Soooo I went hunting for interview cuts from the showcase and found this:
_"Paranoia" is a song that shows Kang Daniel’s inner self, not on stage, & KangDaniel participated in the lyrics and expressed the pain, conflict & anguish he actually experienced._
And reading that... really makes me sad? Because while I haven't always followed his solo career, I've always rooted for him and seeing the negativity thrown at him since Produce makes me so angry. I'm thankful he continues to forge a path for himself doing what he enjoys. I like this better than his previous comeback, and I think it's interesting how each of his title tracks give off a different vibe. I recommend 2U because of its bright summery vibe, and Touchin' because I like the music video of that lol.

This is my favorite release from Daniel hands down. Everything about it just falls perfectly into place for me, and it’s probably due to how personal this song is for him. I hope the whole process for this release was therapeutic for him 💖

This is actually based on his own experiences. He went hiatus last 2019 for mental health reasons and he came back with Cyan and Magenta last year. He seemed ready to talk about it bcos he overcame those hardship. KANG DANIEL BEST BOY. PERIODTTT.

I love this m/v KD did so well in capturing the feeling you get when you are anxious and battling demons and depression. You can feel it in the m/v. He is a true artist and I think this will relate to other people who battle the same thing and help them. I am also a little sad that he went through this but I think everyone goes through life experiences and to be able to overcome and share to help others is amazing. I hope everyone shows him Love.

Not me getting the MV as an ad before the video
I definitely got a self struggle in this - what with it being reminiscent of The Babadook. (Which I have always interpreted as being about a mother struggling with how she deals with the stress of motherhood as a single parent, particularly with a child who has more needs.) And of course depression is typically represented as a looming darkness.
Weirdly enough I’ve never really gotten into any of KD’s title tracks. And I’m not entirely sure I have checked out each EP. Will address that this week. Really dig this track tho!! Going on the playlist.
