the time, since I look predominantly white (of course, this changes depending on my makeup, if I have a tan, etc.)
Furthermore, I was not EVER treated like a Latina growing up in school by my peers since I have more European features than hispanic features, nor was my Latina side even acknowledged by a lot of people when I told them I’m mixed. It can be an upsetting experience being treated these ways due to race. But I’m glad people have evolved and seem to be more open-minded about how varied mixed people can look!
To this day, I still struggle with my identity as a bi-racial woman. I can’t seem to acknowledge both of my races myself sometimes in front of certain people... 😔

Interesting insights. My son came home from elementary school in Guam, and said he didn't understand why the Chamoro kids called him a haolie, when he wasn't white. I told him, "First of all it's not their word. It's Hawaiian for 'stranger'. And, secondly, being a person of color doesn't keep you from being a stranger to native Guamanians.
