Showing my age here but I was at Bathurst when Jack Brabham was World Champion and drove some demo laps. There was no one else on the track but it was obvious that nothing there was in the same ball park! RIP Jack.
I kinda wish we would have seen a less hold back approach of the f1 to really see how much faster it goes, but i get that wasn't really a option with safty etc

The aero and suspension had to be raised for the F1 car for clearance on a road track, so it is actually quite well balanced in lap times I think. They kinda showed sections where the Supercar excels in cornering. A perfect track will show F1 win easy of course. Would love to see a real lap if that wasn't (F1 held back in the chase, but maybe because it couldn't go as fast?)

Lap record for Bathurst is 1:48 by Jenson Button in a f1 back in 2011. V8 supercar record is 1:58 by Luke Youlden. 10 seconds doesn't sound like much but in the racing world is huge. Keep in mind the V8 supercar costs between 3-5 million a year to race while an F1 costs 135 million plus a year.

The track is only built for endurance racing and not for Formula 1. The elevation changes and the fact that it's a long circuit would heavily damage these modern F1 cars. Oh and fuel would also be an issue.
Wow, wow, wow! That v8 supercar is a million dollar superbeast which sounds and performs amazing (unfortunately kind of turning into nascar lookalikes I thinks). However, seeing the F1 car passing, dropping waaaay back then re-passing the hefty v8 so effortlessly was just next level. I now have an appreciation of the multi million dollar super machines F1 cars are. Thank you team RB for this, and thanks to SVG and Dani Ric for displaying their talents.
t would be better than Monaco and I it actually has some run off unlike any street circuit I would race a f1 car there the cars are safe so it should be all good
Haha, yeah, typical RB stunt... that F1 was not even close to the limits on many of those corners. Looks like a couple of warm up laps, give him 1 or 2 more and that supercar wouldn't even be in the same sector.
Crazy the speed difference, it’s like a masters athlete racing a prime athlete, no matter how good of a shape your in you just can’t beat the youth, but you can put yourself in good places on the track and you know the track inside out, thanks for an awesome video

In 2011, Jenson Button did a 1 minute 48.8 second lap of the Mt Panorama (Bathurst) circuit, in his McLaren F1 car. Contrast that with the 2024 lap record by a current V8 Supercar ... ar 2 minutes 3 seconds. Accordingly, a V8 Supercar would lose at least 14 seconds per lap to an F1 car. Every 11 laps, the V8 would get lapped.
