    Looks like it could be Robert De Niro with Marlon Brando's bald head at this point of the build.

    If you wanna make it more realistic, you can add some stretchy fabric over the scenes of the mouth to make it look like it’s not a puppet

    You are a talented man and ive every confidence you will achieve what your aiming for. You have inspired me for sure. At first i thought you were talking the talk however when you got going you nailed it really fast. You can imorovise no doubt. I would love you to come up with a way to operate its mouth with your hand an fingers rotating the head and moving the mouth like your having a conversation.

    So far , you seem to have done a great job with your bandsaw. I would have rather modeled plasticine clay over the Styrofoam head , than cut it up. That way it does not leave a mess of styrofoam remains. Then I would make a overlay mold of it.

    Can you make a video of step by step slowly making the mouth? Do you know how to make moving eyes?

    what kind of clay did you finally decide on using? I'm trying to build these and have some monster makers clay.wonder if that is better to use

    • @bbelt1
      @bbelt1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I ended up using a two part epoxy clay which you see in the next video. It worked very well. It has no shrinkage and it added a lot of strength to the final build.

    I'm trying to build my own dummie and we are using your exact method of moving the mouth,do you have any tips or things to tell me before I work on the mouth?

    • @bbelt1
      @bbelt1  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Only thing that I would watch out for is make sure that the spring you use to keep the mouth close is strong enough to support the weight of whatever material you are using to make the mouth. Good luck on your puppet and let me know if you need any additional help.

    nice, very cool and creative work man. I was wondering, would you possibly be interested in selling one of these or making another one. I'm going to be doing a batman fan film pretty soon and this would be perfect for the ventriloquist's scare face doll.

      Hey man, thanks for the feedback. Yea, let me know what you are looking for and I can definitely see about making one for you.
      I took a look at your channel and liked what I saw. Can't wait to see your fan film.

    Paper mache clay is really great for details, its the one you make yourself with toilet paper, theres countless videos how to make that and regular paper clay which uses cellulose. Both are very forgiving clays and can be modeled and remodeled till its perfect for you. The cellulose one is great for bulking but you get better details with the paper mache clay. I use them both together when I make stuff usually. www.ultimatepapermache.com/paper-mache-clay heres the recipe I use for the paper mache clay

    Would you put Bondo on other surfaces? Like plastic or vinyl? Another words if you wanted to change or improve on the faces of the dummies they sell in stores? What about fiberglass is that what you’re doing there are you putting it on fiberglass and then do you sand it!

    • @bbelt1
      @bbelt1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eventually I settled on a two part epoxy putty that I got online. It sticks very well to almost anything as you see in the part 2 video and it can be sanded when it hardens. Fiberglass can be used as a shell which I am doing with my current project.

    Hi! I need some help and dont know where to start 😂 .... Can you help me haha? I am trying to make soemthing of my life but seem to always hit a brick wall. Ivw decided to build a dummy but dont actually know what is the best way. As its Billy from Jigsaw it has to have that plaster cast look. I dont know what is the best way to make his head as I only have one shot for the materials as im not very rich 😂I will know how to work with whatever im told to use! I just have many factors to ask such as weight...hollow or filled? And if so with what etc.. I just need someone with past experience to say ok, your best chance is to makw the head from... and boom im lost haha once i know that i can just let the rest flow. So sorry for the lack of knowledge and thanks to any one who can help me :)

      Try checking out my video where I make a working Billy head cheap. It uses a similar mechanism for the mouth, cardboard for the base, and paper mache to flesh out the rest. Check it out here: th-cam.com/video/S7D6Dj4UIUE/w-d-xo.html
