For the longest time I thought it was Patrick Stewart. The nose and eyes and bald! But once the facial hair started coming in, ah ha! Nice. Winter is coming lol
Hello again lol, I was wondering if you had any way of messaging you. To send you the ideas from earlier. As I can’t post a video yet due to not having another head so I could just show you the one I did?
I recommend you to use chalk that you scrape and crush into a powder when you paint, it will look smoother than paint! So first use acrylic pait in the skintone you like, then add chalk to blush the skin tone and enhance shadows and highlights. Seal it in using a clear matte sealer, spray bottle type. Seal in each layer of blushing to build up a realistic look, first do the blues, then the reds, then the bronze etc... ❤️ I recommend you to check doll repaint videos, they explain how to paint very good! ❤️❤️❤️ Great work, I'm a new subscriber!
I would suggest using a hot knife. It is a tool for foam carving. I used to build exhibits for the Science Museum of Minnesota and then went on to carving in making puppets for Sesame Street Live. I would suggest sculptural epoxy vs. Bondo. There is a brand called zoopoxy which is literally used in zoos for sculpting trees and other rocks and such. It is non-toxic so monkeys and children can safely gnaw on it. It works excellent, and zero shrinkage. Can't remember the name of the company that provides it anymore. It was fun to watch your process. I love the idea of a severed head. I was thinking of making a Vlad Dracula costume with a pike. It would be pretty cool to have a talking head on a pike!
making a clay slip with vinegar instead of water will seal up cracks and allow for shrinkage..for next time ;) check out some wig making videos on youtube for the best way to make hair pieces (imho) ..you also can glue/pull/brush to get a decet hair application..its hard for me to explain it..its how makeup artists add facial hair in the old days :) you could also use a flocking technique...i think some doll repainters have how tos on that...but you did AMAZING! I love it
Wow 😳 you just totally inspired me to actually do something awesome and I have a bit of artist in me but I always hold back but this project won't cost that much and if I give you my Email address cam you please make a list of everything you used like the exact type of epoxy clay and type of paints please?? I totally want to make my own dummy head I will share my results with you.. when it comes to paint I'm not so smart like o need to know what type and color and ect please
A good way to apply hair on something hard and sculpted where you can't punch it is get prosaide or medical adhesive paint it on and let it get sticky then lay layer by layer of fake hair on it overlapping each row.
Jim bean? Idk awesome work though man! im also working on making some puppets these where really helpful videos! Im a sfx artist by trade but the inner workings of many things escape me. Inspired!
Hey really enjoyed the vid. Could you possibly tell me how to weld the mouth mechanism, I don’t have too much experience with it. This is probably the best way I’ve seen someone make the mechanism so I would love to know how to do it. If you could let me know that would be great, or if you want to touch base else where that would be fine too. Thanks in advancd
I used a MIG welder to attach the pieces of the mouth together which I do not feel like is a procedure I can explain in the comment section unless you have used one before. However you can use a strong 2 part epoxy to attach the pieces together, or use flat head screws. Feel free to contact me via email if you have any additional questions.
never seen game of thrones so didn't know. would like to make a ventriloquist dummy. i'll call mine mr spout after the editor in singing kettle news. no one knows what he looks like.

Looks great. If you go back and do another puppet, could you see if there is a way to hide where the mouth drops into the head cavity a little more?

You should make a part 3 about the body
I never really saw this as a project with a body. From the start, I always intended it to be just the head.
