Thank you Mark for the review. I had never heard of this brand before and was looking at a Coach wallet. Which are not super easy to buy in England. Due to Covid 19, I now carry cards, a £1 coin and some notes. So needed a quite specific wallet that had easy access to cards while wearing rubber gloves while shopping. I ordered the cash wrap, with a monogram on Monday night and it arrived on Wednesday. Thank you for your help and the wide range of wallets you review. All the best John
We're you aware that you can separate the cash fold portion from the body of the trove swift like portion? Modular design allows for two carry options.
Thanks Anne, yes, the foundation of both the Cash Wrap and Coin Caddy is the Swift elastic wallet so it does provide flexibility (no pun intended) if you just wanted to carry the "Swift" portion. Great design.
@@burpofhunger Well, sort of. It's a bit of a mini swift, it's just the elastic with the sewn-in pull strap, but doesn't have the Swift's leather portion which creates the distinct card slots. You can competently carry the elastic portion separate from the cash wrap portion, but it's not as finished as the Swift. If you send me an email at questions@walletopia.info I'd be happy to send you some pictures so you can see what I'm talking about.
The customizability, materials, and unique design are all quite appealing. I wonder if it's possible (or advisable) to put additional credit cards or maybe business cards in the portion of the wallet where the notes tuck in. I can't tell from the video if they'll fit decently.
You could, but run the risk of them possibly falling out. While cash is wrapped, holding it in, putting cards there doesn't provide any security like we see with the elastic.
@@walletopia That's good to know! In that case, and especially if the cash wrapper takes up valuable real estate in the Swift that holds it, I guess it just comes down to whether or not the user wants to fold his cash. I might just go for the cash wrap for a few dollars more and then remove that portion of it if I'm not happy with it. Thanks again, Mark! I'm really starting to feel like a part of this community.
Thanks Jay, I collect Pelikan fountain pens. I rotate between them in the reviews. If you're interested in the particular pen I use in a review, I list the one I'm using the description.
that look similar to the wallet I am using for ages the DUN fold. can the bottom thread of that blue part be clipped so cash notes can put through it for a better "hold" ? I think that would be a better design. (coins are an antique item now what with contact-less)
Ah, we have a DUN fold in our inventory for review. How do you like it? On the Cash Wrap, yes, the bottom flap the cash sits down in is a separate piece of material, but I'm not sure if the stitching is double or single there if you tried to remove it. If only coins were dying, they're pervasive most places outside of North America.
I've been binging your content for several days now, and I love your reviews. When I watch your cash/card insertion segment I always do a thought experiment where I am trying to use the wallet at Walmart during the lunch rush. I'm in a hurry, there is an impatient person in line behind me, and the clerk has just shoved money back at me so I'm rushing to get everything put back in the wallet as quickly as possible. This one looks too small and awkward. I'd love to see a segment in your reviews where you do something in the real world like that. Though, I wouldn't wish Walmart on anyone.
😂 oh boy, my thoughts exactly with Walmart. My wife doesn't mind, I don't like going there. Costco is my place to go and she hates that place so we do the shopping for each other in our "tolerable" store. Great idea. When dealing with cash, that's a real issue, how do you deal with it under pressure. When you can leisurely place your cash is one thing, when you've got an annoyed mom with screaming kids behind you at the grocery store is another.
Thanks Mark for this long waited review. For my personal use it has the best price/quality relation. And the fact of supporting big bank notes unfolded, and coins/cards, is a purchase motive. Carry on with your good work. All the best!
I've just purchased one of these Mark after your excellent review! I ordered it yesterday and I've just received it this morning here in the UK. I originally chose the build your own wallet (fabric) then decided to change my mind and went for the carbon fibre version instead. Trove excelled themselves as they also put the red stitching around my black Carbon fibre wallet as that's what I originally asked for in my original order but not in carbon. Great wallet and I just cannot believe the size of this thing and I thought Wingbacks and Vaultskins were small and minimal? This takes it to another level!! Keep up the good work pal😉
What an awesome design. Was expecting the cash to have to be folded and inserted into one of the pockets but the way it can be laid flag and folds with the wallet is really cool. Would you recommend this for international travel since it can hold coins and all types of currency? I dont think I've seen a wallet that small that is capable of handling international currency and coins. Thanks for introducing me to this company.
At 5:28 that's what i dislike about this wallet, on the video it's not that bended but the one i bought keeping you card bent could be an issue. Even on the swift i think it also happens. Apart from poor build quality or maybe mine was already used,. Sincerely of all the ridge, secrid and any other compact/slim/minimalist wallets that i have bought and still own this was the only one that failed my expectations. If bending the card/s in the quick access slot is not an issue for you (until it breaks) or the seemingly used/defective build quality then this is a top notch wallet for the price.
I've seen a few comments on the build quality, which is unfortunate, the one's I've purchased have been good. But regarding card bending, yes, I've seen that, especially as you get more cards or utilize coins, I believe it's an outcome of the design.
From the rankings (www.walletopia.info/rankings) it shows TROVE Coin Caddy, TROVE Swift, VBAX, TROVE Cash Wrap, Aviator Slide, Frenchie wallets also come right up.
Great Review, and great wallet actually... I could see using the coin slot to hold an access key card that i don't ever have to remove from the wallet, do you think it would fit? I've seen a video from Trove where they combine the cash wrap with their trove swift wallet as well. I'm also pretty sure that the cash wrap you reviewed, can separate from the card holder so you can go for a more minimal day at the gym or something right? I guess if you combine the trove swift with the cash wrap, you would have to remove the elastic piece that comes with the trove cash wrap right?? Just realized i'm very confused about their product line, haha!
Yes, the foundation elastic is for both the Cash Wrap and Coin Caddy is the Swift and it does separate if you'd like to just carry the Swift portion. The small pocket would carry a key as long as it's not like a Medico or something huge. Mihn Phan is the owner/designer of TROVE's line and he's very creative in how he's evolved their products
If the access card is smaller than a CC and you're using the leather version, there's a good chance. It's not wide enough to fit a CC (or business card) :)

Great question as elastics have made inroads in just the past few years. As you can only do so much with wallets, finding creative ways to extend features lend itself to new things. Personally, with the right elastic, I'm find with it, but there are cheap elastics and I have to make the decision if this is a short-term wallet for fun or something I expect to have for many, many years. If I look at an elastic laden wallet and expect it last like high-quality, hand stitched leather wallets, I will be disappointed. In the end, a hand-stitched leather wallet using a high quality leather with a high weight will always outlast us.
Yes it is! We've had that comment and so I'll be doing a review on the Abrasus Small Wallet soon so we can compare them. Off hand I actually believe the Small Wallet fits right in between the Cash Wrap and the Coin Caddy. But we'll see in the review :)

Pretty close, the Small Wallet utilizes similar pocket structures while the Cash Wrap uses the Elastic. Small Wallet can hold more coins and I actually think it's a good in-between of the Cash Wrap and Coin Caddy. I'll get the Small Wallet up for review soon.

I know that you don't get paid for the reviews. But I strongly believe that you got sth for this review. Can explain it different. You can not give such a high score for such an ugly wallet !
Thanks Mark, you know I’ve been waiting for this one to show up in my feed since I found the score on your spreadsheet a while back 😬😉 You can separate the card part and use it just for the cash too! That would be a great feature to show in the video. So you can carry the cards like the Trove on its own, or carry the cash wallet on its own AND you can integrate your existing Trove card wallet into the Cash Wrap, should you wish. For me, taking this into account as well, it does everything you need it to in the smallest size possible. To me, that max score of 5 is easily justified. 👌🏻😀👍🏻
Well I’m disgusted by Trove. I got a carbon fibre cash wrap today (10th March 2020) and sent it back already. Poor quality imho. Dints and marks in the carbon fibre and a misaligned and poor looking Trove logo piece. Their response by email? I quote, “Thank you for the pictures of the wallet, based on the images you have sent I am satisfied that the quality is within an acceptable standard for us”. Well, if this is their quality standard, then they can keep them. I won’t be buying anything from them. Note - this was the CEO as well that replied to me. I am not impressed.
For sure Mark, it’s left a sour taste in my mouth. I was going to try the leather version, however after his response it just put me off completely. Oh well, my wallet buying continues elsewhere! 😀👍🏻
Do the STOW wallet asap ! ........
Already done :) th-cam.com/video/hTVOkQPW6BY/w-d-xo.html

As of this comment (7th March 2020), the code TROVE10 saves you 10% 👌🏻🙂
this wallet is not good. the band lost color and the leather dyed. advertised like 8+ cards, but 6 already made it full.
I know that you don't get paid for the reviews. But I strongly believe that you got sth for this review. Can explain it different. You can not give such a high score for such an ugly wallet !
Ah if only "beauty" was part of the score, it's not. That is in the eye of the beholder. :)
Does not look minimalist at all after he did the carry test.
Thanks Mark, you know I’ve been waiting for this one to show up in my feed since I found the score on your spreadsheet a while back 😬😉
You can separate the card part and use it just for the cash too! 👌🏻😀👍🏻
Thanks Richard, you're right and probably a good Compare video between the Swift, Cash Wrap and Coin Caddy.
Great idea! Like it 👍🏻
Well I’m disgusted by Trove.
Yes, for someone who cares so much about his brand that’s not an anticipated response.
For sure Mark, it’s left a sour taste in my mouth. I was going to try the leather version, however after his response it just put me off completely. Oh well, my wallet buying continues elsewhere! 😀👍🏻
There are always alternatives 😀
Does anyone care about coins??
Oh boy, yes. Outside of North America, coins are used heavily.
