    I brought this camera (used with only 20 clicks) for a single purpose. I am a fuji shooter (however I am a former Nikon user but wanted to go mirrorless 3years ago) and I need to digitalize a bunch of slides. Hence I purchased this camera, Nikon 40mm macro and Nikon ES-2 to do the job. Why ... I did not want to mess around with a Nikon to Fuji adapter and the D3400 has the same size sensor (24mp) as my fuji. Being a former Nikon fan boy I knew the sensor will do the job and in this camera at a very affordable price. Thanks for the nice intro to the camera.

      Thank you, Hubert! That sounds like a great use for the D3400 - hope it serves you well for this job. Also... used with 20 clicks - nice find!

    nice video. appreciate the review. i own this camera and the 35, 85 1.8 as well as the 40mm micro. it is very impressive for the price. i am trying to decide whether or not to jump to the z50 but i think ill stick with this one for a while yet. also cool to see you are in toronto. i am from niagara, a stones throw away. thanks again!

      Thanks for watching! Upgrading to Z50... tough call, it would be a better sensor (low light / high ISO) but probably not enough for a truly "wow" upgrade. If they ever release a Z70/Z90 though...
      Greetings from the 416 :)

    I have used for 6 Months, its great camera for price, lightweight and battery life was so good, and yea bit sad about the microphone jack and live view focus not good at all
    For the lens i recommended 18-108mm usually kit for D7xxx series

  • @micksterminator3
    @micksterminator3 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I saw a body with the kit lens, 50-200mm lens, battery, and a bag for 150usd. I was looking for these lenses to use with my Nikon 1 cameras with and adapter and realized how cheap the bodies are. I may be on the lookout for a 5000 series but this pricepoint seems like a no brainer. Might just have multiple bodies lmao

    made the best purchase by buying it
    for 350€ (like new) all thanks to you.
    my only problem (as a beginner) is that dust keeps getting to the mirror and the viewfinder. and i think that i got dust on the sensor and inside the lenses as well (my room is dusty to be honest) that was my one and only complain.

    • @lensvana
      @lensvana  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dust on mirror/viewfinder isn't too bad, but sensor dust can be pretty annoying when it builds up! I use VSCO cleaning swabs to clean my camera sensors, just gotta make sure you watch some tutorials first and do it gently. And then try not to switch lenses in dusty environments. Enjoy the D3400!

      another question if you have the time:
      im planning to buy the Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM a used one for a better price because i feel like the kit lens is limiting me alot (bokeh and low light).
      what do you say?

    • @lensvana

    I bought my D3400 with the 18-55 f3.5-5.6 kit lens, a few months after release, and it is still my main (and only) camera.
    About half a year later a bought a Nikon 55-300mm f4.5-5.6, and the results I have been able to get with them are amazing.
    I am currently looking for an upgrade, but the only reason I need to upgrade is that my main shooting type is wildlife (mainly birds), and for that I really need better auto focus.
    If I were to shoot any other thing (excluding sports/action), I'd probably stick to this camera for a few more years.
    Some limitations I found when using the camera are the AF being a bit slow, the buffer being small, combined with slow 5fps continues shooting, and the DX sensor is a bit worse for low light.
    This camera gets my recommendation as a 9/10 for landscaping (slightly higher mp would be nice), 9.5/10 for portraits (doesn't have eye detect AF, but still very sharp, and focuses relatively quickly), 7/10 for wildlife/sports/action (small buffer, only 5fps continues, slow and not super accurate AF), 8.5/10 for street photography (the DX sized sensor isn't great when there isn't a lot of light).
    Keep in mind that I don't have too much experience shooting anything besides wildlife, and my friend who is using a D3500 with a 100-400mm f4.5-6.3 from Sigma, and pretty much only uses manual focus, is extremely satisfied with the results he's getting, so there is a lot of that personal experience/photography habits that affect my judgement, but that is my personal opinion about the camera.

      @@jennycartoon7108 overall yes, the sony is does good video, great if you need to take pics a long ways away, but doesn't do great in low light, or macro, and the menus are horrible. very complicated. If you already have one i'd encourage you to use it. Just learn all you can about it. The d3400 is great as you can change lenses. The afp 70-300 zoom is great for sports in the daylight. you can also pick up an inexpensive low light lens like a 50 1.8 etc for a decent all around camera. it all depends on what you intend to shoot.

    Hi, Is it a good idea to ditch my kit lenses -AF-P DX 18-55mm 3.5/5.6 VR and AF-P 70-300mm 4.5/6.3 VR ED- for a: FX AF-S 28-300mm 3.5/5.6 VR (offer for $250 USD)?
    I have a D3400 a 50mm 1.8G and a DX 35mm 1.8G
    I like taking photos anywhere and I mainly shoot animal (birds, dogs, etc.)

    • @lensvana
      @lensvana  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sergio, I would keep those kit lenses as they are pretty good and you may regret if you ditch them before trying the new lens. And regarding FX 28-300mm that lens should cost about $500 so... be careful if you see it for $250! And if you do manage to get a nice copy for $250... well you can resell if you don't like it. It's bulkier / heavier than the kit lenses and you may not enjoy carrying it around all day but it's a great lens. I think it's more at home on FX than DX cameras though

    I went landscaping with the D5000, the fuji X-T100 and the eos M100 and though the D5000 is half the megapixels it was almost the same . DR on the D5000 was much better than the T100. Highlights on clouds and easily blown out on the T100 and it never happened on the D5000. Pixelpeeping , the D5000 looks great. The T100 does not. Looks wormy and too sharp in camera, to the extent that you cant understand what you are looking at. The M100 is very goodbut comparing the 3 cameras I must say the D 5000 is great. It does not turn off all the time, so its always ready and the battery lasts a long time. Later I bought a D3100 for 50 dollars and I dont like it. I take pictures of the same things with different cameras cos I want to learn by experience and one day I might sell them all and buy the Z5 or 7. The fuji X-E1 you should try, its very good. And cheap

      @lensvana  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the intel, Jan-Martin! I was looking at Fuji X-E2 but they are harder to find on the used market these days, seems like there's a shortage. The Z5 is very tempting too despite everything I've heard about the low light AF performance compared to Z6 / Z7 series - perhaps there will be some huge sales this holiday season on Z series
